In 1179 many Eastern, Christian, Jewish, and Arab astrologers predicted for the month of September 1186 a great planetary conjunction that was supposed to cause the destruction of the earth due to the violence of winds, waters, and storms. It was said to be seven years of profound suffering; no one doubted the end of the world, but nothing happened!
A similar planetary conjunction occurred over 300 years later…
Da sempre sono affascinato dall’etologia; ma soprattutto sono attratto dai comportamenti estremi che gli esseri viventi sviluppano per sopravvivere. Stando agli studi effettuati dai ricercatori, i comportamenti strani degli animali possono essere determinati sia dalla loro genetica; che acquisiti in base all’habitat in cui vivono. Ad ogni modo, che siano comportamenti istintivi o acquisiti, è ben risaputo che alcuni animali hanno dei comportamenti davvero strani e insoliti. About a year ago I went to Malaysian Borneo, a unique place of its kind in the natural environment where the natural environment is presented under various and indefinite aspects, its beauty seems inexhaustible as its natural resources. Entering the jungle is a unique and unparalleled experience as it is a territory where man is still in complete harmony with the multiformity of nature, with the succession of seasons and years.
Because of its geographical position, far from everything and everyone, it is called the “Lost World”.
Con i suoi undici milioni di chilometri quadrati la Siberia è uno dei territori più vasti e remoti del pianeta. Per generazioni i russi lo hanno utilizzato come luogo di raccolta per tutti i generi di esuli religiosi e prigionieri. La prima cosa che bisogna pensare a proposito della Siberia, è l’idea di uno spazio vasto e desolato in cui vive pochissima gente. I russi lo hanno sempre visto come uno spazio vuoto che si trovava lì per essere colmato, ma purtroppo non ci riuscirono mai in quanto era troppo vasto! Non c’erano strade adatte per viaggiare per il paese; e questo ha contribuito al senso di isolamento che la comunità russa provava in questo ambiente freddo e ostile.

On the 7th of August in the year 1947, tossed by the waves crashing on the rocks, a raft of balsa wood and bamboo hit the reef that protected the quiet lagoon Raroria, a remote island in the Marquesas archipelago, in the middle of ‘Pacific Ocean.

Questo territorio è tra i più impenetrabili del pianeta ed estremamente pericoloso. Si tratta di una densa giungla priva di strade percorribili, infestata da insetti e animali pericolosi; per questi motivi, la maggior parte delle persone dovrebbe mantenerne le distanze. Se cercate avventura, è meglio guardare altrove! Inoltre, è frequentato da eserciti paramilitari, trafficanti di droga, migranti illegali, tribù indigene e chiunque altro potrebbe essere ostile!
Papua New Guinea, is the second largest island in the world after Greenland, is the realm of complexity, whose extreme environmental variety is reflected in the fragmentation of peoples, languages, mores and customs as in no other country in the world. It is an ethnic kaleidoscope, a linguistic and cultural mosaic: just over seven million inhabitants between Papua New Guinea and Irian Jaya speak almost a thousand different languages, about a fifth of all those spoken on the planet. Here among prehistoric corners hidden by time and nature, something still survives from the original human being, the one who has to work daily to solve problems related to food and survival. Il culto delle navi da carico, più comunemente conosciuto come “il cargo cult“; fa parte di un movimento sociale e religioso degli abitanti della Malanesia, un gruppo di isole del Pacifico meridionale a nord-ovest dell’Australia, di cui fanno parte la Papua Nuova Guinea, Nuova Caledonia, Isole Figi e Vanuatu. I culti delle navi e degli aerei da carico ebbero inizio dalla crescente tensione fra le popolazioni tribali remote, e gli eserciti impegnati nella guerra nel Pacifico.
I’ve always been fascinated by ethology; but are especially attracted by the extreme behavior that living things develop in order to survive. According to studies by the researchers, the strange behavior of animals can be determined both by their genetic acquired on the basis that the habitat in which they live. However, behaviors that are instinctive or acquired, it is well known that some animals have very strange and unusual behavior. With its eleven million square kilometers Siberia it is one of the largest territories and remote in the world. For generations, the Russians have used it as a gathering place for all kinds of religious exiles and prisoners. The first thing you have to think about the idea of Siberia is a vast and desolate place where there were very few people. The Russians have always seen it as an empty space that you found them to be filled, but unfortunately we never succeeded because it was too big! There were no roads suitable for traveling to the country; and this has contributed to the sense of isolation that the Russian community in this environment felt very cold and hostile. Siberian religious scene is particularly rooted, as there was minimal overlap of other cultures. Siberian shamanism is therefore considered by the classical scholars, the less contaminated by other cultures.
Agli inizi del primo secolo dell’età contemporanea (1800-1816), la terra era caratterizzata da una grande instabilità politica. Mentre l’Europa si stava riprendendo lentamente dalle guerre napoleoniche, che si erano concluse solo un anno prima, in America Latina la guerra d’indipendenza spagnola rese la maggior parte delle colonie indipendenti dalla Spagna. In Europa dopo anni di disperazione e distruzione la gente si aspettava tempi migliori, ma l’estate che arrivò fu piovosa e fredda, i raccolti non diedero frutti, la fame e le malattie furono le conseguenze.
