Also-Ran Change

A memorial image of a seat at the water and waves ahead.

CAREER AND LIFE DIDs, ALMOSTs, AND COULDA DONE MORE OFs: I retired (2020s) following COVID in 2021. Before that, I worked 4 decades (initial boot up circa 1980s) with nonprofit agencies or on projects advocating for change. What’s important is that I wasn’t working to be the head showpony. I consider myself an ALSO-RAN change maker. I have been a worker bee, teaming with others to cause change to be real.

This site has three main sections. The first is dedicated to work products I contributed to and that came into existence. The second representing projects I participated in that didn’t come to full fruition. And the final part is more about dreams and potentials. A curse of my life is having more ideas than I could possibly work on. BUT THIS DOESN’T MEAN THE IDEAS WERE BAD.The move from techNO frustrations of systems that didn’t work well to the current techYEAH sense of optimism, more project potential exist. I hope to highlight some of what could still be.

Ideas

PART TWO emphasizes projects I either worked on, proposed, or undertook via non-work public good activities or projects I worked with at certain agencies to push new concepts. This is where I came to the realization that not everything one does ends up generating lasting impacts. Still, I learned, I contributed, and I likely had fun trying. Like with the American Idol TV show, a lot of talented people try but only a few get noticed. As an ALSO RAN, I tried to draw attention to opportunities to try. I include small “d” Democrat work, public service, and other interesting initiatives.

LIFE PART CHRONOLOGIES — I am trying to list as many activities as I can in chronological order. I have to post them in sections because WordPress templates can be tricky. This causes a large number of jump-to pages … but that’s life, or my ALSO RAN existence, anyway.
