Generation 2 – Chapter 2: Things change alot

“Nice skin, nice hair,” i said to myself looking a last time in the mirror that morning. I had my self confidence ready today, a nice speech about myself, and the right ambitions to make it.

So off we go, i couldn’t stop myself from running the last few steps to the door. I had my job interview today and i was so excited that the half had been enough. Today i was going to show the world that Ashton Change was going to climb the ladder of business and reach the top. But one step at the time. First getting the job.

And wonderful i got it. And i had to tell mother the good news, so i rushed home again and found her in the kitchen.
“Mother, mother,” my voice was not under my control so i nearly yelled it out, “i got it, i got it!”
“You got what?” she asked looking annoyed at me.
“The job mother, the job at CTTD.”

And from there it all changed like and cold ice storm had hit the kitchen.
“Ashton Change, how dare you be such a shame to this family, i thought i raised you well.”
“But mother i didn’t do anything ….”
“Don’t interrupt me son! I have raised you all equally and your the only one failing me. Why Ashton, why do you have to work, why cant you just be like your brother and sisters?”

The argument last for hours. And after that i didn’t really talk to either my father or my mother. It was kinda awkward but i could live with it i hadn’t even thought at quitting my job yet to satisfy her. So i worked and worked and people at CTTD started noticing me. I was happy even if i had a strange feeling about fighting my parents.

For a long time now mother and Dahlia had planned a happy family fishing trip to a lake outside town.
On the way out the door Dahlia turned around and asked: “Are you coming Ashton?”
“No sis, I’m not going to ruin this for you.”
And so they left of and stayed the whole evening. After they had fished for hours they all sat down and enjoyed the light of the fireplace.

In the mean time i Iwas at home waiting on a call from Niela, then she had just had her first day at work today and i wanted to know how it went.
Suddenly someone was knocking at the door and when i opened i saw Niela standing there and crying. As an reflex i just pulled her in to an hug.

We sad down on the couch in the house and i asked her to tell me what happened. Why she was crying and how it went with the job.
“Its not the job that is the problem,” Niela answered, “all went very well there and i got it. They even told me to inform you about a meeting in the near future. But no the problem is my dad.”

“Yesterday we had this big fight about me getting the journalism job. He yelled at me, said i was a shame for the family just like your mother did with you. But the worst part is when i came home today and told him i got it he threw me out. I have no place to stay now.”

I couldn’t just let her go that evening and i wouldnt let her sleep outside somewhere. So when the others went home after their trip i simply had to tell them the whole story.
“Niela, you are going to stay here, and no, you cant say no to my offer, take a nights sleep and we will look at it tomorrow,” my mother said to Niela and so Niela spend that night on our couch.

After Niela moved in my father started to expanding the house so we finally got a living room. He had also installed a fireplace and when Niela and i was working, Iris and Carmelo at school and Dahlia in the grocery store mother and father lit the fire for the first time.
But a little fireplace couldn’t generate that much smoke should it?
Generation 2 – Chapter 1: Becomming an adult

Today it is. Today im turning 21. Im finally old enough to start working at the Cooperated Twin Tower Department. Also called the CTTD. Im old enough to move out from here as soon as i earned enough money. Im finally ready to realise my dreams, show the world that even a farmers boy can reach the top if he wants it.

Mother had invited both friends and family for celebrating my day today. She baked this amazing looking cake. And as i was to blow out the candle and make my wish my thoughts wandered back through my teen years to my childhood.

I where back at school. In the classroom where the other children tried to tease me about my skin color again, but i didnt listen anymore. It was today we had career days. I had been waiting on them for months now.

Mrs. Sunshine started to call out the names and to which business we where assigned, and finally she got to my name. “Ashton Change and Niela Moss, you are going to the CTTD.” I couldnt help smiling i was so happy, i always wanted to see the inside of CTTD, but sharing that with Niela, she was the most grumpy girl in my class.

We went to the CTTD that sunday not speaking a word to each other, we both really disliked the company of the other. But a few hours inside these towers changed a lot at that point. We played all the time togehter after this.

We had our birthdays parties togehter, made our homework togehter, shared our scerets, she simply was my best and only friend.

The biggest secret we shared was the one we discovered when we where taking a walk to clear our heads. We walked across town and ended up at the graveyard to pick my father up after work so we could walk home together. When we got close we heard some crying and looked inside the gates and much to my surprise it was my father standing there crying over a grave.“Who can he be crying about?” i asked Niela curiously, then as far as i knew no one in my family had died in the last couple of years.“Thats the grave of Mary Lu Broke,” Niela answered while she where bitting her own lips.

