What’s In My Garden

Finally done gardening this morning. Then I took shots of my thriving plants.

Growing bigger every day….my papaya.
Finally, more fruits to wait for.
Kind of different from the rest, a longer fruit.
My orange Bougainvillea
My sweet-scented Cinamumu is blooming again.
What was left of my orange shrimp plant
Scarlet Bush
A Camia bud
I had the carabao grass trimmed a month ago.
Calathea commonly known as prayer plants
The Wandering Jew cuttings I got from Nissa’s garden.

Wandering…

Yeay, they are not called wandering dew for nothing. Last Christmas 2024, they were just hanging in small pots near Nissa’s garage. They eventually transferred them  to the side garden, and now creeping beautifully besides their other plants.

I asked Nissa if I could bring home some cuttings. She told me just to cut them. I planted them today in three hanging pots. I hope they’ll thrive. I used to have the green one but it died on me.

“It is called Tradescantia zebrina, formerly known as Zebrina pendula,  a species of creeping plant in the Tradescantia genus. Common names include silver inch plant and wandering Jew. The latter name is controversial, and some now use the alternative wandering dude.”

They thrive under the sun, I hope my three pots  would grow just like in Nissa’s garden.

There are so many soursop trees planted at the vacant lot fronting Nissa’s residence.  I gathered some leaves to make into tea because they are good for diabetics.

Garden Finds At Nissa’s Place

Went out this morning for a while and sunbathed while the sun was showing its face. It is a little in this neck of the woods. Found some blooms.

A double petaled gumamela flower.
Dainty Ruella flowers. I have this at home in three colors – pink, white and purple.
Found  this lovely flower at Nissa’s garage planted on the second floor and they let it hang.

A Year After

Then I took more shots of Nissa’s garden, a year after they were planted. They have grown but I love them all.

Welcome and Merry Christmas….Santa
The garden is not really that big but I love all the plants planted here.
The side garden.
A robust rubber tree
Pandakaki. We used to have this in our garden but it died after a few years.
Wandering Jew. Thinking of bringing home some cuttings.
A healthy Zilom
These Eugenia were planted outside as ground cover.
A lovely lone red  rose.

Gardenia

First time I’ve seen my Gardenia bloom in October. It usually produce flowers in the month of May.

My Giant Taro

The rainy season has helped it grow this big. It adds a lovely green touch to the garden.

White Blooms

I had my lone Gardenia blooming again. I had it trimmed a few days ago but I noticed new buds in its trunk.

When it rains, my Camia plants begin to bloom showing their lovely white delicate  flowers.

The last photo is of my Kamuning. These three types of plants are all sweet-scented. They give that heady scent that lingers.

Sometimes I wish I have more white flowers in my garden. My Amazing Lilies  which also bear white flowers and scented are not yet in bloom.

Pruning  Our Plants

I have to hire a gardener to trim our overgrown plants infront, at the side of the house and those planted in our small garden. The carabao grass needs trimming too but the gardener didn’t bring a pruning knife to use for it.

My dwarf Santan infront of the house.
Used this as ground  cover outside.
Our Fukien Tea plants
My sweer-scented Cinamumu
My lone Gardenia
Eugenia  plant at the corner
Our Arius tree used to be cone-shaped but its branches have grown in all direction.

A bonus shot. Saw this in one of the branches of our Cinamumu plant.

What’s In My Garden

The rain has stopped and the sun has shown its face for a while, perfect time to take a look at my plants. I took some shots of the veggies growing there.

This is my robust squash and taro. Josef always throws the matured seeds of squash in a corner of the garden.
Sometimes I harvest the  young leaves to add to my other veggies to cook as viand.
A small bud of my papaya at the back of the house.
Calamansi, bitter gourd and young shoots of squash.
Mixed with scrambled eggs, this is perfect.

More Harvest After The Rain

They are so big, I didn’t want to harvest them yet but I am craving for ampalaya with egg.
