{ Personal } Dsylexia & I

I haven’t been too faithful in writing here, but when something is bothering me — which is also too personal, and I’m too scared for me to share it — this blog is my escape and my only friend who understands.

This will be quick though.

Let’s set aside all things art and Asian, and go scientific: Dyslexia

What is it? Is it a sickness? If so, what kind? What does it have to do with me? Continue reading

Summer Must-Go: Karpos Wanderland 2013

From this point on, I shall promote in this blog some of the concert/events that I personally want to attend to, either I may or may not go on the grounds that a. I am financially challenged, b. I’m out of the country and c. I have matters to attend to.

I know it’s hard for me to blog these past few days due to my kpop distractions and whatnot, but I will make sure to blog more often. First of: Continue reading

Thy State of My LessThanThree

I am _____?

I am _____? Click the photo for more good stuff!

To make my title clearer: The State of My ❤
I always try to keep my mind preoccupied for me not to be stressed in anything school, family and sometimes, love life situations. Besides going online and spazzing to Korean men, I read my favorite Young Adult novels, watch TV, write, and sometimes spend my time in Photoshop for more graphic design learning.

Other than that, I always find things to be grateful, excited, inspired, challenged, amazed and curious.

I am _____:

GRATEFUL
for all the opportunities that crossed my way over the years. I’ll never forget the experience it taught me, the mistakes I made to make me grow professionally and maturely, and for the people that I’ve worked with and befriended with. Especially in concerts and events, you get to know more and more people who becomes your friend and your connections starts to get bigger.

EXCITED
to be graduating in college, finally! Well, I hope I do graduate. School doesn’t release the list of graduates until March 23, so…I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

INSPIRED
to be taking on the next chapter of my life: CONQUERING THE REAL WORLD. I will be graduating soon, which means more time to write and create new ideas and–hopefully–to execute them.

CHALLENGED
to find a job that will fit my a.) college degree b.) skills c.) DREAM JOB. Not a lot of people know that I have 3 dream jobs, and all of it are in the media side.

AMAZED
by BAP’s One Shot, yes the song and music video! The video is shot here in the Philippines and also in Korea. It’s a song about taking your one shot to an opportunity you’ve been given. I love this rookie group.

CURIOUS
as to how will my life after school will be. Before I have this I-cannot-wait-to-graduate-and-work feeling, but as graduation is nearing, it’s kinda scary already, being here and all.

Break Away: 5 Dares to Myself

May the odds be ever in our favor!!

May the odds be ever in our favor!!

Another week has passed, and here we are doing our Blogging Challenge #2! Blogging weekly should be mandatory for bloggers like me who has a lot of distractions.

As what Kelly Clarkson says on her song Breakaway “I’ll make a risk, take a chance, make a change…and BREAKAWAY!”

BREAK AWAY!!!! :)

BREAK AWAY!!!! 🙂

pic cr: Wanderrgirl’s Tumblr! (tweaked a bit by me)

Anyway, our blogging challenge this week is to give 5 dares to ourselves and for me I don’t think it’s a dare, more like of a challenge to itself? How do I explain this… I don’t accept dares like they are dares? As an adventurous person that I am, I’m more of exploring and doing new things! Let it be known to all new readers of my blog that I’m not the usual lady-like, demure girl like the others since 1) I’m the boyish type, 2) I’m the only girl out of 3 kids in the family and 3) Out of 10 girls, I’m one of the weirdest, out-of-this-world girl.

That said, here are the 5 things that I ought to challenge myself with, this 2013:

1. To host an Event/Concert

To Host or Not to Host? That is the question!

To Host or Not to Host? That is the question!

pic cr to: Ms. Kring Elenzano

I know, I know. This is really way out of my “comfort zone”. My friends and acquaintances know me as someone who gets nervous entirely and shivers whenever I’m in front of a lot of people, even just in my class–with say, 20 people?

