So, way back in 2012 my buddy told me about Kickstarter. He’d helped fund Zombicide and showed me Relic Knights which was being kickstarted by Sod Pop Minis. I’d previously bought Super Dungeon Explore, also made by them and really liked their anime style miniatures. So, long story short, my mate and I pledged into Relic Knights with enough funds to take 2 factions (including limited edition figures for each).

Almost 2 years later… my miniatures arrived! I’ve since pledged on a few other projects but this is the first one that has arrived in its entirety (the physical components of Warmachine Tactics have arrived…). I just thought I’d drop a few (read: lots) photos of what was in the box.

A hefty hardcover book with all the rules, all the faction stats, and a painting guide.

The first faction that caught my eye was the Cerci Speed Circuit because high speed mechs! I’m still waiting to hear from their support team on whether I’m missing a figure as everything that seems to come in the retail Cerci starter box came to me in separate retail packages but the Questing Knight that is pictured on the starter packaging is not here. Time has dulled my memory of whether she’s supposed to be included…

Candy is the company mascot and was made into one of the limited edition “cosplay” figures. Here she appears as Chun-Li from Street Fighter. Her attacks even mimic Chun-Li’s special moves.

2 of these 3 figure boxes. Anime girls on hoverbikes… Unfortunately, one of the figures in this set was packaged without a rider’s torso. They were aware of it too late to fix before shipping so I hope they’re support network comes through as they promised with getting replacement parts out…

Suicide Queen is a Questing Knight and the leader of the racing gang, Hell’s Belles. Rin Farrah is a sniper.

The second faction was kind of sold for me on the concept art of one of the limited edition figures; Tycho from Penny Arcade… But also, wizards; The Doctrine.

A beefy guardian construct. Between the starter box and pledge rewards, I’ve got 2 of these.

A squad of 3 junior wizards and a rebel witch wielding a pair of giant scissors. The only other known production error was in this box…

This includes a Questing Knight, Delphine, her Cypher, Ekhis, a Librarian and a squad of Novitiates. Also includes the playmat/dashboard, tokens, battle deck and mini rulebook.

Zineda is a Questing Knight for another faction, the Noh Empire, but appears here as a Doctrine sorceress, cosplaying as Morrigan from Darkstalkers.

Squad of 3 mindless automata. Given their abilities, I can see these being quite useful.

Kisa is the Relic Knight for The Doctrine. She’s a powerful sorcerer that rides a giant mecha-cat.

Relic Knights use Warmachine-style bases but the kickstarter includes molded plastic base inserts.

This blister pack with a metal female figure… Can’t work out what it’s for but she appears to be posed as though riding a vehicle…

Pack of 8 plastic upgrade tokens that can be used by your cadre during battle.

The 3rd Questing Knight, a Radiant version of Candy on a big-arse mech. Radiant Knights don’t belong to any one faction but are instead aligned to 3 of the essences and can be included in any cadre that shares one of those 3 essences.

I have one more figure to come, which was packaged in with my mate’s pledge. Please don’t go missing, please don’t go missing… Until then, this lot just got added to my extensive painting backlog.

Overall, I’m really impressed with the figures, the quality of presentation and Soda Pop’s constant communication of issues and delays.
