Week 14 – It’s EduTechNovation Day!

Assalamualaikum and hi everybody!

So it’s already week fourteen and it’s EduTechNovation Day! πŸ˜€

Basically, we were required to present our slides presentation and our video production project, just like last week. We had prepared everything so that the same mistakes won’t happen again during our presentation. We had also made a few changes on our video and our poster, according to what Dr. Rosseni and Mr. Helmi had commented last week in our Facebook group. We were glad that they helped us a lot by giving us ideas and suggestions in order for us to create a magnificent video and poster. Without their guidance, we believe that we won’t be able to finish everything perfectly on time.

It was great to have some of our seniors as the guests on that day. Their presence somehow inspire us to do well for our group presentation πŸ˜‰ every group’s presentation went well and the feedback from Dr. Rosseni, Kak Ana, Mr. Helmi, Kak Wani, Imran (our third year senior) really made us happy πŸ™‚

We could see that the other groups had also made a few changes on their video compared to last week’s and we do admit that everybody had done better this time. It was great to see all those videos because most of us didn’t have any experiences in creating videos and stuff before, but all of us managed to successfully created one for this course. We realized that new skills can actually be learned. It is all depends on our own self. It may be hard for a little while, but it is going to be worth it in the end. All the skills that we have got throughout completing our video production project in this course can also be used in the future, especially if we were meant to be future teachers. These new experiences will surely be valuable for each one of us.

Although we were working in a few different groups, we still helped each other out with the video. Being in a different groups did not mean that we were different, instead we felt like we needed each other more. It was fun working as a big team, although we basically had our own small group. Team work is what we learned best in this course. Just like a saying in The Three Musketeers, “All for one, one for all!” πŸ˜‰

We were also happy for the appreciation given to us by Dr. Rosseni and the other awesome tutors. Each group received a hamper each and that was more than enough for us.

The past fourteen weeks might have been quite tough and complicated for us, but we strongly agree that we have learned a lot during the process. We met awesome educators and we were so into the way they approached us. We might not be easy, but they kept helping us out until we had successfully done with our project. It was a bless to have such educators like Dr. Rosseni, Kak Ana, Mr. Helmi, Brother Fuad, Kak Wani and the others. We felt appreciated and loved. Thank you everybody! πŸ™‚

Working as a team was not easy, but it was worth it. We shared ideas, motivation and even the fun times together. We had never worked together as a team before, and getting the opportunity to work together now is a bless. We completed each other and we had never had fights throughout completing this project. We were glad that we had this opportunity to get to know each other better. Despite of getting new knowledge and experiences, we have also created a new friendship in this course. We have learned a lot and we are glad that we did. We hope that all the things that we have got in this course will be valuable for our future needs as we grow up.

So, thank you to everybody whom has helped us a lot with our video production project. May we meet again someday! Have a nice day ahead people! πŸ˜€

Pre-EduTechNovation Day (Week 13)

Well hello everybody! πŸ˜€

So, it’s a week before EduTechNovation Day and we were asked to present our video production project as a preparation for next week.

We were glad that we have finally got this video done. And we were also happy that Dr. Rosseni said that she likes it πŸ™‚ but we do realize that the lighting in this video is a bit bright, so we had decided to edit it for one last time before we present it again next week, for the EduTechNovation Day. We surely want to impress the audience on that day πŸ˜‰

During the slides presentation, there were a slight technical problem with the slides, so the presentation went quite bad because of that. Personally, it did affect some of us. We had prepared the slides the night before and we had never thought that there will be any problems during the presentation. But when it happened, it did make some of us felt sad and demotivated. We realized that we were not prepared for this kind of situation and that is one of the reasons why we felt so down when it happened. We believed that we should have prepared for any kind of problems that could have happened and prepare for its solution too so that we know what to do when it happens.

1467457_10151828845278870_1344520395_n

Apart from that, we were also satisfied with our poster, although we have to edit a few more parts on it so that it will look more like a proper poster. Creating our own poster by ourselves is not as easy as it seems. We do agree that it is satisfying to see the result when it is done, although the process of doing it is quite complicated. We had to take many things into consideration; the suitability of the background colour with the other wordings and pictures, the suitability of the pictures chosen with our topic, the tagline and many more. But despite all that, we learned a lot and we gained new skills in using Photoshop. Well, it’s complicated, but it’s fun! πŸ˜€

We were fascinated with the other groups’ video. All of the groups did so well that they successfully made us go “awwwwww” with their videos :p Minnion Production team’s video brought tears to some of us with its beautiful message about loving your mother before it’s too late. While some of the groups did so well with the animation of their videos. We could see that although most of us have no past experience in creating our own video, still, all of us could finally bring this video production project to success. We believe that when there’s a will, there’s a way. We were also glad that we have gotten this opportunity to be a part of this course because of its awesome lecturer and tutors. Without their helps and guides, we won’t get this far. Thank you everybody πŸ™‚

