ALTSmall side project. I attached a fur detachable collar to Sango biker jacket. This collar design is actually not suitable for a detachable collar, because the inside seam is visible. But the long fur covering that, so it is actually not visible. No new pattern pieces are required, just 1~2cm off-set the outer edge of the collar(outside). The wrong side of the collar is a lining fabric. I just hand stitched to the inner edge. Depending on the design, button+loop or snap fasteners may be better options.

ALTMini side project. Tried to attach a shoulder sling to my Mitsuba puffer jacket. Some ski wears or outdoor jackets have this kind of straps for hands free jacket carrier like a backpack. I opened lining stitches to attach the loop for the sling. The sling is still not fully stable, so I need to test more. Maybe an idea for the next pattern. Btw, what the official name of this strap??

ALTI made one more Pinguïn 🐧 bag with black faux leather x silver metal accents. This time tried with a paracord strap. Using paracord was unexpectedly fun! I thought this is a kind of tough guy thing, but so much more, and so many sizes, materials, colours and patterns are available. Since this is originally very functional cord, I want to try with outdoor style items in the future. I got the cords from a local shop paracord.eu (no ad)

ALTA new item is just released from Waffle Patterns. Meet the Biker Jacket <Sango> sewing pattern. The design is inspired by authentic moto jackets. But it has many options for collar, pockets, length, etc.
Making this with faux leather is a solid choice for your staple, but there are so many possibilities. Please play with the design and materials and create your original one!
ALTThe jacket is regular to slim fit. It has many details inspired by moto jackets, like an asymmetric front zipper opening, multiple zipper pockets, or zipper cuff openings. It has an inside pocket, too. Fully lined, and the lining patterns are included.
-view A
View A features an open collar and a short length covering the waist. You can choose with or without a hem belt design.
Side zipper pocket placements have 2 options; slanted or horizontal type. You can add a chest pocket and a patch pocket, too.
-view B
View B has a stand collar and a long length with a hem belt.
There are 2 options for the side pocket placement the same as view A. The sample in the photos (brick red one) is featuring horizontal type.
A chest pocket can be added, too.
You can skip details like zipper cuff openings, sleeve patches, or an inside pocket, but they are very functional and make an authentic biker jacket look!
My personal fav detail is the zipper cuff opening. It took time to finish, but was totally worth it. I think they are very suitable for a leather jacket.

ALT<Shell>
The pattern is drafted for woven fabrics. Mid weight woven jacket fabrics with some body are recommended. like gabardine, wool, denim, twill or faux leather etc.
If your fabric is very thick/stiff, please consider using other lighter fabrics partly to avoid the thick layers, like zipper cuff facings or hem belt facing parts.
If you have to use stretchy fabric, choose a low tension one and adjust the fitting by making muslin.
I wanted to make one more with tweed or plaid wool. Just could not find the perfect one.
<Lining>
Normal lining fabrics, like plain acetate, cupra etc. will work.
My store-bought leather jackets have cotton linings on the bodice parts. I think it works well, too, and is easier to handle. But I recommend using slippery fabrics on the sleeve parts for comfort.

Here is a fabric list I used for the samples. I could not get all the shops from which I bought because some are too old or from wholesalers.
- chocola brown faux leather sample <view A>
Shell ; faux leather (from a local stoffenmarkt)
Lining ; poly satijn
Luckily this faux leather can be ironed (with very low heat) and interfaced. But using pins or a ripper was a bit difficult. I used clip or scotch tape occasionally. If you use faux leather, I strongly recommend taking enough time to examine how to handle it before starting your project.
- brick red sample <view B>
Shell ; stretch softshell. (from discoveryfabrics.com years ago so I don’t think they still have the same.)
Lining ; plain acetate
This soft shell is quite stretchy, maybe the lining should be stretch type, too. Overall it was very easy to handle, a bit tricky to iron on some parts though.
- fluffy light gray sample <view A>
Shell ; faux fur (short nap type called borg in NL. from a local stoffenmarkt)
Lining ; plain acetate
I really love how it looks and it was easier to handle than I expected. Nap fabrics have a direction. If you want to use fabrics with nap one, make sure you have extra meters.
No photos here, but I made one more with coloured denim and it worked fine.
The fabric choice all depends on your design intention and how you want to wear it. I strongly recommend checking with actual samples as much as possible.
ALTThe fitting is regular-slim. I used just size for the brown and brick red samples, and one size larger for the light gray one. Because the fur fabric is quite bulky. But maybe no need to size up.
If you want to wear a thick sweater underneath or want to use volumy lining, maybe considering 1-2 size up is a good idea.
I strongly recommend making a muslin for a perfect fit.
The pattern is not intended for real leather. Although I think it may not be impossible with some modifications. I don’t have experience in working with real leather, but think that the pattern pieces may be too large for the material.

