Postcardswap

Hello there! It´s a long time since I wrote anything in this blog.

But now I decided, that I am finally going to share something I have been creating just recently.
I have read about blogger iHannas #diypostcardswap many times, and have wanted to participate. But now I decided to finally go ahead and do it! I joined the swap, I have made 10 different postcards, and sent them out in the world, I sent 8 to USA, 1 to Australia and 1 to Sweden. And I have started receiving postcards too, I have gotten 4 so far, it´s so much fun to see the beauty others have created, and also share what I have created and sent out to different people.
If you want to read about iHanna and her postcardswap (she hosts it twice a year), you can click on this link http://www.ihanna.nu/postcard-swap/

But now, to share the 10 postcards I created for this swap!

170422postcardswap-001170422postcardswap-002170422postcardswap-003170422postcardswap-004170422postcardswap-005170422postcardswap-006170422postcardswap-007170422postcardswap-008170422postcardswap-009170422postcardswap-010

I have used many techniques, these are painted, collaged, doodled, stitched. I wanted to incorporate positive words/sayings/quotes in them, and I managed to do that in everyone, in different ways. Most of the words I created and printed with my “Dymo labelwriter”, the good thing with that is, it´s printed waterproof on “sticky labels”, it is so useful in many ways 🙂

The pictures don´t do them justice, and especially the ones with some glitter or shiny things, don´t show up very well on photos/scans. But this are the best I could do to show them to you.

They are all about 10 x 15 cm in size, I used a base I cut from recycled cardboard boxes (food packaging), I really tried to use recycled stuff as much as possible, like pics and papers from ads, bookpages, bits and pieces that might have been thrown away, and some hand painted papers. A mix of “this and that”.

I hope you like what I have showed here and maybe get inspired 🙂

It was so much fun to create these, and I will surely continue to make “scrap postcards” because it is so fun, and it´s great to have something to send out to friends, family, people around the world, to just send something nice in the mail to someone “just because”.

So that is it for this time. Take care everyone, and try to spread love and positive things in the world, it is so very much needed.

Honouring a beautiful soul – Mandalas for Marinke

Hello everyone.
This is hard, but I want to try, sharing the mandalas I have crocheted as a contribution to #MandalasForMarinke.

I am lost of words what to write about this project, so I am writing a link here, so you can go check it out yourself, to read about what it is all about.

http://www.crochetconcupiscence.com/mandalasformarinke/
http://www.crochetconcupiscence.com/2015/06/mandalasformarinke-crochet-project-in-memory-of-wink-from-a-creative-being/

When I first read about this project, to help raise awarness of depression among other things, I immediately felt I wanted to try to crochet some mandalas to send to this project.
And, small moments at a time, I managed to crochet several different mandalas in various sizes, to send to Kathryn. Because of my own current depression and fysical problems, I got late, but asked Kathryn for a private extension of the deadline, and got it! I am so thankful about that, it was so important for me to be able to do this.

Now my mandalas are on the way to Kathryn in USA and I wanted to share them here on my craftyblog.
I have not written much here for a very long time, for many different reasons, including lack of energy because of illness.

So this is my first post in a long time.
But an important one.

Well, here are pics of the mandalas I made.

1510-mandalasformarinke4

1510-mandalasformarinke2

1510-mandalasformarinke5

They vary in size, the biggest is 30 cm and the smallest 3 cm.

Something about why I chose to contribute to this project:

I wanted to contribute to this project because I love to crochet and it is one of the things that helps me get through tough days. And I felt that I can finally do something that feels meaningful, that what I make will help someone (other than myself).

I am also living with depression and other mental health problems since more than 20 years now. I am still alive and that feels like ”just luck” sometimes, because I could have been dead as well, after several suicide attempts.

It is so important spreading the word and information about depression/suicide, that people and society finally starts to talk about it and recognize it for what it truly is and not keep on ”hiding it” like ”hush hush we don´t talk about that stuff”.

I realized so many times that depression has no limits to who is affected. You can be poor or rich, ”successful” or homeless, have work or not, be alone or not, anywhere in the world. It can ”hit” anyone.

And why is it ”ok” to talk about someone that died from, say a heart attack or cancer, and not someone that died from depression? Depression is no more of a ”choice” than any other illness.

And the ”stigma” of it makes it even harder.

But we can help change that. We, together, are powerful, we can help raise awarness of depression, and many other mental health problems/illness. Knowledge and talking about it is power. If we keep on ”hiding” it, everybody looses.

Kindness, compassion, talking about it, knowledge, it can help so many people in the long run.

I have been so inspired by Marinke and her work for a long time. I love her use of colors, her patterns are so well written and high quality and such an inspiration.

I love that she was so open with her struggles and story that she didn´t ”hide”, this also inspired me so much when living with a tough story/life myself.

I so wish this would never happen to anyone again, in the perfect world. There are so many people lost. I sometimes wonder why it happens that I am still here.

