Seal pups are intentionally put on the beach for protection, while the parent seeks food. Some humans, with good intentions, think the pup’s been washed to shore or abandonded. Not so! It’s the safest place for them, from predators.
If you ever see a pup on the beach, do not disturb them!
This is a very important and wonderful post, thanks Reka!

That is really cool to see…

It happens here quite often. We have sea lions and seals here. Mark told me that when he recently went to the harbor to see how the fishing was, a giant male sea lion came up on the pier and moved across it, hollering the whole time. He said the animal was at least 3000 pounds!
Sometimes, I can hear the sea lions and seals from my house. It’s wonderful. 😀

WOW!!

Mark pointed to a small SUV while he told me about the Sea Lion, and said it had to be as big as “that.” Not prone to exaggeration, except in jest, I still found it unbelieveable. I really must get down to the harbor and see if the big guy makes his way up, shows his stuff, and goes back again. 😀 😀

Dem’s BIG suckas! LOL You are so fortunate. All we have here are brown pelicans, an occasional whale…and lots of parrots that escaped from a ship decades ago.

How beautiful… I love their sound. 🙂 Great article, explaining why the pups are there!

I agree with everything you just wrote to save the baby seals. Great job!

Thank you. Like you, I believe it’s important to inform and make folks aware of things they may not otherwise know or think of. 🙂

Great reblog. I have never seen a seal in real life.

Wow, really? Then, I will do my best in the future to take videos and put them together in a post. Sounds and sights. 😀