1476393_571914936217473_363094956_n

We have to get back to work because it’s a few more days before EduTechNovation Day and we won’t want the same thing to happen again. So, keep calm and ace your video production project well guys! πŸ˜‰

Week 13

4th December 2013

Hello !! We continued with our discussion and shooting. Since we plan to have a sticky note part for the last scene, we prepared our sticky notes and I tried to find suitable instrumental songs for our music background. I had a hard time finding suitable songs because most of them are copyrighted music in Youtube. Finally i found 2 songs with Ajeerah’s help πŸ™‚

For the narration part, Ajeerah agreed to record her voice and she would do it in her room.

Then we moved to outdoor for our group pictures. Even though it was raining lightly, we had fun.

7th December 2013Β

First of all, We kinda had a “talk” with Dr.Rosseni yesterday regarding blog reflections. It seemed that we were not doing a good job in writing reflections. Most of us scored badly even though Kak Ana tried to give us higher marks. 4 of us felt bad as we knew that we focus more on shooting video than writing reflections in our blogs. We promised we won’t repeat the same mistakes again. Thank you to Dr.Rosseni and facilitators for being so kind and patient.

Next Dr.Rosseni explained about EDUTECHNOVATION DAY which is on 13th December. We were required to create a poster using photoshop. We already decided to use “It’s not a bout being beautiful. It’s about being healthy” for our tagline. It was Fatin Ameerah’s idea.

Mr.Helmi, Kak Ana and Bro Fuad went around to give their final comments about our video. We had some problems whereΒ the audio and video out-of-sync, narration speech was too soft due to noisy background and the video was stuck after inserting narration. Mr.Helmi asked us to purchase a new microphone

12th December 2013

It was such a busy day for us before the day of presentation. Dr.Rosseni wanted the best from us hence we kept on editing poster and video to gain her acknowledgement. This was the first time I worked under high pressure to fulfill her requirements. Even though Dr.Rosseni said we don’t have to print out poster first, but we were still worried as tomorrow is the day and the printing shop at Kajang would be close around 10pm.

We decided to print it out just to be save. However after 1 hour, Dr.Rosseni commented on our poster post in fb group where we needed to improve it again.Β Well, we did changed our poster based on Dr’s suggestion and here’s our final product.

Poster7aa

As for our video, Ajeerah had trouble saving it in her laptop after editing with Movie Maker. Besides that it seemed like there was a problem with video after inserting narration. She asked for help from other groups and finally our problem was solved.

Discussion: It’s shooting day!

Assalamualaikum and good morning people! πŸ˜€

It is a very good day to share our favourite moments which is our video shooting day! We chose to shoot our video at Bilik Seminar 13, PPBL because we are in need of a whiteboard and a very good lighting to help us create a magnificent life drawing video.

IMG_9019

The progress went well and we had so much fun capturing photos and videos for our video production project. Through this video shooting activity, we learned about the importance of team work. While Tenmeera was drawing in front, Ajeerah and I (Farah) helped her out by handling the camera and Yen Yen searched for music background. We believe that this kind of team work will help us a lot in bringing this video production project to success. We are now a few steps closer to finishing this project and we hope that everything will turn out according to plan.

Here is a few pictures of us for you, our dear readers! ^^

Till then, have a good day everyone!

Week 12 : Photoshop Part II

It’s good to be able to learn about Photoshop again. We had already forgotten the basic steps on how to use Photoshop, but Mr. Helmi helped us again in revising them. Phewww thank you Mr. Helmi! He showed us how practice is needed for us to be good in something. Without our efforts to improve, there will be no satisfying result for it. We learned our lesson and we have promised to keep on doing this so that we can be good in it someday.

Kak Ana also reminded us to keep on updating our group blog so that they can evaluate our works and give marks to it.

There’s nothing much to share in this entry. So here is what I have done for this week’s class πŸ˜‰

Untitled

This may look too simple but this is all that I can do for this is my first time of doing this. Wanna share yours to us? πŸ™‚

Week 11 : Mid-term Assessment

Hi everyone! It’s time of presenting our progress so far in this video-making project πŸ™‚

Instead of using Powerpoint, we have chosen to use a web-tool named Prezi to present our mid-term presentation. It’s cool as it is free, yet it offers so many free and nice template designs! You should try okay? Hihi

Well, our presentation highlighted on the introduction about both obesity and anorexia, our objectives in the video-making project and our expectation for this project. All four of us contributed well in the preparation and presentation. Farah and Ajeerah have explained about the introduction part, Yenyen has covered the objectives to achieve and Tenmeera has explained about the expectation. Feel free to view our nice and beneficial presentation slides, powered by Prezi πŸ™‚

After that, we have presented our video-recorded, naturally without any editing. Basically, it only consist of the main scenes in the storyboard. Β The lecturer and the tutors have commented on it and they are looking forward to watch the final video soon πŸ™‚ Yes, we did plan to re-record it since we only use phone camera at first and the quality of video is not so good. So, we plan to borrow DSLR from a friend of Farah to have better quality of video later πŸ™‚

Every groups have presented their video-making progress. We’re impressed of everybody’s hard work. Keep it up guys!

