The Goodbye Girl

An email in my inbox from my hosting company screams, “RENEW NOW!” and I find myself considering my options. Should I renew? If I renew, should I consider going back to SL? I know what I’ve been thinking about in my mind for months now, but when it comes down to the final decision, will I make it, or will I go back to my virtual life?
But, after all, all things must come to an end eventually. And life, both real and imaginary, must go on. Sadly, my imaginary one must go on without me. It’s time to say goodbye and let go of my now-dormant escape from reality.
I’ve met so many people who meant so much to me and some I know I will never ever forget. Some I still find time to reach out to and connect with, and hopefully that won’t change. Hopefully the people I’ve made a connection with and know I will miss dearly won’t forget me, won’t let go.
In no particular order, I want to thank the following people for having an impact on my life:
• Nyte Caligari
• Surrealia Anatine
• Gillian Waldman
• TheDiva Rockin
• Aradia Dielli
• Grazia Horwitz

• All of the wonderful people I worked with as part of the 2008 Inaugural Footwear Expo
• The staff of Seven Ultra Lounge
• Anyone I’ve forgotten: Please blame the lateness of the hour and my poor memory rather than lack of remembrance of you.
When my hosting expires in May, the blog will be taken down and all posts will be moved to my previous blog, Be Less Stupid! on WordPress, for archival purposes.
If you seek me, you know where you can find me.
Goodbye.
Elika’s Back!
November 26, 2008 at 7:28 pm | Posted in Random | Leave a commentOkay, okay, I know this is really not news for everyone, that she’s been back for awhile…but I’ve been away for a long time and all I need now are distractions to well…distract me. So I wanted to celebrate the return of my favourite hair goddess and showcase some of her and amazing hair!
Since ETD is having a massive massive sale right now, it’s also the perfect time to remind you of that, and that you can get your favourite ‘do’s in some new colours!
My absolute favourite (currently) is the Vasha hair, on the left. A long-haired low ponytail with messy bits on the side framing the face, it’s the hair that most resembles my own in real life, in style anyway. I’ve worn it here in Caramel Burnt, but it’s available in a billionty different colours too.
Mahogany is another gorgeous colour and it looks beautiful on the cute updo on the right, Yvette. I absolutely adore the wavy tendrils on the side and the tiny but cute bun in the back. It’s exactly what one’s hair would look like if they had short wavy hair, and I appreciate the realism that Elika has in her hairstyles.
I don’t actually bother to demo ETD’s hair anymore before I purchase it. Now, I wouldn’t normally recommend not demo’ing, but I’ve bought enough ETD hair over the past year and a half that I trust the posters to represent themselves accurately, and the size is always fine for me. So when I got Tiana as a fatpack from Elika for my giant poster that was in her main window for the past several months (and it’s gone now, *sniff*), I hadn’t tried it on and I hadn’t even seen it in-world yet. So a tiny little part of me was a bit apprehensive about it, because she had described it as poofy on Plurk. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am not against poof, but it can be all wrong! Luckily, I had nothing to worry about. Even the more specialized hair at ETD is still lovely and works for all sorts of things! This is my new favourite hair to wear when I’m clocking hours at Blaze, which I’ve been ignoring for too long now.
On the right is Laine, another updo. I am a big fan of the bangs in this one, and how they sweep across the face. I have no idea how people get so freakin’ talented with the prims, cuz I swear I’ve tried but I have never managed to make any sort of prim look like anything other than a rectangle. *Maybe* a cylinder 😛
So check out Elika’s blog for the skinny on her amazing sale that is going on for at least another month, and take a lot of Lindens. Cuz you’ll need them.

Quick & Dirty – Reel Expression & MichaMi
November 26, 2008 at 1:59 am | Posted in Random | 3 CommentsNot feeling too great these days, and probably everyone knows why, but I took this picture and I wanted to post it just because I love all the elements in it so much.
I truly do love this new outfit by Milla Michinaga, called Carmela. It comes in a black version, and then a black and camel version, and of course on every conceivable available layer. Milla gets more and more talented with every release, and while I miss her fashion posts, I am glad she put all that energy into something useful if she didn’t want to do her blog anymore.