But get this: It’s one of my dreams to entertain a crowd and host an event. I don’t even know why, in my crazy mind, of all things, this one goes first, among all the things that I wanted to do. To be honest, I find this thing–HOSTING–scarier than riding the most death-defying roller coaster in the world (or EK’s Space Shuttle can do) and even bungee jumping, because I find it very very challenging. I just want to see how I can handle myself facing–I don’t know–hundreds or thousand of people and interviewing some on stage and making a fool out of myself, in a really good way.

My inspiration for this: the ever-witty and sexy host of kpop events, Ms. Kring Elenzano. Whatever she does on stage and however she does it, she just enjoys herself!

2. Travelling Solo

Me in Palawan (before going to the Underground River) last December 2011Random fact about me and my family: Before all of us–me and my 2 brothers–were born, mom and dad have already been working abroad aka OFWs in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. So technically we live here, but the truth is we don’t. Me and my brothers grew up and stayed in Saudi Arabia until high school when our parents decided for us to study here in the Philippines. Which means that we get to go to Riyadh yearly–for about a month–and renew our visas.

In our recent trips back and forth to our hometown the Land of Shawarma and Islam, I get to experience travelling solo. I think last year was the perfect example. Since me and my brothers have different school schedules, I was the first one to go to Riyadh that time, on my own. It was such a great experience! And a couple of years back, me and my brothers only, and we had a layover in Hong Kong (because Cathay Pacific haha!) for some 2-3 hours, and we had to argue to which gate we need to go! Ah yes good times.

So my point is, I want to try travelling solo. I want to experience getting lost, wandering, as well as thinking deep thoughts. And as a start I want to experience it here in the Philippines…well, maybe as near as Tagaytay and as far as Batangas?

As the quote of J.R.R. Tolkien goes, “Not all those who wander are lost”.

3. To Invest More in Clothes

How simple I dress!

How simple I dress!

So I’ve mentioned a while back that I’m boyish and outgoing/adventurous, and as a boyish girl goes, I don’t splurge my money on clothes that much. Then I realized that I’m turning 22 this year and all I have in my closet are shirts, denim pants and short pants and an old pair of Chucks and decent Vans.

Before, I thought the splurging my money on clothes are a total waste and instead I splurge more in music, books and kpop merchandises, but now I’m being conscious to what I wear, and of the same clothes I wear over and over again: Same old shirt, pants and shoes. I’m thinking of buying more clothes not just for myself, but of future use as well. I need to more presentable now since I’m graduating and I need more presentable clothes. Plus the fact that I’m getting girlier and girlier as time goes by. Maybe I’m really a late bloomer. O_O

4. To Have My Own Blog Site

Okay, I’ve actually planned this since last year but I haven’t got the chance to take care of it what with our super-duper busy schedule. We had thesis and advertising class, and then I was distracted hard core by kpop to the point that I’ve forgotten my blog and to post something in it.

I’ve been wanting to have my own official site to post more pictures and for me to prioritize blogging every week or every other day to keep it alive. Maybe this year I get to make it official, this time around.

5. To be a Core Member/Staff of a PH-based Fan club

Finally got this last August

Finally got this last August

BAP Philippiness!

BAP Philippines!

*BAP pic cr: BAP-PH Facebook Fanpage
I remember when I started joining International kpop-related forums/fan clubs on December 2009. And my perception that time is to join only the international fan clubs and  not the PH-based ones, because–if I remembered it correctly–I thought about PH-based fan clubs being existent, for the sake of existing. Because there is KPOP. If there is KPOP, we need to have fan clubs, if there is a fan club, there is KPOP. But what if KPOP died? Just like what a lot of Filipinos think that “OPM is dead”–but I strongly believe that it isn’t–KPOP might just be a trend.

But eventually, it is really here to stay, and just last year I officially became a member of CassPH, although I’m a Cassie since 2008. And just this month I became a Core Staff of BAP-PH, a rookie group that I also love as much as I love DBSK.

It’s not just about being a Core Member of a PH-based fan club. What I wish for the fan club in the future is to gain more members and for us to interact more to fellow fans of BAP, and to just do what we have to do for this oh-so-talented rookie group, for them to see what hard work we are doing for them.

So these are the 5 dares that I’ve thought as of late, and there are more in my list, I’m pretty sure! The last one I’ve done it already.

