Early Methodist Presence: The site hosted early Methodist churches, with one built in 1867 and another in 1877 before the iconic 1930 building, featuring a Gothic design.

After a lightning strike destroyed the previous church, the present building, a solid brick structure with a tower, was opened in 1930, featuring traditional Methodist design, stained glass, and an organ.

The Tenterfield Methodist Church became the Tenterfield Uniting Church in June 1977, when the Uniting Church in Australia was formed by the union of Methodist, Congregational, and some Presbyterian churches, with the local Methodist congregation transitioning to the new denomination

Community Hub: Due to declining numbers, regular services ended, concluded its ministry, with a thanksgiving service in 2012, but the church remained a community facility for events, with its hall used for functions like flower shows.
Leannes Monochrome Madness #51: Markets
Guest host Sarah’s Monochrome Madness #51: to market, to market
I found a variety of Australian markets plus a couple of photos from a market in Paris.
Most markets have food stalls which seems a good place to start.
One of my favourites that has changed and I don’t go up that way any more, the Lismore Farmers Market

The food stall area at The Channon market is always crowded

Maybe this is why 😂

Onto the general market stalls. The Feather Lady has so many things made from feathers

There is always lots to choose from on both sides of the path. The trees make a summers day market pleasant

There is always people meandering between the stalls

I like this tree. Can you see that I took this photo not long after the previous one?

Some stalls are more than good for sale. There are ones that have all sorts of information

Tie-dye is still a fashion around here. This stall also gave classes.

Now we are in Paris on a rather chilly October day. It was quite frustrating as I kept finding things I wanted to buy. Being the last day in Paris, there was no way to organise shipping back home plus the cost may have been a bit expensive.

Some of the good were displayed very differently. Metal filing cabinets are not used in Australia. They also had so many Anglepoise lamps, one of my favourite lamps but too expensive.

When the market is over, there’s nothing left to do but pack and tidy up

Bird of the Week: CLI
this weeks bird is the Brown Quail Synoicus ypsilophorus
I have only had my camera either with me but not ready or no camera when I have encountered Brown Quail. Once was a lucky find late one afternoon coming home from a random drive around the many back roads here. These were taken through the windscreen.
I always see them on my place, well see them scurry away, when I am doing stuff around the place. The never ending mowing and weeding, mainly lantana and never have a camera while I am out working.

They are found across northern and eastern Australia, from the Kimberley region in Western Australia to Victoria and Tasmania, as well as in south-western Australia. It is also found in Papua New Guinea and Indonesia, and has been introduced to New Zealand.
The Brown Quail prefers dense grasslands, often on the edges of open forests, and bracken. May sometimes be seen alongside roads.

This is what they sound like. I listened to a 58second audio clip. I didn’t do that to you. You’ll see once you play the audio. It’s only 18 seconds

The Brown Quail feeds in the early morning or evening, on the ground, mainly on seeds and green shoots, but also on insects. In some area, quails will readily cross roads and may be seen feeding along roadsides.
Well these aren’t actually feeding. It’s bunch of chicks having a bit of a feather tidying and cleaning

The Brown Quail’s well-hidden nest is a scrape in the ground, lined with grass, hidden in thick grasses under overhanging vegetation not far from water. Both sexes incubate the eggs. Young Brown Quails leave the nest straight after they hatch.

I found this cute little art shop stained glass window near where we had lunch.
