What happens at night on Lake Oeschinensee?
Only in October did I see something strange in this enchanting place. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take photos or videos due to poor visibility (it was dark).
On two separate occasions, I saw lights above the lake, probably drones, although I didn’t notice any people or other light sources: I don’t think a drone can be flown in complete darkness.
The third event occurred on October 24th, around 8:30 PM. It was dark and snowing lightly. The sound of waves, similar to the surf, piqued my curiosity. There was no wind, not even a light breeze, just the constant lapping of the waves.
I decided to approach the shore, then continued toward some boats moored on three piers. The rowboats were banging against each other, making creaking noises. I turn to the left with the flashlight in my hand and glimpse a human figure: a black wool hat, a brown jacket, and dark pants. His back was turned.
I direct the light back onto the docks and boats, which continued to bang into each other.
I turn back to that guy, still as a tree trunk. I even thought he was doing something, but how the hell can you stand in the woods without a single light? Anyway, if someone shone a flashlight at me, I’d turn around. And I did this three times: no movement. My blood ran cold, while the sound of the waves and boats continued incessantly. There was no wind, and this person was standing still in the darkness of the woods, about twenty meters away from me.
But the story doesn’t end there: around 10 pm, two French boys came down from the mountain. I met them, and they were quite scared. Something in the woods forced them to flee, to run beyond this beautiful lake.
I usually post imagined, constructed stories on my blog. This time, I find myself writing an adventure route about the lake and the woods surrounding it.
I called the man standing still in the darkness The Wave Man, because he seemed connected to what was happening on the lake.
I’ll never forget that evening; I still get chills from that encounter every time I think about it.