Luth Brodie, the grandmaster poobah Grande Dame of poses (her affectionate title is going to get longer and longer each time I mention it) recently came out with a new Wall Set, called…wait for it…Wall Set V2! She’s so creative with her poses, it saps her energy when it comes time to name the sets! Just kidding 😛 I love these poses, and there were quite a few that looked pretty good with the skirt, which is obviously difficult when you’re talking system skirts, and especially printed system skirts. She includes the wall, and the poses inside the wall, but the wall is moddable so you can adjust it or retexture it, or rip out the poses to put in your pose stand, whatever.
Check out the newness from Reel Expression and MichaMi!

Curio skins by Gala
October 12, 2008 at 9:33 pm | Posted in Curio | 1 CommentI think the skin designers in SL® are all conspiring together to make me poor. Not only are there amazing new skins by Tuli, La Sylphide, SLink, etc. etc., there are also new makeups by Curio! Of course, Curio skin designer Gala Phoenix just had to up her ante before going on holiday by holding a 10-for-L$3000 sale right beforehand! Luckily, I heard about this just in the nick of time and got my fanny down there to rez and pick out a few *cough* of my favourites!
Shown above are two of the eight new dramatic makeups, which are separated into two packs, but both of these happen to be from the Dramatic I pack. Dramatic they certainly are, and I love the makeups and the faces of these. I mean, how cute is that button nose anyway?! I really like the eyebrows as well, and the general look of the skintone. They’re not too smooth and flat, and there’s a bit of a texture to the cheeks, which I think looks great.
Each skin you purchase comes with both a plain and freckled complexion, though I’ve only shown the plain today. What can I say, it took me three days to be able to take these few with my connection 😛
These are both from the Basic II package, which was my first choice when I was trying to decide on new skins. They’re fairly classic and easy-going and follow my own personal aesthetic, which is to glam up either the eyes or the lips, not both (unless you’re going for the dramatic look).
I really like that there are so many different types of makeup available too, from a clean and simple makeup-free look, to a simple gloss for daytime, to full-on red lips and smoky eyes for those most sexy of occasions.
Finally, we have…Crazy Eyes, in case it wasn’t quite evident from the makeup on the left. It’s not your everyday makeup, but it is definitely runway-ready for those who aspire to walk the catwalk.
This specific sale is over, but I heard that there are regular sales, and if there’s nothing going on at the moment, you can pick up each makeup for L$1000 each, or a fatpack of four for L$3000. If she does a sale like this again though, I highly recommend taking advantage since you’re able to pick and choose the makeups you like from each pack, if you don’t like all of them in a single pack.
Teleport to Curio and check ’em out!
Quick & Dirty: Flirt-y and Gorgeous
October 12, 2008 at 8:46 pm | Posted in Flirt | 2 CommentsFlirt is one of the jewelry vendors at the expo this week, and one of the only booths that I actually wanted to stop at and check out. I am less than impressed this year at the selection, though the event itself is well done to cut down on the lag.
I loitered in front of Flirt’s booth for quite a while, looking at the gorgeous posters with the fancy jewelry, and I couldn’t decide what I wanted for the life of me! My connection is not that great these days, so I crashed soon afterwards, and later on when I tried it again, I discovered that Flirt propietors Peter Stindberg (business and PR) and Skinkie Winkler (designer) had actually sent me a couple of samples of their work!
My absolute favourite was the Tiffany set in Ruby, and I put it right on. The bracelet and necklace are script-resizeable, and though my connection is too slow to handle most types of menus and scripts, I did manage to get these fitted on me with not too much work. They’re well-done and the bling is non-existent (yay!) and besides ruby, they come in several other gemstone types, so even if rubies aren’t your thing, there’s plenty else to choose from.
Arr?

La Sylphide’s Erin
October 9, 2008 at 3:03 am | Posted in La Sylphide | 3 CommentsLa Sylphide’s newest skins are named after designer Stephanie Misfit’s SL partner, the cutie patootie Dakota Buck (real name Erin), and they are absolutely gorgeous! If you’re even a casual reader of the fashion feed, you will probably remember these because it seems absolutely everyone had to have them (with good reason, of course).
I finally managed to get my hands on them, and then of course came the move and the lack of a stable internet connection, so it’s a bit late, but it actually works out perfectly because she’s released two new skintones recently, so I can yap about those too!
