Years go by.

Standard

Time seems to fly by. Just spent some sad time missing my oldest daughter. It’s been 4 years since she passed. I am sure she is happy helping God. I feel her at times and that makes me happy knowing she’s around.
So much has happened in the years that have passed. Melanie and Dave built them a home on the farm. They added to their family, a boy born May 5, 2015. Kiley started school. Then things fell apart. Need to fill in where I had stroke and then cong. heart failure. After I feel apart health wise. Kids lives turned and they found they couldn’t be married to each other any longer. Dave packed up and left. He is still very close to Kiley, but he never really connected with Colin. He promises to be a good Dad, but he promised to be a forever husband too. He broke that promise, so only time will tell if he stays in his kids lives. His parents walked away from him and his brother. (Slow shoulder shrug.)
Ants in the pants, so I will be back later.

September doings

Standard

After spending the last several weeks sick and unable to do much of anything for myself.  My hub and kids took to the neglected garden (since my illness) and took it out,  what was growing rotten veggies.  They even got as far as tilling it up for the winter sleep.  I still have some flower bulbs that will need dug up,  and a small row of carrots that need to stay in the ground and get sweeter and orange/r.  Yellow carrots aren’t my thing.  But for the 2014 garden season,  mine is done.  Sad that I didn’t get it all harvested.  This is one of those years where you gamble and lose.  I did get quite a few jars of green beans canned and lots of tomato juice to use this winter.  Not all got put up and that is a disappointment to me.  I also have some strawberries to transplant.  Hopefully I will get that done before next spring.  I will have berries again off the ones that have been very good bearing ones for the last 3 years.  Just going to down size the patch for next year to what we can eat as they ripen.

Still so much to do before winter gets here.  Cutting wood for burning in the fireplace is one big job.  The other big job is getting the crops out when they are ready.  Praying the stock market pays well at time of harvest.  But that is all farmers prayer at this time of the year.

Fall isn’t here quite yet.  The month makes ones mind think cooler temps and leaves falling.  So far summer is hanging on.  Not looking forward to leaf clean up this year.  I am hoping the winds blow and take some of the work down the streets.  The farm doesn’t have that job in the fall.  Here at our home in town,  we have all our leaves and half the neighborhoods too.

Hope to be able to do much more outside in the days to come.  My strength is coming back everyday.  Just wish the vertigo would cooperate more.  I don’t like seeing 2 or 3 of one thing.  It’s so frustrating.

Got list made for things to do for winter prep.  Now to mark it off a little everyday.

Year 2014

Standard

LOL,  here it is August of 2014.  It’s gone by so fast.  Spring come early for our area.  Got our crops in at Easter.  Then it cooled off into spring temps in late April.  May found us in some heat and humidity.  Garden didn’t do so well this year.  Some things grew,  some things didn’t grow after several attempts.  Then June found us hot and miserable and early hot season.  July cooled us down some again.  Crops grew a while without moisture,  then rain come.   Tomatoes,  zucchini,  strawberries,  green peppers,  green beans,  onions and summer squash all did real well producing.  Still getting tomatoes,  green beans,  green peppers and watching carrots grow for the fall harvest.

Got myself a bug virus of some sort beginning of August and still not getting better as fast as I want.  Ear aches are not fun fighting and added in the vertigo to deal with all new too.  Fall looks like a major fight getting back to me.

I pray to God for the strength and health again.  Winter to do list is coming upon us and I would really like to help physically for strength.

Just  a little babbling…………

Wanted: Aging body in good condition.

Standard

Life is funny,  no other way to look at it,  except for some humor.

As I age,  my body fails me in the things I can do now.  Wondering where all the energy,  ability,  and drive has gone to over the last couple years.  I guess I got lazy and didn’t realize my body was failing me,  thought I had just slowed down and was taking life in the slow lane,  after all the years in the fast lane.

So,  when I woke up finally,  I have looked into Yoga for getting some get-up and go back into my life.  I hope it’s working,  but so far,  I think I am enjoying the music and meditating than the stretching and toning.  Geesh,  some of the stretches and positions are impossible for me to achieve yet,  but I hope to get to them as I do them daily.

I could really use a new aging body in good condition,  one I could keep in good shape and not have to wait for results.  Well,  patience was never one of my good points,  and with age,  I have more than 30 years ago,  but not enough now as my brain sees what needs done,  and the body rebels.

Maybe,  just maybe,  practice will make my life a little easier to accept.  So off I go to practice,  practice,  practice…………..

