Do I Know You?

Meeting someone for the first time-

Shake their hand, they look in my eyes.

Eyebrows wrinkle and their nose crinkles-

Have we met before?

Well…

Maybe not specifically me,

But you have met Jesus,

And I am his homie.

Sometimes I look like him,

Sometimes maybe not so much.

But he sent me.

I am sure of this.

Everything

Happens

For a

Purpose.

Closed Door

Unknown situation

 Increases anxiety.

What is inside?

Who is inside?

Mumbles,

Shouts,

Unknown sounds,

And silence from within

Add to the mystery.

Deep breath.

Knock softly.

Open the way

To the uncertain-

Step into the moment.

Thread Memories

A patchwork quilt laid across a bed.

Crocheted doilies and tablecloths folded in a cedar chest.

Handmade garland draped on a Christmas tree.

Reminders of soft wrinkled hands

That will be absent this year.

Memories left for present and future

Generations to see,

Hold,

Feel,

Know

The love

The thread preserves.

You, Horton, and Me

I remember that moment that

Meant the beginning of

What adventures were in store for us.

I look back at those two naive souls that

Said ‘I do’ and ‘I will’ until life ends,

And I barely recognize those kids.

I Know there were people who

Said we were young, foolish, didn’t know

What we were getting into, but

I ignored the noise and jumped in with you.

Meant to be? Intentionally striving to be

An example of grace and love- with an

Elephant’s memory for forgiveness.

Faithful, together-

One-hundred percent.