All of the skintones are fairly light, with the differences between the current four slight, but I personally really like that about these skins. You know when you get into a new designer that makes gorgeous skins, but the tones are not quite right for you? Well, with the very subtle changes in each of these tones, you’re bound to find the perfect one that suits you to a tee.
The Light tone is the palest of all the tones, and the one that I think suits me most, but then I always tend to go paler if I can. The makeups are fairly classic and clean, and they have the thicker eyebrows that are very fashionable right now on the streets and runways of Real Life®. I heart these skins. A lot.
Tan is the next tone up, and like I mentioned before the difference is not too great, but you can see it’s got a bit darker complexion. What I really like is that this “tan” tone is not the orangey-George-Hamilton tone you’d most likely find, but a natural tan you’d have if you were outside for an hour a day. These eyebrows, the gorgeous eyebrows, frame the face so well and it makes your eyes just pop out! It’s so intense and just gorgeous.
Toasted is one of the brand new tones that were released the other day, and these new skintones prompted me to try and get my connection fixed so I could photograph these lovely works of art. They are so beautiful and just so…lickable (trust me, I know, I licked my screen :P)
Bronze is the final and darkest tone (so far), and I’m not sure if she’ll be going darker. I actually really love this tone, it’s right up there as the one I’d wear the most along with Light.
Now, as most people who read my blog know, I never show the bits and I don’t always show the body. You can see the collar bone in this shot, which I think is really subtle and pretty and soft looking. I hate it when collar bones are too pronounced, as I think it just looks weird in SL, but hey, to each their own. This one is perfect. Dakota mentioned to me that she loves the lady-parts on this skin, and believes that it’s the best one in all of SL. After she said that, I took a look, because I don’t really tend to look at them too often, but she’s right. Nothing’s too big and nothing is sticking out awkwardly, it’s just very clean and understated. And bald. If you like bald, this’ll work for you. The shading on the body overall is absolutely amazing, and there’s not a hint of grease anywhere, but there is a bit of dewy freshness, which to me is the prettiest look. I love the highlighting on the ass especially.
Imogen is where you can find these skins, and you’ll need L$900 to purchase one skin, or if you are a really good shopper and want more than one, you can buy a fatpack of four skins for L$2500, which is a great deal!
There’s also a lucky chair down at the store, with an unreleased makeup, so if you haven’t gotten that, make sure you head down, and while you’re there, click on the subscribe-o-matic sign above the lucky chair so you can know right away when you need to drop everything and head down to buy whatever newness awaits (right now there are free eyes and eyelashes at the store *cough*)
My Visit With Nyte Caligari
October 7, 2008 at 11:30 pm | Posted in Random | 3 CommentsMost of my friends and my fellow plurkers know about my visit to Calgary a few weeks ago to see my best friend Nyte Caligari, and I had sooooooo much fun! I haven’t been able to write about it until now due to my RL circumstances, but I find myself bored and sitting here, so hey, what better way to allieve the boredom than talk about the super fun trip?!
To start, we were both so nervous about meeting someone from online…it’s something that was brand new to me, and I think was new to her as well. She waited at the gate for me when I got off the plane with one of those limo cards, ya know, and it said “PHOE!” and as soon as I saw it, I kinda relaxed. Maybe because of the exclamation mark, maybe because I was a little worried I’d be stood up or something LOL, I dunno, but I guess she relaxed too when I went straight up to her and said hi and wasn’t too shy.
We had talked previously about our plans for the weekend, and we both thought it would be a pretty good idea to get completely drunk that night, to sort of let go of any residual shyness and just laugh and have as much fun as we do in Second Life, so that’s what we did. A friend of hers was playing at the local….pub, I guess you could call it, but I am using that term completely and totally loosely, because it’s a piss-poor version of one, and we were going to go see him play and hang out with some of her friends. We had so much fun and holy crap, we got completely smashed. She has some sort of cute term for smashed, but at the moment I can’t remember it.
Saturday was a day for rest and relaxation, and we watched some movies and ate junk food, and hung out with her dogs, who are totally cute and really sweet, even the big and scary Rottweiler. She loved me, and attempted to give me kisses which I deftly and swiftly avoided because nothing is grosser to me about dogs than their slobber on my face, ewww!