Before we end the class, Kak Ana has treated all of us with delicious-yummy Nasi Lemak. Of course, we like it. Thanks Kak Ana πŸ™‚

Till then, adios guys!

Love,
Bananana Production.

logo-photoshop
Actually, I was waiting for this lecture. Why? People could do wonders with Photoshop ! I was curious and amused by it. Hence, I would really like to learn how to use Photoshop which is useful in my life ~

My reaction after Mr.Helmi taught us for 10 minutes >>>Β surpriseΒ It was really confusing and hard with all those tools of selection on the left. Basically, he taught us the basic tools such as pollygonal/magnetic lassor tool, pain bucket tools, blur effects and inserting text.

Thanks alot to Mr.Helmi, Kak Ana and Bro Fuad for teaching us patiently so that each and everyone of us was able to understand. Even though I had a hard time using photoshop, but i hope that at the end of this course, I would be able to master the basic skills. I wanted to learn how to edit a picture just like the avatar picture above ^^
It is the manyΒ little steps, taken every day, that lead to great success.Β

Week 8 : Windows Movie Maker

Assalamualaikum and Hi everyone!

Today, I’m the moderator! Who? It’s me Tenmeera πŸ˜€

Well, lecture for this week has well conducted by our awesome TA, Mr Helmi. He has covered an important topic that closely related to our video production which video editing using Windows Movie Maker. He has suggested us to use the older version of it, not the latest one. We do agree with him because the older version is very practical and user friendly, especially for the first time user πŸ™‚

windows-movie-maker

Interface : Windows Movie Maker

First, he has supplied us with some materials (background music, short video) to be used in the video editing process. The first lesson is on how to import video/photo/audio. Then, he proceeds with how to eliminate background sound of the video imported as we’re going to import other background music into the video. Next, he introduces us the transition or animation that can be applied to the video/photo to make our final video more interesting and fun.

Later, he has taught us on how to add title, caption and also credits at the end of the video soon. Besides, he remind us to Save As the project so that if unwanted-expected thing (computer hang, out of battery, etc) happen, at least we’ve already have the back-up. He keeps remind us to Save after sometime so that we won’t regret much if anything happen. Isn’t it quite terrible to accept that all datas/editing done so far, lost in a blink of your eyes just if you don’t save it? Beware and alert!

There’s a lot of more other new things we learn in this lesson. Before we come out with a final video, editing is a MUST procedure to be done. It’s a way to make our video more neat, well-arranged plus to add more interesting and fun to it, so that the video can attract people to watch it. In other way, video editing can also be a way of showing appreciation to those people who have contribute and work hard in producing it (credits).

Windows Movie Maker is not the only video editor. There’re a lot more online as well as offline. The practicality of WMM makes it suitable for all range of users πŸ™‚

Till then, thank you !

Week 7 – Short Presentation

Hello-Kitty-hello-kitty-182220_1024_768

Hello people. Yen Yen here ^^

We met again for week 7 lecture after one week of Hari Raya Haji holidays. Lecturers wanted to know more about our video proposal that we did for week 5. Ways of shooting and the story line of our video.

I did a short presentation as a representative of Bananana Production because my 3 members were involved in a program under JPPEL. They were unable to come.

Mr.Helmi asked my group to proceed with our video shooting as it was quite easy to shootΒ Β because it only involved drawing stick figures on whiteboard.Β It won’t be too hard to edit the video too wen it did not require any tough step.

Week 6: Online Discussion

It’s holiday time! yeayy!! Oopsss no don’t be too happy because we have lots of work to do, remember? The 6th lecture of Educational Technology subject is postponed to another week because most of us are still in vacation mode πŸ˜‰ however that doesn’t mean we can forget our work. Our video project, to be exact. Although there’s no face-to-face interaction for us that week, we use other alternative to keep our discussion going.

When it comes to discussion, facebook has been a really helpful medium to share our ideas and to discuss about our project. We discussed about who is in charge of drawing the figures throughout the video, who is going to record the drawing process, who is in charge of narration and so much more. Yen Yen is in Johor, Farah is in Pahang, Ajeerah is in Negeri Sembilan and Fatin Ameerah is in Kedah all of us live in different states but that doesn’t stop us from working on our video project.