If I have to pick a wild card dare from my partner Haf (in her entry):

*Ride every freaking ride in Enchanted Kingdom or Star City. I’ve been to Enchanted Kingdom, but not Star City–which is sooo ironic since where I interned is just a 5-minute walk from there (we still haven’t got our free tickets LOL). But I am willing and able to ride ALL OF THE RIDES in both amusement parks given that I start 5am haha! I mean, Start City and Enchanted Kingdom have a lot of rides!!!

I hope you guys get to dare/challenge yourself with things that’s out of your comfort zone. I’m sure you’ll get to discover yourself more if you like what you did, or you want to improve yourself more from doing that dare.

Let me know in the comments what your top 5 dares are!! 🙂

Forever 21: A Special Birthday Post

Before I begin with this entry, I just want to say–first of all–I’m sorry for not blogging for the last couple of months. Yes, I’ve abandoned, pretty much, of what has left of me in the blogosphere and I hope my apology is accepted by YOU, dear reader and subscriber of my blog (if there are any…).

Secondly, I will try my best to post all the things that I needed (and wanted) to post here: the past concerts I’ve attended, places to where I’ve been, my summer blog, etc., just for you guys! I’ve been MIA due to an obsession to tumblr-stalking (sorry wordpress, no offense): kpop-related, heavy reading of young adult novels, and watching MORE kpop/korean-related. I know. I should get shot. Moving on…

I JUST CELEBRATED MY BIRTHDAY YESTERDAY!!!! Yes, July is my birthmonth, the 6th was my birthDAY! HUZZAH, I’m twenty-one–*in a 2ne1’s “Fire” tone* TWENNI-WAN–and I can’t thank you enought to all the people who have greeted me yesterday and a few hours after my day ended, and for the very VERY few people who wished me well and other of their wishes for me to be on my 21st.

For the people who greeted me for my birthday, I’m very thankful–yes, thank you facebook for the birthday reminder feature on your site!–but for Few People who made wishes for me, I couldn’t be more thankful enough.

My message: To you, if ever you’ve been a part of my 20th, thank you so much for defining little of me. I hope I have done something relevant to your life and if not, hey, there’s still a year more for my 21st. I’ve been forever thankful for the opportunities that had bee n handed down to me since the last year. The events and concert that I’ve gone to, the perks that I’ve experienced, the people that I’ve met, the artists who have inspired me to do more and to continue the burning passion of what I wanted to do and the bloggers and their blogs who have helped me in a lot of ways. THANK YOU!

To my parents who are not here in the house as I speak–mom is currently in Davao visiting her hometown; Dad is working abroad–I still thank you for bringing me up in such a way not all others do. Even though I’m conservative and sorta mahiyain like that, you still manage to make me a better person each day. And yes, sorry for being a sucky daughter. I promise I’ll make up to you once I get a decent job of my dreams. I’ll make you proud!!!

To my friends–from Saudi, UST, CEU, concerts, kpop & YT community–I’m so happy and thankful that I get to meet such nice people, and sharing my interests with all of you. I don’t know what I’d do to my life if I didn’t meet you. So yeah, thank you.

And of course to the sole reason of why I’m here living my life, and to the One who has given me the talent of taking pictures (uhmm…I kinda acknowledge my talent in some odd ways), to the person whom I seek the most, my God Jesus Christ, thank you for everything that You’ve done to my 21 years and I cannot wait of what’s in store for me in the coming future.

THANK YOU is such an understatement of  a phrase.

What my day had been: July 6 was a school day. #TGIF I’ve been in school the whole day, from 1-6pm and it’s just all too ordinary. I get to re-pass my COC (Certificate of Candidacy)–thanks a lot, SAO and COMELEC. *sarcasm*–due to a “problem” afflicted with my units. WTF. But yeah, still thankful that they accepted it, finally. Oh yeah, I run Vice President in my university’s Photographer’s Club. Vote for me!

So 3 hours of thesis class, and no professor on the first period…typical day. Until the night came through. Two of my (countless) favorite people in the world–or maybe in school–treated me for some burger dinner at Gateway!! I should be doing the treating, but since I’m financially challenged, they did it instead. Again, THANK YOU! InstaSpam, huh!