On Sunday we went to the Calgary Zoo, and other than the utterly disappointing realization that I had forgotten to charge my digital camera’s battery (and of course it’s a special battery that you can’t just replace with two Double A’s), we had a blast. So many amazing animals and a really beautiful zoo. I took some pictures with my camera, of the animals I was most excited about seeing, and then I bought a disposable camera which I have yet to develop, and then I finally resorted to pictures on my camera phone. I so desperately wanted to go back to the zoo the next day with a fully charged camera, but I was talked out of that crazy idea, haha. Next time I go to Calgary, I will definitely be going back to the zoo, it was awesome. And the weather was perfect, sorta overcast, but not raining, so most of the animals were out and about. We even saw the little tiny baby gorilla, awwwww….so cute.
Monday was the day I was going home, but my flight wasn’t until night, so we went and saw a matinee of the worst movie I’ve seen in a while, Burn After Reading. It was something we had both heard was good, and with the cast we expected it would be but umm…no. It was way weird and it didn’t even really end in any satisfying way at all. We were left confused and yeah, it sucked. I wouldn’t even recommend it as a rental. But maybe that is my decidedly low-brow taste in movies, who knows.
In short, if you’ve been wondering if you should ever meet your best friends from SL in Real Life, I highly recommend it. I had so much fun hanging out with mine, and I can’t wait to hang out with her next year in my town 🙂
Persona Isle’s Grand Opening!
September 28, 2008 at 11:35 am | Posted in Persona | Leave a commentFrom a small store last summer to her own island, Persona designer Myllie Writer has come a very long way, and I’m so happy to see her grow and expand in a way she absolutely deserves.
Today, we’re celebrating the opening of Persona Isle, and DJ duckyfresh Watanabe will be spinning the tunes from 12-2 pm PDT (aka in 30 minutes). Come get your party on at Persona Isle!
Celestial Studios
September 28, 2008 at 12:05 am | Posted in Celestial Studios | 3 CommentsI’ve been meaning to post about the newness at Celestial Studios, but with my real life in such a shambles at the moment (moving stress, blargh), I’ve been putting it off. But right now I’m feeling the blogging thing, so I might as well write about some of Starley’s newest releases. Yeah, they are not the new newest, but I took these pics before that mega-release by Starley, Torrid, Menno and Zyrra, so I’m going to post anyhow, because I heart them.
Starley is one of those multi-talented residents who can make anything. You know the type: the ones who make you seriously jealous and you secretly fangirl every time she releases anything. Or is that just me? Anyway…
All of the skin worn in this post is Vogue, in the Amber skin tone. I’ve worn various makeups here since I have pretty much all of them, and since they come in both freckled and non-freckled versions, I’ve mixed it up with that too.
Starley had mused aloud on plurk about hating to come up with names, and I facetiously said something about the name Phoenix being rather unisex and pretty, and lo and behold, the Phoenix dress came about! I absolutely love this dress, and even if it was named after an arch enemy or something, I’d still love it. Lookit how the lacy top frames my boobies and makes me all irresistable and stuff? The belt is my favourite part. I love skinny prim belts, and this one, after moving it up a bit, fits me perfectly. The belt, quite simply, is perfection. Really, I’d be remiss if I didn’t encourage everyone to buy the Phoenix dress fatpack. And I totally don’t get 10% of the profits every time someone buys it. (No, seriously, I don’t. But wouldn’t that be cool? Actually, it’d just be cool if I had as much talent as Miss Starley.)
My hair is Annie III, of course also by Celestial Studios, in my usual shade of Nocturne. I love her hair textures, and this is an ultra-cute ‘do.
The Rainy Day Sweater is a warm pile of sculpty goodness. I think my favourite part of this sweater is the excellent long sleeves, which sort of wrap around your thumb, but the sucky part of that is that they are on the hand attachment points. Of course, it makes sense, but it takes off my ring! I’m just lazy and don’t want to fix my ring attachment point is all, but I suppose I could just not wear the hand attachment part. It does still look good; I know, I tried it.
My pants are the most excellent butt-friendly cords that make your ass look rockin’. I heart these to a serious degree.
My hair is Devyn for the Moderno line…this might be for boys, but I don’t care when the hair is this cute.
Aphrodixia is a very cute and sexy mini-dress, again with the extra-long sleeves, and many colours of glittery shiny bodice tops. The back is soooo sexy, and there’s a shrug for the lil’ bit of modesty in you (okay, in me).
