Greetings! I couldn’t wait to try out this glow in the dark yarn so I knit up a quick cowl for my dog with it. I hope to get pictures of her wearing it out side in the dark soon.
I casted on 10 stitches and then increased every other row until it comfortably fit around the first half of her. Then I decreased every other row until I had 10 remaining stitches. After binding off those stitches I seemed both ends together.
Baby girl is not impressed with my efforts to keep her warm!
Greetings! It’s that time of year again. I love setting creative goals and challenging myself to hit those goals.
My big focus this year will be on socks. I would be thrilled to finish my 365 pairs of socks goal this year but it’s looking like it might take me another 2 years.
2026 GOALS:
78 pairs of socks – 52 pairs of baby/toddler/child socks & 26 pairs of adult socks – this includes rough and final drafts for 4 of my own designs
52 books – printed copies, digital, or audio (26,000 pages/100 pages per week day)
10 small cross stitch projects – I have three kits to obtain this goal.
4 published designs – I have several ideas for socks
4 sweaters – a graduation sweater for my daughter, a funeral appropriate sweater for myself, a Freddy Krueger inspired ugly Christmas sweater, and a textured sweater.
3 sewing projects – I have skirt patterns but I haven’t found the fabric yet.
3 embroidery projects – I have a kit with 3 sampler projects in it.
Greetings! All I am going to say is good bye 2025…! You have been a hard year and I feel blessed to have survived it.
This year I completed most of my goals. 🎉 I didn’t hit my goals of 12 hats, 12 gnomes, or 4 cross stitch projects but I surpassed a lot of my other goals.

I started the year with12,601 grams of yarn or approximately 126 skeins of yarn.
I purchased 7425 grams of yarn or 74.25 skeins of yarn through out the year. * I count skeins as 100 grams but some of the yarn I purchased came in 500, 70, 50, or 20 gram skeins.
I recycled or reclaimed or was gifted 2178 grams of yarn or approximately 22 skeins of yarn.
I “donated” 711 grams or approximately 7 skeins of yarn to my daughter.
I actually used 9114 grams of yarn or approximately 91 skeins of yarn in my own projects.
This leaves me with a total of 12,379 grams of yarn or approximately 123 skeins of yarn in my stash to use next year.
On average I use about 759 grams or 7.5 skeins of yarn per month. At that rate I will use the remainder of my stash in 16.2 months.
I like to buy enough yarn in December to get me through about 15 months of knitting give or take a bit. So we are now ready to rock and roll!
GREETINGS! I tend to distract myself from a lot of the things going on in life and the world by listing to books and music.

Here is a screenshot from my Spotify Wrapped.
This last screenshot was taken directly from my playlist.
My most played artists were Shinedown and their second band Smith & Myers, Disturbed, and Nickelback.
I find that amusing because I would say that country music is my favorite and none of these bands are country. I think that my emotional roller coaster of a year showed up in my musical choices.
Greetings! Over the last few weeks I have received a few new items to help with my creative adventures.
My daughter gifted me this Knitting the USA book as well as this book on short – row colorwork.
I can’t wait to dive into this new technique. I have knit short rows before but not like this.
My hubby bought me the companion book to the Knitted Wild Animal Friends book that he bought me earlier in the year.
Both of these books of little stuffed animals will come in handy as I have a few little ones to make gifts for in the coming year.
I have had this book in my list for months so my hubby bought The Sock Project for me. He also pre ordered the next book in the series for me.
Last but not least my awesome hubby bought me the shorter tipped needles to go with the needle set he bought me earlier in the year.
These have not arrived yet but will be a welcome addition to my upgraded tools. I specifically wanted this set so that I can knit sweaters with sock yarn at a tighter gauge.
My old Knit Picks set has been passed down to my daughter.
Greetings & Merry Christmas! This year has been incredibly difficult and I am happy that it is nearing a close. I am trying to find some peace and joy as we celebrate Christ’s birth this Christmas day.
This year I decided to knit everyone in my house a new hat and sweater for christmas gifts. Yes, I included myself in the gift making and giving because if mom doesn’t do it no one will. 🤣 My hubby gives his gifts by handing his credit card over and telling me to pick something out.
I knit all of the sweaters with the Tin Can Knits Flax Worsted Sweater pattern. I made simple modifications for to the sweaters to suit individual tastes as well as my own sanity.
All of the sweater’s were knit with Knit Picks Brava. I used approximately five 500 gram skeins of yarn so the total yarn price was around $75.00 not including taxes or shipping and handling. I’m not trying to brag about being frugal I just really like this particular acrylic yarn.
The first sweater I knit was for my husband. I actually cheated and knit this particular sweater the fall of 2024 so I wouldn’t be rushed as we approached the 2025 Christmas season. – you can read the post I wrote here
