Commitments

Flying to Richmond
I'm home now from three months in Haiti, and I'm determined that I allow my time there to change my life! These are things I learned from my Haitian friends and fellow Sustain Haiti volunteers that I've committed to try every day to apply to my life:

-show love with all love languages
-don't shy away from physical touch
-be talkative with strangers
-say "I love you" to everyone
-don't get caught up in material possessions
-take time to talk to others and listen intently
-tell people they are beautiful
-have deep gratitude
-don't be afraid to love and be happy despite past trials and broken hearts
-pay attention to others to truly read how they're feeling
-say things as they are (don't beat around the bush)
-share! give half of what I have
-notice the way others serve and serve them back in that way
-feel empathy for others - try and really put myself in their shoes to feel what they are feeling
-be patient when teaching others - go at their pace
-notice people on the way to wherever I'm going and minister according to their needs
-follow the Spirit to serve - listen to those little promptings to help family and others