Whoosh POW! Colour was exploding out of her walls a couple of releases ago, and nowhere was this more apparent than in her Overdyed Jeans, which I love. I had to buy all of them even though I don’t normally wear such bright colours. Because you never know I might want to one day, then I’d be sad if I didn’t have these. Besides, you can’t go wrong with a Celestial Studios pair of jeans (I did mention the ass thing, right? ‘Kay, good, just checking). And of course, they come with three different leg options: from the left is Flare, Bootcut and Skinny.
The Mendy tee and scarf were also released at the same time, and the muted colours of the Mendy top (shown in the centre) with the vest, tones down the huge colour of the jeans.
Okay. Enough babbling. Go to Celestial Studios. Buy everything.

Plurkey Lurkey
September 17, 2008 at 4:31 pm | Posted in Random | 1 CommentSo I have a confession to make. I, who never allowed herself to get into twitter in case I liked it too much, have gotten totally into Plurk. It’s like Twitter, but wayyyyyy easier to follow with individual threads per plurk. I’ve met so many people I admired muchly but was too shy to actually talk to (*waves at Willis and ‘Kota). Anyhow, that’s my confession for the day, even though much of you probably know this already. Erm, yeah. Feel free to sign up and find me automatically by clicking this link: Invitation.
Nyte N Day
September 12, 2008 at 4:58 pm | Posted in Nyte N Day | 4 CommentsNyte’N’Day is the first store I loved in SL, and I’d go back every day to look at all the pretty clothes, even if I couldn’t really afford them. I’d slowly but surely build my collection of clothes – preppy, mostly – and just spend hours hang out in my house trying them all on. I had no idea someone could look into my house on the roadside with the windows blacked out, though!
Even though that was nearly two years ago now, Nyte Caligari is still churning out new and beautiful clothes, and her skills have improved too, with sculptified pieces accenting and enhancing her outfits, even though she’s not doing nearly enough of them! *cough*
While Nyte stays true to her large fanbase of exotic dancers and the like, releasing ultra sexy, teasingly short minidresses, she is also releasing a lot of more casual wear, which is more to my personal taste. Just in case you haven’t seen what Nyte’N’Day is releasing these days, I thought I’d show it off!
Phant is a retro-inspired outfit with an amazing belted top, complete with full sculpted sleeves, and white leggings of the variety I used to wear myself back in elementary school. I love this outfit, and even though I am not a big fan of leggings IRL, I love them in SL because I can wear them in so many different ways, with so many different outfits. This is one of the few styles I’ve seen with the old-school lace at the bottom though. Phant is available in several colours, and like all of Nyte’s clothes, they’re reasonably priced per outfit.
More after the cut! Continue Reading Nyte N Day…
George St.
September 6, 2008 at 10:31 pm | Posted in George St. | 1 CommentI recently had the great pleasure to meet a brand new hair designer on the grid, Hannelore George, and get a sneak peek at her new store, George Street, and what she has to offer so far since opening today at noon o’clock.
Her hair is fun and different from what I’ve got already, and I am a picky bitch when it comes to hair, so it’s nice to find a new creator that I like. I love her textures, most especially the very wide variety of black tones.
Her inventory is not large at the moment (just the four styles I’m going to picture), but she says she’ll have more coming for the ladies soon, and she won’t forget the men either (yay!)
She has some great names for her hair, all named after songs. I have to be honest and say I don’t recognize any of them, but it’s a unique way to name your inventory and it’s a lot better than choosing female names that eventually will be the same as everyone else’s.
This is Dance-a-Thon 2005, and it is a cute updo with a braided headband.
July July is a two-piece side ponytail, with the bangs being a separate piece. I actually really like that option, so I can add them to other hairstyles if I want, or just do different things as her inventory grows more. This is my absolute favourite colour, “natural black”.
Lions in the Storm is a very cute french braided style, and it doesn’t come with bangs (so if you are the type that must have them, you could steal the bangs from the July July hair!). A little bit messy, but mostly neat, you could wear it casually or a little dressed up if you want, too!
Obstacle 2 is a bit of a throwback to the 20’s with the headband wrapped around your head, and it features the optional “fascinator” at the top left. If you took off the fascinator though, you could get away with it as an 80’s hairstyle, so it’s totally adaptable!
Go check out the cuteness at George Street!