ALTNew 2 patterns are just released from Waffle Patterns. Meet the Accessory bags <Pinguïn> and <Walvis> sewing patterns.
Fun and playful penguin and whale-shaped novelty bags. And they have pockets!
My shop mainly designs functional garments, but why not just have fun? I always wanted to design vibrant and whimsical items, too.
I hope you enjoy and have fun by making those as well. They will be your special pieces for your special occasions or fun unexpected presents.
They can be made with relatively small amount of fabrics. It is nice to use up your leftover fabrics from your stash, too.
ALT-Pinguïn
Lovely penguin-shaped novelty bag. You can store small things like candies or coin purse from the center back zipper opening. The opening width is about 15cm, the height is about 27cm. It has a small patch pocket on the front bodice, too. Use a hand strap as a pouch or clutch, or a long strap for a shoulder/crossbody bag.
ALT-Walvis
Whale shaped accessory bag. The bag opening is on the center top and you can store small things like a mobile phone. The opening width is 18cm and the body length is about 55cm. It has a zipper pocket on the side and a front patch pocket on the mouth part. The zipper pocket is about id-card size.
It has handles, but can be skipped. The yellow sample in the photos is without handles design.
The strap can be attached as a side type (on the center top) or a shoulder type (both sides on the body) .
Both Pinguïn and Walvis are shaped with fiber fill stuffing.
The inside bags are small, so not suitable for serious luggage. Also, they are not designed for children’s toys.
ALT<Shell>
The patterns are drafted for woven fabrics. Mid-heavy weight woven fabrics are suitable, like duck, twill, denim, canvas, or décor weight fabric, etc.
I normally like to recommend functional fabrics, but they are fun accessory items, so please use your imagination and play with the design. Choosing lovely looking fabric as your design intention will be the best.
Depending on your fabric, please consider using additional interfacing on the whole bag panels for adding extra strength or body.
<Lining>
Lining fabrics are used for the inside of the bags and the pockets. Plain cotton or linen will be suitable and reasonable.
ALT<Sample fabrics in the photos> Here is a fabric list I used for the samples. I used only my old leftovers from my past projects. So I could not list the shops which I bought from.
- Yellow and White samples
Shell ; Both faux leather. The white one is the leftover of Kaneel rider’s jacket. I think both fabrics were originally intended for decor/interior purposes.
Both cannot be interfaced nor ironed, so I skipped interfacing, but used thin ribbon on the zipper places for adding some extra support.
I really love the looks/textures of the faux leathers, but those are a bit difficult to handle. Pins or rippers cannot be used for these materials, so I used clips or scotch tape instead.
Lining ; plain cotton. The colours are matched with the zipper tape colours.
- Smoky pink samples
Shell ; mixed twill. Leftover of Kanoko bags.
Like Kanoko bags, I used woven mid weight interfacing on the whole body to add strength and body.
Lining ; plain cotton. The colours are matched with the zipper colours.
- Red plaid samples
Wool coating fully interfaced with mid weight woven type. The lining is plain cotton. This one is also the leftover of the Kanoko bag.
ALTThe bags use various webbings or tapes for the handles and straps or other details. If you cannot find the perfect colour or width, making those with the same or contrast fabrics are an option.
The small parts like the flippers or fin are supported with a light stabilizer. Fusible fleece or thin quilt batting will be suitable. I used fusible fleece for all the samples.
Please choose suitable interfacing/parts for your design and shell fabrics. I strongly recommend checking actual material samples as much as possible and experimenting with your fabrics before starting the project.
If you cannot choose some details, please remember making actual samples with actual fabrics is the best way to confirm.
Although the bags can store only small things, the bags themself are about shoulder bag size.
If you want to make it bigger or smaller, I think printing the pattern pieces with scale will work. But you need to adjust the seam allowances or other details.
I used the shoulder strap from readymade bags, but you can make them by yourself, too.