More Odd’s

Standard

Need more help around here while I wait on decisions to be made.

Getting nervous about appointment and the out come.

Cyber world is getting old,  need new past time.

It’s been snowing and raining,  making sure to thank God for moisture for our ground and rivers,  lakes,  etc.

Need more visits with my sister.  It’s been good catching up with her off work.

Love my family and pray they stay well,  and feel the love……

Winter rain/snow

Standard

Some might think the dark days of rain/snow in the winter puts a damper on the happiness that spring/summer sunshine days usually make for good moods.  I on the other hand,  since the drought last summer,  enjoy watching it rain down from the skies,  watering the ground and looking forward to the mud come spring thaw.  Our ground has been so parched for thirst,  now it’s drinking it in.  Thank God for blessing our area,  and prayers to those who’s area still need the moisture.

This time last spring,  farmers were working the fields already and some were planting.  This spring,  life on the farm will return to normal with April and May planting,  and hopefully normal to good crop harvests in the fall.

Odds & Ends

Standard

Wonderful Thanksgiving spent with the family.

Enjoyed the Christmas shopping season,  had a terrific Christmas with family.

Started off the New Year with family and hung out having a great time.

Got one sled riding day in with the family.  Where is more snow?

Grand daughter is growing so fast,  and learning so much,  I can’t keep up with her.

Getting older sucks,  as aches and pains become more and more pronounced in my body.  I tell them to go away,  they don’t listen.

Season is winter,  yet the weather doesn’t seem to know it.  Warm then cold,  warm then cold,  my daffodils are up and they think it’s spring.  Please let us have more snow and winter and rain.

Some people need to put away those new extentions known as cell phones and have a real visit with live people more often.  I think their disposition would be better.

ok,  away from the podium,  ………..to be continued when needed………

Have a nice day!

What’s new?

Standard

What’s new? Well, since it’s been quite some time since I was here last, a whole lot of nothing is new. Not much going on when it was too hot to even be outside . Now that it’s cooler, just not enough energy to get out and do something. Wasn’t enough gardening to have to take out, mostly just the tomato plants. So sad that all the work put into the garden this year didn’t show any thing to harvest.
My house got cleaned more than any other summer in it’s history. Now we’re headed into cooler temps and the cleaning will continue into the winter months. I don’t much care for the whole stay at home thing. At least after the first 9 months of this year. Boohoo, suck it up. I am trying hard to put these little advice hints into action.

Irrigation for garden

Standard

We need rain.  Not in the path of rain which is falling around the area,  we had to figure out a way to water my garden without hauling gallons in milk jugs to our farm.  Sooo,  we got a 1000 gallon tank,  Steve had a pump of some sort laying around,  attacted it to our little grand daughters Farmall C,  added hoses and sprinklers and there we have our irrigation system.  My plants thank me by perking up and growing.

Proud to announce,  I have 2 green peppers ready to eat.  Tomatoes are loaded,  and green beans are growing good.  Had a huge batch of strawberries off my patch this year,  and adding the runner as plants to have an even bigger patch next spring.

Very disappointed in my other seeds I planted,  as I tried heirloom seeds this year.  Nothing grew.  Going back to packaged seeds that aren’t heirloom.   Those who spout to use heirloom seeds,  ya all go ahead and waste your time and money,  break your back planting them,  and having none grow or few thrive for you,  but me,  I want something for the time and work I put into my garden the first time in the spring.

Please let it rain.

Standard

2012 garden - Needs rain  My garden is planted,  but we need rain.  I have been watering it,  but natures fresh watering is so much better for the plants,  and they can tell the difference.

I was very impressed with my first year strawberry production this spring.  I must have had berries for 5 full weeks once they started ripening.  Ate til we got tired of having strawberry this and that everyday.  Froze the rest for later use.

I am still using veggies from last summer both frozen and canned.  Need to get last years used before I get fresh going on.  Should have enough to eat on til ripening begins.  So nice to save money on all things I grow and can or freeze.

It’s been a very busy, productive,  non-productive spring around our home and farm.  At first we had such a spring like winter,  yet couldn’t get anything done for the timing of frosts and freezing could happen at anytime during the winter months.  Then the rain come.  Every other day,  or every 4 days.  By the time it got dry enough to work in the fields,  garden,  or just cutting brush and clearing around farm,  it would rain again.

Finally relief come our way,  only to forget to come water for us.  We are in dire need of some rain showers.  Slow and steady rain for like a whole day.  Oh oh,  yes,  a day of slow rain,  so I can even take advantage of it to rest.  🙂