Armidi
September 4, 2008 at 12:22 am | Posted in Armidi | 8 CommentsIt’s no surprise to me that everyone knows who Armidi is, even though they do not place ginormous classified ads or do anything extraordinary to promote themselves. When an SL company can create that much buzz solely about the really excellent quality of their work, that’s always a good thing.
I am such an Armidi whore. It’s almost embarrassing how much money I’ve spent there, but I just can’t help myself. I love the clothes, the textures, everything. I am not so rich in real life, and I can’t afford designer clothes, but damnit, Phoenix is going to be purty!
It’s impossible to show everything I like, but I’ve done my best to show a fairly broad selection, and I asked the Kitty Cat ❤ to show me a few of his looks too.
So, somehow I managed to buy this Aprodite cocktail dress (shown here in French Tulip) and stick it in my inventory, only to not run across it again until looking for pretty sundresses, which is apparently not often enough. I *love* it! The fresh colour is so perfect for summer, even if summer is winding down in my part of the world.
Designer Betsey Johnson has always been one of my favourites. She is just so fun and bright and cheery, really, the antithesis of me. So when I saw the Duo Cocktail dress from Armidi, I jumped up mid-conversation and raced down there to pick it up, which is inspired/copied from the Spring 2007 collection. This is verde, but there are tons of other colour combinations to check out and choose from if this one doesn’t appeal (though, really, who doesn’t like lime?!)
On the right is the Dotted Bliss Cocktail dress in Yioli, which is fancy-speak for brown. I love this dress and I went back last night to see what other colours I should get, but I started getting dizzy with all the choices and I couldn’t decide! This is a bit on the short side, which means you could probably wear it with pants on the cooler nights and it’d look completely natural.
More after the cut. Continue Reading Armidi…
Zaara Couture
August 30, 2008 at 8:14 pm | Posted in Zaara | 3 CommentsZaara Kohime is the wickedly talented designer behind Zaara Couture, that tiny little shop that started off with only traditional Indian design. After branching out a bit into Western style with Indian flavour, she got the attention she so richly deserves. I’ve been meaning to spotlight her for awhile, and indeed I did in my next Second Style article (not out yet), but on my blog I get to branch out a bit and write as much gushing praise as I like!
The Anjuna outfit is definitely on the casual side, with white pants, an ultra casual white tank that is obviously well-worn, riding up in the side, and a knotted button-down shirt, which is available in three colours. A prim collar, cuffs and knot for the front completes the look, and it’s perfect for vegging out in your skybox, or hanging out with friends being dorky.
In addition to flirty dresses, sumptuous texturing and beautiful traditional Indian garb, there are separates, in particular tops, available to mix and match with other Zaara pieces, or indeed with anything else in your inventory. The beauty of her inventory is that it mixes in well with nearly anything, whether it be handdrawn jeans or satiny tuxedo trousers. On the left is the Mitali turtleneck, which comes on a single layer in multiple layer options in several colours. In the centre is one of my favourite new swimwear outfits of the summer, Xacuti, which comes with either a full-length or halter bikini top option. On the right is the sexy wrap jacket, Nilaya, in brown.
The Freespirit dress in RFL pink (this particular colour was only available during Relay for Life 2008) is one of my favourite dresses in Zaara’s inventory. I love the colours and the sheen of the texture, though neither are exclusive to this dress, but the criss-crossed strappy halter, and the long tie in the back of the dress makes this a must-have, so I definitely recommend picking it up in one of the three main colours available.
Calangute, on the left, is a gorgeous belted dress, but if you wanted to wear the shirt only by itself, it would not look remotely out of place or like there was anything missing. I chose to snag it in lime, which is actually a colour I’m wearing quite often lately.
On the right, Ananya is one of the newest releases, having been released at the same time that the new mainstore on the Tesla Sim was unveiled. It’s a beautiful babydoll-style dress with a matching shrug, and it’s a little on the longer side for the end of summer slightly chilly weather coming my way here.
Kantha is a skirt outfit, with a contrasting top and giant bow. I love this outfit, and most especially the giant bows. I think I could wear only these bows and feel completely accessorized. In fact, I guess I am kinda only relying on these bows to accessorize these outfits here. 😛
The blogging bug bit me a few weeks ago, and I got all motivated and excited about blogging again. But I guess this past week it’s left me again, and I’m hoping this post about Zaara will bring it back because I truly love her outfits and clothes. I highly recommend checking out her store if you haven’t already.