We needed to know more about it so we went to the graveyard, to watch him again, and the results werent pleasant. This time we actually where kinda shocked, then he wasnt alone, she was with him, the ghost of Mary Lu.I could have killed him that night, if Niela hadnt been there to hold me back.

We had a fight, a verbal fight, but thats not so important any longer, i just hope he never hurts mother. So even if i disliked being near him, i stood right next to him in the family picture mother had wished for.

And then we celebrated Dahlias 21 birthday. She was so happy that day when she heard moms decision that it was her who would take over the farm. And i was glad too, then i didnt wanted the farm.

“Stop daydreaming and blow out your candles Ashton,” Niela said with impatians in her voice.“Yesh, relax,” i smiled and blew out the candles, yes i was finally an young man.
“What do you think Mother,” she said as she showed me the portrait she had done of Buck.

All thing was working out very well at home now. When Dahlia and Ashton where at school and Buck sleeping i used my spare time playing with or teaching the twins their skill. Carmelo loved to learn something new while Iris was more quiet and just wanted to play.
“You should have Buck quitting his job, then you could expand the garden, and you could make money with fishing besides the garden.”
“But Buck is so proud of his work at the mausoleum, and he still helps me in the garden.”
“The mausoleum is no good for you or your family my dear, the best would be if you make him quit.”

Dahlia was so happy being outside eather painting, fishing or gardening that i didnt had any concern about her. But Ashton got me worried. But it was better going with him than letting him go to the city by himself so we took to the library.
Generation 1 – Chapter 7: Growing so fast

Soon we had a lot of birthdays to celebrate. First of it was the twins or rather Carmelo. His hair was growing strong and had the beautiful green color like mine. Carmelo was also the only of our kids how had his fathers eyes.

Then it was Iris turn. She had her fathers brown hair and it was long and wild. She had my green eyes though and i swear i sometimes see them glow in the dark.

In the same evening also Dahlia got older. My little sunshine how just had learn to talk and walk was now ready for school. She wasnt very excited about it then she didnt want to leave the garden and sit indoor all day. But i promised her if she got good grades she could help me in the garden when she was ready for high school.

The nights where hard with all the little ones who didnt wanted to sleep at the same time. So Buck and i started taking shift with them a night. The only one who didnt minded them screaming was Dahlia who after playing in the garden all day sleept through every noise.

Dahlia wasnt not very happy that morning when she had to go to school. But we convinced her with a promise. For her birthday she had asked for a easel but we didnt had the money for it. But this morning Buck told me he had seen one for sale. So as soon as Dahlia got home from school she asked Buck to move the easel out to my garden so she could start paint.

Im not feeling very young any longer and who wonders. After the birth of our four lovely children i felt the time catching me too. I turned 35 that night. I had just cleaned the toilet when i realized that i was a full grown adult now.

It was birthday on birthday, in our little house. The next one was our little genius Ashton. Ashton grew up to look a lot more like me but in one thing we where more than different. If we asked him to come out and play or go on a fishing trip with us he refused he rather wanted to sit inside in his bed and read or think.

Ashton and Dahlia was going to the same school and because it was quite a long walk i let them drive with the bus. As i saw them inside the bus it looked like Ashton was ready to protect his elder sister. What a silly idea, then neither Dahlia nor her teacher had spoken about problems in school.

Besides his work Buck has now been working on our kitchen for months and finally he called me inside one day.
“What do you think my Rose,” he asked with proud in the voice.
It was small and we couldnt eat in it but it was beautiful and i had all the items i needed for cooking proper meals for the family. Instead of answering him with words i just kissed him.

I was on the phone with the dear Colten Case from the other side of the town when i heard the news about my new baby sister. My mother had had a hard pregnancy with little Acacia but they where both well now. But more was happening in my family Susie and Derreck had broken up. Apparently because they werent allowed to meet very often.

Dahlia was our little sunshine, we used every spare minute to teach her to talk, walk and use her little potty. She loved us both but she clearly was Mommy’s little daughter. She always where in the same room as me and even if i was working she came crawling and started digging with her little fingers.

Time was a lot faster than we where, and soon Trigger announced that he was getting married with a young girl named Linda. I was feeling some sickness and stayed home but Buck took to the wedding. He said it was beautiful and that Trigger never had been so happy since his mother died.