But I am here still, and hope that my contribution will help someone somewhere somehow. It has already helped me, to focus on something I like to do, and to help me get through tough times.

And a big thank you from me to Kathryn for doing all this for so many, with this fantastic project #MandalasForMarinke

This have to be all from me for this time.
I hope I soon can be back with some updates and photos of what I have been doing/making.

/Annelie

Oh my, more than a year….

…since my last post here… I´m so sorry.

I have many pics on things I have made, but most of them are not finished (the photos that is) so I can show them here… It is a “process” to do with the photos before I can show them here.
Maybe I should just start and show the photos I am finished with, and then show more later. Well that is something I should do, otherwise it may take another year…. Well I will try to do that soon, show what I have to show you now….

I´ll be back, hopefully soon!

this and that

Hello there, it is time to show some new stuff 🙂

First, I have a friend (Mikaela) who has had her 40th birthday last month.
I made this card for her: (the colors are not showing correctly, difficult to get a good scan when there is many “glittery” details)

130315-grattismikaela

This heart-shaped box, I bought the basic box (pink heart-shape) and then I crocheted the flower and leaves and glued them ontop, and added the  white “lace” around the edge.

130317-hjärtasktillmikaela

Below is a pillow I have crocheted for her. The size is approx 35 x 35 cm. It´s a bit funny/long story, I could only find the pattern in dutch language, and used “google translate” to translate it to swedish. But it didn´t translate really correct with all the “crochet stitch terms”, but I managed to make my own translation/correct the wrong things so I could understand it and crochet this pillow 🙂
But I just had to make it, I fell in love with this pattern (if you look closely there are hearts and I love hearts) and I knew my friend would love it too so I had to try. And I feel really pleased with the result (and my friend likes it too).

Christmas-related!

Well finally a new blog post from me… This time it will all be about christmas-related crafts 🙂

These are christmas cards that I finally got finished… Not as many as I wanted, but…

julkort2012-1 julkort2012-2 julkort2012-3 julkort2012-4 julkort2012-5 julkort2012-6 julkort2012-7 julkort2012-8 julkort2012-9 julkort2012-10 julkort2012-11 julkort2012-12

These are ATC with a christmas theme that I made for a swap. I have embroidered them in cross-stitch. I made three, almost identical so I am only showing one of them here.

For my niece Ella and nephew Aron I made these:

2013-01-ellafilt 2013-01-aronfilt

I bought fleece-blankets, that I appliqued their names/letters in fabric on. I also had some fabric flowers that I stitched onto Ellas blanket, and for Aron I crocheted cars and stitched on his blanket.

This is an angel I have sewn with felt, the wings and halo are made from metal wire. I found a pattern in a swedish craft magazine.

angel-annelie-dec12

I am actually going to make one for myself also 🙂 I love angels 🙂

Another angel, a necklace pendant:

1212-ängelhalsband-maria

And finally, another necklace pendant I have crocheted, I have made more from this pattern earlier:

1212-virkathänge-miasmamma

I made this for a friend who was giving it as a christmas gift.

And this will be all for this time!

Take care! /Annelie

New stuff

Well finally something new…. I´m not so good with updating, and I never seem to get better. But I do my best, and that have to be enough 🙂

Some Halloween themed ATCs for a swap:

121025-halloween-atc3 121025-halloween-atc2121025-halloween-atc1

I started a swedish ATC group for 8 years ago, and we had an 8 themed swap recently and I made several cards like this:
121113-atcsverige8år

It´s mostly made digitally and printed. Then I coulored in some details by hand also.

Here are a DecoSquare with the theme “forest in autumn”:
121125-treesinautumnDS-viaLD

This is a bracelet I have made for a friend:

121203-armband-tMaria

I crocheted a giftbag to put it in

121203-virkadpresentpåse-tMaria

I made this card also for my friend. It has some crocheted details, I crocheted the lace on the edge directly on the card, that´s the first time I have tried that. I crocheted the heart also and added it to the card.

121203-grattismaria

This is all for this time. I have made some “christmasthemed” things also but don´t have photos to share yet. So that will be another time 🙂

Take care,

/Annelie

New cards and ATCs

As usual my updates don´t come often…. 🙂
But, this are some of the things I have made since my last blogpost!

Two Birthday cards, first for my nephew Edvin:

(the rocket pic/embellishment I have hand embroidered on fabric)

And for my nephew Isak:

This is a fall card, I have used real leafs that I have dried/pressed, as a decor (the left hand lower corner), and the picture is of the bush that the leafs actually are picked from 🙂

This is a simple fall card, I have cut these hexagonal shapes from ads of usual “fall flowers” and decorations, glued them on thicker paper, in this “pattern” and outlined the shapes and wrote a greeting in metallicgold pen.

These are 4 ATCs I have made for an “angel” themed swap I participated in. The angels I have crocheted and then stitched them to fabric backgrounds and also added beads as embellishments, and embroidered the stitched edgings.

These are atc´s with “zentangle” theme.

And, this is all for now!
