I am quite proud of my third project, which is a bright yellow and purple scarf.

For warp I used a Malabrigo Arroyo, in a beautifull Candombe colorway, and chose a yellow merinos from Abuelita Yarns for weft.
Because I was afraid to see the beautiful variegated color of the arroyo being killed by this shining weft – and also because I’m quickly bored by simple patterns – I tried to create some constrast during the weaving process.
So I decided to improvise an herringbone pattern, and to vary the weft yarns.
What I learned :
- Hemstitching. A practical and good-looking solution for beginnings and endings of woven fabrics – I wondered how to do instead of using knots. You will only need a tapestry needle. This video is very helpfull. Hemstitching seems to be also used in weaving to create lacy patterns.

- Doing an Herringbone pattern. I don’t know if it is the right thing to do, but I put my loom on a flat position, in order to have all my threads at the same level, and tried to figure how to obtain the pattern, by driving my shuttle on two threads by two as you can see on the photo. It a quite long process, but I am happy the result.