August 21, 2008 at 12:06 am | Posted in Jaywalk | 1 CommentThe uber-talented designer behind Jaywalk, Lyra Muse, is branching out from shoes and teeny tiny prim jewelry to clothes, and let me just say, YAY! I got a bit of a sneak peek before tomorrow’s release, and I just had to share pics of what I’ve seen thus far.
The Starry Boyshorts are really cute and totally sexy, and perfect for turning up the heat this summer. I love starry prints; hearts, take ’em or leave ’em, but stars are forever with me. They are going to be available in eight different colours for only L$50 each.
The Delora Corset Top was named after Delora Starbrook, the amazing and talented designer behind the Shoe Expo this year, who also happens to be a very sweet woman. This top is so cute with the prim cuffs and tie at the neck, and you’ll be able to pick this up for L$150 each, and there’s also eight colours to choose from.
The Canimal stockings are the cutest stockings ever! Immediately I had to put on matching Mary Janes, and look for a flirty flippy skirt for that naughty schoolgirl look. They’ll be available in either black or white, with prim bows to match the ribbon trim, and you’ll get the white and black pair of each colour for only L$75 each. In case you hadn’t sensed the theme yet, there are also eight colours to choose from. 😉
I hear tomorrow is the big day for release, so make sure to go down to Jaywalk tonight and sign up for her Subscribe-o-Matic service. She released the cutest Catpaw slippers tonight in the group too as a gift, so get hooked up, and then stand at the doors waiting for tomorrow!
Quick & Dirty Post 1 – Nora Bodyskins
August 20, 2008 at 6:25 pm | Posted in Nora | 9 CommentsNora Bodyskins is closing, but before they do, there’s a massive sale down there. Cat took me down so we could try on skins, and the Toffee tone in the Samantha series got my attention. I got most of them before I ran outta money, and here is the best of the best:
This is Baby Blue on the left, and the Toffee base on the right.
On the left is Bouquet, and on the right is my favourite of the bunch, Raisin. If you’ve been looking for a beautiful darker skin, this is definitely one to go grab!
I’ve been loving these so much, I’ve been wearing them for days!
There are no secrets in SL®
August 17, 2008 at 3:27 am | Posted in Random | 8 CommentsSo by now, everyone who will read this blog post has surely read the first installment of SL®secret on SCD, right?
I thought I’d post my thoughts on it, since, well, I can, and I actually have something to say.
First, I am an avid reader of PostSecret, the blog on which SLsecret is based. And I think it’s a really powerful site, one that often makes me cry and laugh, commiserate and concur. But SLcecret is a horse of a different colour so far.
First, the SL world is vastly different, and smaller, than that of PostSecret. Secrets pour in from all over the world to go on Postsecret, and they identify neither secret-keeper nor any person the secret is about.
Secondly, the secrets on PostSecret are almost overwhelmingly something personal to the person sending the postcard, and expose something about THEM. Some of the secrets posted on SLsecret, in particular one which is a thinly-veiled barb on someone’s creative endeavors, are not that at all. They’re just another way to anonymously poke fun at someone else’s expense. And why does there need to be yet another forum for that? I’m hoping that as time marches on, the secrets will become more personal, less hateful and thus more interesting. First weeks of anything tend to be a trial, right?
Third, I do not believe that comments should be allowed after the secrets have been revealed for the week. I don’t think anything good can come from allowing comments, and there is a reason Frank over at Postsecret doesn’t allow them.
It’s not that I am against the idea; I do think it could be a really good forum to express oneself and get something off your chest. But there should be a little more judicious pruning so that it becomes something it ought to be, rather than yet another way to attack people you don’t like.
My humble two pennies, of course. Your mileage may vary.
Insolence
August 13, 2008 at 11:52 pm | Posted in Insolence | 1 CommentInsolence has always been my first stop when I am looking for sexy lingerie. How could it not be? Designer Camilla Yosuke has everything from sweet & virginal bride to Dominatrix Phoe, and everything in between. And everything is hand-drawn, which is just amazing considering the detail and the perfection in every piece.
I’ve long been a fan, but I haven’t always had a reason to wear it *cough*. Literally everything you buy here is beautifully made and gorgeous to wear, so I may have taken too many pictures. But, it’s better than pictures of fugly, skanky swimwear/undies that’s been all over the feed today, right?