When Buck was a the wedding i was doing as much as i could in the garden, as i suddenly felt some pain in my stomach. I had gained some weight lately and now i had the feeling of being pregnant again, but i wasnt sure so i didnt tell Buck anything.

“Im so happy we are having a little one more, my rose, i always loved having the house full of kids.”
As we stood their together, Buck started speaking, feeling and listening to the tummy.
“I think its a boy,” he said, “the little kicker is active.”
The next day we had little Ashtons birthday, we didnt invite any people just us four. He grew elder without his hair growing but we started seeing the little green tots. He was a little active bright brain and he loved to play with the few toys we could afford. He specially loved to play with the toy Dahlia currently had laid her hands on.
We where at sleep on night when i suddenly felt a huge pain inside. I screamed my pain into the pillow so i didnt wake up the little ones. I woke up Buck with a worried look in the face.
“Its coming, dear!” I gasped, “It doesnt feel right, we need to go get help.”

Buck was right a little boy, we named him Carmelo. But that wasnt the end of my pain. I couldnt understand it. Why didnt the pain go away. As i felt the second baby i new what was wrong. I was getting twins. The second little one was a girl, wíth the name Iris.

Generation 1: Chapter 5 – Green genes

I was a bit afraid because my Mother wont take the phone when i was calling her lately so i asked Buck to go pick her up for me.
“Mother!,” i said gladly, “I have some great news for you. Please come and see your first granddaughter.”
“Not so fast my dear,” she said, “I cant go faster, we just discovered that you are getting a younger sibling.”
“Im so happy for you Mother, you always wanted more kids.”

“She is a sweet pie my dear, but look at you dear, you look like you could use some sleep, the first pregnancy is hard. Take some rest ill watch over my little granddaughter until Buck comes home again.”
“Thank you Mother,” i said and got in bed. I fall asleep as soon as i lay down, knowing everything was alright.
Daffodil took up Dahlia: “My little sweet pie, i hope you, your mother and you siblings will never find out what i know about the Brokes.

As soon as Buck came home Mother left again. They never really talk with each other, its nearly like they are avoiding something. Buck had worked hard that night and gotten the last possible promotion at the Mausoleum. But he also turned 50 that night, not that you could se it on him.

I got the message that i had gotten a little sister, and they named her Winter because she was born in a cold month. We had to celebrate an other birthday too. It seemed like yesterday that i had given birth to Dahlia. She grew up, and her hair had started showing. It was green just like mine, and she definitely had my green eyes to.

I was also pregnant again. I didnt knew before i felt the first kick inside my tummy. It must be a boy Buck laughed with all that kicking. And i hope he was right. I always wanted to have both a girl and a boy. It was long before we found out then my water broke a night not long after when Buck was at work.

The birth was much easier this time i wasnt afraid and the little one came to this world without any problems. It was a boy and we had decided to name him Ashton. Ashton skin was green like mine and his eyes also, and even if I could be wrong im sure that I saw some green hair on his head too.

We had bought an other crib so there was a place for everybody to sleep. I adored my two children. They where the love of my life, as so was Buck. We where one little happy family. I couldnt wish for more. The only ones who wasnt really happy where Mother and Father, even though they should be. I was happily married and had two healthy children. And Derreck my dear brother had fallen in love with little Susie Broke, Bucks daughter.
Generation 1: Chapter 4 – 1 + 1 makes 3

Waking up in Bucks arms felt like i was still dreaming. The nice little house, consisting of a bedroom and a small bath room was the nicest thing someone ever had given me. It really felt like home.

After sometime we decided that Buck helped me out at the farm but he kept his job at the cemetery. We didn’t have much money so that was the only solution we could think of to survive as a little family. Buck did get paid very well there and he still was able to get some promotions.

One day when i was doing the garden i suddenly felt very ill and ran in to the bathroom only in time before i had to vomit. I blamed the food we had last night but deep inside i felt that something else what about to happen.

A morning i then was sure. I couldn’t sleep any longer and very quiet i climbed out of the bed so that Buck wouldn’t wake up. As i was standing there i could fell it. I was pregnant. Our wedding night had gotten consequences.

