Merry Trismas

Christmas was (always is) spent with my favorite people who participate in some of my favorite holiday traditions. Family Christmas pics, Cousins pyramid, and several other Christmas musts. This year on our drive home from Nan's we listened to Roy D. Mercer (classy) instead of looking for Santa in the sky......
Christmas day is so bitter-sweet, it comes and goes too quick!Katie drew my name for the family gift exchange at Nan's. Katie is known for her fabulous gift giving skills. For me, Katie buying me a gift = a Zac Efron/ Michael Phelps Christmas. Love it all Kate, you are the best! She even SPLURGED and got Zac wrapping paper- RICH!!!

We did it!!!

Amy and I set a goal to go to the temple once a month during 2008 and last night we went for the 12th time! I have never completed a New Years Resolution before and it feels soooo good! I am so proud of us Aim, thanks for helping me reach this goal!

What has been making me happy....

COUSINS CHRSTMAS PARTY 12/14- Clay and Heather hosted a fabulous Palmer cousins Christmas party. We sure missed the Glenns, Dillinghams, and Cooleys. We had a great gift exchange and enjoyed each others company out by the fire. Thanks Clay and Heather!
The Riley's invited me, Allie, and Aaron over to
decorate ginger bread cookies. We had such a fun time, I just love those kids. 12/19 Beth came home from Hawaii for the holidays. Britt, Beth, and I met for lunch. So fun to hear about her adventures in Hawaii and her new beau! 12/20

Garrett and Jen are engaged! I am so excited for them! Their proposal story is the cutest and I could not have hand picked a better guy for my best friend. Congrats guys! 12/21
Nice job Garrett!
I got to see Wally. He is such a cutie. He would be wrapped around his daddy's finger for sure. 12/22

There is a reason why it's called the most wonderful time of the year! Ah, I wish it did not have to end!

Ugh..

What am I doing...........I SHOULD be grading book reports, Danger in the Desert lit logs, practicing for the Spelling Bee (I am the one who reads the word in a sentence-it is intense), making the sample ornament my students are going to make their parents for the holidays,or making my thank you gifts for my ever so faithful parent volunteers....
I choose blogging.

Anywhoo, I HATE my hair. It's not the cut, nor the color. I am actually pleased with both. My head of hair seriously has a mind of its own. It is uber (I despise that word) curly and I spend so long drying and ironing it. I know it has potential because when I have Jennalee cut and color my hair, she can fix it cute. It isn't that I don't buy the best products. In fact I am sure Ulta loves me. I walk in with SUCKER written on my forehead and anything they suggest, I purchase. I buy name brand shampoo/conditioner, I have a $120 Chi flat iron, Seriously Straight, and Chi hair serum.... see? the best.

So, I hear it is all in the wrist action when you blow your hair dry....I think that is where I am going wrong (although I have every size CHI ceramic round brush there is). I know that Dolce offers a blow drying class and I think I am getting desperate enough to take it.

Got suggestions? I need help from you cute hair girls... There are tons of you so cough up those secrets.

ps- did you know it was "all of a sudden" and NOT "All of the sudden?"

30, flirty, and thriving.... and she is!

Happy 30th birthday Kate. You never made 30 look so good.......

There are so many things I love about Katie. She is the best "big" sister a girl could ask for.
Favorite Katie memories:
*Dying our hair white... no we didn't mean to, we got side tracked and left the bleach on too long. Not a pretty look.
*Our quick Disney trip when we drove all night, Disney'd all day, and about blew 400 bones on a hotel room because we couldn't walk another step. (The Magic Kingdom was our destination, "to have fun" was our explanation). Oh, and was that the trip we met Marsha? Oh, Marsha... she didn't have much but by golly she had her yearly Disney pass!
*Our first camping experience with friends.... we didn't even know how to set up a tent!
*Our trip to San Fran (meeting Chad, "hello folks.") and biking the Golden Gate while singing the Full House theme song!
* The "damn" goose
* Utah for conference. I could barely stay awake, you taught me to drive stick, I hit something bigger than a cat, but smaller than a bear, (while you all were asleep- I cried) and almost ran into a semi.. in your NEW car!
* Singing to 3 of Hearts and Austin going to and from church
* Katie set me up on a date with my crush, Jason when I was 16. It was the best night ever...
* Driving to Casa Grande with Lachelle Bridges and Amy Campbell to a swim meet and doing a little investigating.. I think this bordered on creepy!