Hadi and KC: Nomming the night away in Gateway Foodcourt!

We be nomming at Gateway mall, around 7pm, IN UNIFORM! O.o KC and Me

We three are big believers and fans of Burger King’s burger…and FRIES! Hence the massive order! LOL. #NomNation

And this is how it looks–how clean it was–after we’re done! =)) We pig out every so often. 😛

Me with the future MYX VJ, Hadi!!! Yes he is one of the hopefuls so go support him! (shameless plugging LOL)

So this is us, enjoying our meal, LOLing and talking nonstop!! 🙂 I miss these guys! 😐

Hadi being problematic (it shows!) on his BB because of its broken LCD screen. Follow him on twitter for more goodness, song covers and his MYX VJ adventure @hypehadz 🙂

That said, I’ll officially celebrate my birthday next weekend since my mom will be here to assist and whatnots, and yeah…THANK YOU!

Thank you for sharing your life with the Photography Girl and she can’t wait to see you more of and your good deeds in her life. Much love and respect!

Fiction Becomes Reality: Wong Fu Productions Live in Manila

Much has happened this 2012, and I couldn’t be more thankful. I’ve been saying my thanks for infinite of times, and this event made me more thankful. And yes, once again, I thank God for all the blessings that He has given me this year, and it’s just surreal to believe that a lot has happened.

Of Late Vacation and #Team Gale!

What up, lovies? This is a spontaneous post for the one who didn’t have the time to do it lately…like me.

A week ago was our last day of school, and I’m glad I’ve finally “graduated”. Technically, our last day was the 24th, but since I’m on my 3rd year, the school had other plans. Apparently all junior and senior college students were required to attend the annual Sampaguita Interlude, a passing of the senior’s duties to the juniors by–yes, you got that right– hanging a Sampaguita garland on our necks. And we need to perform a somewhat simple, dance moves accompanying with 4 songs, of which we had to sing. So we need to simultaneously do the singing and dancing part. Big deal.

CEU formation made by the seniors aka graduating students batch 2012, under the thin sheets of summer rain. Poor them.

Flower formation by the graduating students. 🙂

But then it rained. Le sigh. So the outcome of the interlude: juniors drenched in their usual daily uniform, seniors with their toga. The day ended with me visiting my nearest book store and finding a “The Hunger Games” 3-in-1 pack.

Speaking of The Hunger Games, the movie adaptation based on the book of the same title by the amazing Suzanne Collins is already out, and me and the rest of Hunger Games Philippines, Philippine-based fan club of the book trilogy, as well as the early go-getters of the tickets, were the ones who saw it first before the whole world, last March 21 in the advanced screening at the SM Mall of Asia.

I’ll make a separate blog of the advanced screening.

Truth be told, I haven’t finished the last book–Mockingjay–yet, but I’ve finished the first one though. The “The Hunger Games” one.

Hold that thought. Correction: I’m finally done with Mockingjay, and although there are some parts of the book that lacked in detail, I think there’s nothing wrong with the ending. The star-crossed lovers who’re mentally deranged lived happily ever after. I’ve been Team Gale for the last 2 books, but Mockingjay definitely made me Team Peeta. I ♥ the boy with the bread.

And how time flies super fast. Holy week has come and gone, and people are still living the summer heat this vacation. How’s your vacation doing?

With love always, The Photography Girl.

P.S: I promise you I’ll be blogging relevant, events/concert-related posts soon.

Close-Up Encounters: Red Roses Tour: AJ Rafael Live in Manila

In the past January 18’s of my life, it’s either I spent the day as any ordinary day it was or hang out with my friends…or just get busy with school works.

But for this year, January 18 was life-changing. Unforgettable, even.

Close-Up Encounters: The Art in my Heart: Clara C in Manila

Recently — December 1, 2011 to be exact — I’ve gone to a concert of one of youtube’s sweetest sensations. And that is none other than Clara C. Not the most life-changing concerts, but definitely one of the most joyful to keep.