After doing the garden i walked in to Buck again. He was still asleep so i kindly kissed his cheeks.
“Good morning dear,” I said, “get up i have something to tell you.”
I gave him a little kiss before i said:
“Buck my dear I’m pregnant, we are getting a little one.”
“That’s wonderfull Roselia, my love,” he said when he laid down his head to my tummy and tried to listen to the little wonder in there.

Buck started taking over the work in the house more and more. Even if i felt sick and tried to do the garden i couldnt really help much. I never thought of that a pregnancy was so hard. I tried to call my Mother to ask about being pregnant but she never took the phone, and i was to weak to go all the way. Buck told me he knew what to do, i should just relax when the water started breaking.

I felt it more and more each day and i was afraid of how it would go. Would the girl og boy i cared in me be healthy? A evening not long after i felt that the water broke. Buck was still at work so even if i screamed out my pain no one could hear me. I felt so alone in the world and had nearly give up when i heard the first noises from the little one i have gaven birth to.

It was a little girl, a little healthy girl. I wrapped her in a blanket and hold her close. My little beautifull girl had her fathers skin color but a little green spark in her eyes. I never her Dahlia then she was as beautifull as the flower itself.

When Buck came home and saw me with Dahlia he was overhappy that all things went right. That night when Dahlia was asleep we where lying arm in arm looking at each other and thinking the same thing. Little Dahlia shouldnt be our only child.

This was probably the best news i could bring home, besides that I just had harvested the first crops in the garden. As soon as I kissed Buck goodbye i rushed home to my Mother and Father. I walked up to the first floor where i found Mother in Derrek’s room. She had just putted him down for his noon sleep as i opened the door.

“Mother,” I whispered, and gave her a hug, ” do you have a second i wanna tell you something important.”
“Sure my dear,” she said and so we left the room as quietly as possible.
“Mother, you remember the friend, Buck i told you about right?”
“Of cause my dear, how can i forget him, our family has known his for generations now.”

“I love him Mother and he proposed to me, we are going to get married at the Gazebo Sunday in a month,” as i said it Mother didn’t seem to be happy, there was so a sad light in her eyes, “aren’t you happy for me Mother?”
“I’m happy for you my dear,” she said trying to smile, “as long as you are happy I’m happy to.”

About two weeks before the wedding Buck called me and asked me to come and meet his family. And surely I wanted that. Buck had already told me that he where living together with his brother and his family, and because of the friendly nature i have i couldn’t wait to finally meet them.

Buck was living in on a lot were there where 3 smaller houses and a big nice area in the middle. As i came walking up to the door i just was so nervous that my hand wouldn’t stop shaking when i tried to knock on the door. It was Buck who opened the door. And before i even got to say hello he grabbed me close and kissed me passionately.

“Buck,” I whispered still holding him close, “I saw your family through the window. Your brother does really have 4 nice looking children.”
He looked so shocked as I said that, that it made me afraid.
“Trigger and Susie aren’t Felix children, they are mine. That was what i wanted to tell you about today. I and Mary were very young when we got Trigger, we weren’t really ready at that time but i really love my children. Mary died when she gave birth to Susie.”

I needed a couple of days to think about the information from that night. But Buck was the love of my life and nothing should bring us apart. After some talking with both children i really felt accepted. Trigger and I was having great time talking to each other and he was really like his father.

Susie was a lot shyer and they all said she looked like her mother. But both children were great and i knew that Bucks and my own children would be that to. After some talking with Buck, Trigger and Susie we found out that the children wanted to stay by their onkel and aunt.

The Sunday came where Buck and i should marry and i was so nervous. We where holding it in the Gazebo one of the most romantic places in Riverview at that time. Both our families was invited but because we were holding it on a residential place some people from the town where there to.

“With these words my dear Roselia I want to make you my wife. You are the most beautiful flower I ever seen. In a garden with the worlds must lovely flowers you would be the only one my eye would catch. Please take this ring as a yes.”
“With these words my dear Buck I want to make you my husband. You are the love of my life. I have never met someone who could make me happier than you do now. Please take this ring as a yes.”

After the rings where exchanged the party started. All were just dancing and talking. It was really good to see how everybody had a good time. I’ll say that this day was the best day in my life. When the guest started to head home Buck took my hand and whispered to me that he had a surprise for me so we headed home.

Back home he really got me surprised. The last piece of the way he hold his hands before my eyes and I really was shocked when he took them down. While we where at the wedding he had used all his spare money to hire some workers to build a little hood for us.

I cant say anything other than I was over happy. And we spend over wedding night together in our new house totally in love.