Here's to 30 more....
I love Thanksgiving day. I think the reason why I love it so much is because it is the start of "the season."
I did.. I helped (Katie I lied.. I did not make this, I helped mom you silly girl) make this delicious pumpkin roll. It is my absolute favorite dessert on thanksgiving! My mom was determined to have me help her make it.
I am thankful for so many things this year. I am very thankful for my job and the sweet little kiddos I get to work with every day. They make my life so much fun and remind me to relax and enjoy each day. A couple days before the break I sent home 3 die-cuts where each student's parent(s) were to write what they were thankful for about their child. They were the sweetest little messages and I got a little choked up with each one I read. Parents were very specific, it was so sweet. I read each one in front of the class and the kids LOVED it.

The new Riter's

What a fun day. After a LONG (7 months- HA HA) engagement Amy and Davey are finally married. They are some of my most favorite people and I felt honored to have been part of this special day. Daniel, me, Bonnie, Allie (Hillary Clinton), Aaron, and Matty

Mr. and Mrs. David Riter Julie (Amy's sister) and me on the trolley ride back to the Wright house.
I got "unlimited hugs" from Amy's adorable nephew Drew... ALL DAY. He is the sweetest, loving little boy. I think I am going to see if he can come over and play.
Amy had the coolest photo booth for her guests to take pictures in. You taped one picture inside a book for Amy and Davey and you kept the rest. Here is the note Allie and I left in their book. Sorry it is a little blurry.

"It's just so....shocking"- former student

I wish I had my fake nose ring to fool all you in to thinking I got my nose pierced. But, just a change in hair style. Way to go Joy and Laura! It has faded a wee bit since I first got it done. When I went to pick up my kids the morning after, these are some of the things I heard.

"Are you going to keep it like that?" - My student

"Why did you do that?" - kid I don't know

"I know why you dyed your hair.. you always said you like to try new things." -former student

"I liked your hair better the other way." - former student

"At least it isn't red like last year."- former student (yeah, never had red hair last year)

"I think I like it." - Miss Rigby

"I like your new hair do, Miss A." - 2nd grader

I just laughed. I think that is what I spend most of my day doing. Who can't love an honest comment coming from a "little darlin?"

Yes, this is hanging above my bed. I bought it for Allie, but I had to tell her it was completely inappropriate to take when she got married and moved out. She fell for it... (hey, my mom had Nick, from the Backstreet Boys, hanging in her room for years.) Belee me.

Guessing game

This is a game for anyone who has not seen me in awhile....for those who know, don't ruin it or I will hurt you.

Apparently I have been the talk amongst the chillins at school. Several teachers have come up to me and told me their students are whispering about me during class, at recess, in the hallways (gasp), and in the lunchroom. Anyone want to guess WHY???????

AND it is not because they found out I have seen HSM 3, 4 different times.

Carrie Underwood

Kristen, me, Jenny, Michelle, Adrienne, Stefanie, and Juuuulie (no, my hands are not holding any beverages).
Carrie put on a great show. She is just so dang cute. I can't believe how much she has accomplished in her short 3 years as a country artist. I mean anyone who is inducted to the Grand Ol' Opry has "made it" in my opinion. When she sang American Girl she brought this little girl on stage to sing with her. I choked up... it was so cute.
JAMA girls- Any night with these girls is an entertaining night. Apparently Jenny heard "Dance Works pose." (someone remind ME to never stand like that)

I wish it were LAST monday

...exactly 192 hours ago, I was feeling 8 again while at the New Kids concert. I have seriously said it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. All I am sayin is my crush has shifted.... It is no longer Jonathan but now DONNY!!!! Such a fun night- I think they sound better now than 15 years ago. (10-13)

The Goo Goo Dolls came to the State Fair- we bought the general admission tickets, but once we got to the
Coliseum this shifty man approached us with reserved seating tickets. He said he'd sell them to us for $5 each. We were a bit skeptical when he gave us the tickets and they had already been ripped and slashed with a big fat red marker. They ended up being legit so we were so excited to enjoy the concert much closer. Jonny Resznik is my "other" rocker crush (besides Jon Bon). My pictures didn't turn out too well because all their lighting was blue or red. (10-16) You can't go to the State Fair with out enjoying some Fry Bread. AND really, where do the people who attend the State Fair hide the remainder of the year? There were some of all kinds. (Yes, we ate "Indian Fry, Ouch mom, Brittany pinched me.")