All of her ensembles come transferable (except all of the latex outfits), so all you men out there can buy your lady something special to model for you (oh come on, you know you want to). And one of the pitfalls of having transferable items is that you tend to only get one layer, so you can’t give away a layer and cost the designer money. However, Camilla has a workaround for this, and offers a separate copy on the pants and shirt layers, for those who have tattoos.
The newest release is Flore, a lovely and sweet floral ensemble that has several different ways to wear it. Two styles of panties and two different bras, along with the detachable ruffle, makes this pretty summery set a must-have. It comes in six colours, and you can pick these up for L$290 each.
My one concern with this is that the tiny little ribbon bow at the front of the panties is for avatars who are a hell of a lot skinnier than I am. I had to make my body thickness at 0 before I could see it, and then I could adjust it properly to fit myself.
I don’t think I can say enough good things about Insolence, and the obvious loving care and detailed perfectionism shown in each and every item. On the left is Louise in Purple, and you can get it in five other colours, each costing L$290 each. As well, the open camisole is optional, so you could just wear it as a sexy bra & panty set.
In the centre is Melanie, which is available in six different colours for L$290 each, and it comes with both a bra and a corset, so you can choose which you’re in the mood for. It also has matching stockings, which I love wearing, even though I hardly ever wear lingerie.
Leslie is a gorgeous lace bra & panty set, which I have been drooling over ever since I got it. I love the cut of the bra, and the panties are very sexy. It’s available in six colours for L$200 each.
The Alice outfit is one of my very favourites in the entire store, which is why I chose to show three colours of it. It’s also available in six colours, at L$200 each. Whether you’re wearing the garter belt or not, it oozes sex appeal and is sure to gain you at least one stalker.
/me cracks the whip!
The Misty line of latex fetish wear is hot, hot hot! Half of the available outfits have exposed nipples, which is why I am showing the other half 😉 No matter which of these outfits you choose to wear, you’ll have your partner begging for more mercy.
Most of the outfits have two options for underwear – open front or closed – which should be fairly obvious as to what those are. I of course wore the closed versions. I love the fact that all of these use the same textures, so I can mix and match from different outfits to create the perfect Domme Phoenix look to terrorize my love with. However, in these pictures, I chose to keep all outfits as they come so as not to confuse anyone. The Dionne is one of the fullest outfits, and thus costs the most at L$490. In the centre is Dawn, which will run you L$390, and on the right is Tracey with the most amazing criss-cross halter top, costing only L$290.
I am a big fan of white lingerie. There’s something so pure and…virginal about it. It makes being naughty and kinky a whole lot easier to hide 😉
The Cerise Spring outfit, on the left, is L$250 each and only comes in one color. I personally like it best as only the bra and panties, but the chemise is quite lovely too.
In the centre, Aradia is L$290 if you’d like to see this in your inventory. Each colour is based on white, with four different accent colours. The difference is small, so you have to look closely if you want to really be able to see it.
On the right is special outfit, Jade by Insolence & Callie Cline, which you can call your own for only L$290 each in six colours. There are tons of options with this outfit, including strapless and strappy bras, corsets and two boas which you can wear in different ways.
The Laure corset set is absolutely breathtaking. I actually got this particular outfit in a Christmas hunt, I think, last year. This is the Emerald colour, but there are four other colours, each selling for L$290 each. It’s a bit naughty with the sheer panels, and they show off my nippular area! I never do that, so you know this must be a special day to go along with a special outfit.
The Leia corset outfit, in the centre, is a bit different, in that you can buy either a bra or a corset version, for L$200 each, and there are four colours available. I think I’d much prefer to pay a little extra and get both the bra and the corset, but I usually tend to go for corsets when available, so that’s what I have.
The Scarlett outfit is named after Scarlett Niven, and was made for Scarlett after she won the Budweiser Select Lingerie Legends contest (in which I was also a contestant, way back in the day). This particular colour was a special gift and is not available for purchase, but it is available in four other colours, for L$290 each.
Insolence is the premier lingerie store in all of SL, in my humble opinion, and one cannot go wrong choosing anything there to wear, whether you’re wearing it just for yourself or for someone special. Visit Insolence at Venom, and make sure to sign up for the Subscribe-o-Matic update group as well, because you won’t want to miss even a single new release!
