No commitment!

Just found out that Lucille Roberts is offering a $5 a month, no commitment, no contract plan. They are speaking my language! Woo hoo! Going to check out their Yelp reviews now.

What happened to spring?

The first week of vacation was wonderful! Warm and sunny days. This week has been chilly, but apparently not cool enough to turn to the heat on in the building. So lately I've been looking at these beauty sites that talk about the new trends with fingernails. I have never been big on doing my own nails. My mother had these long luxurious fingers that she manicured and painted herself. I have these short stubby fingers that I don't like to do myself. When I worked in offices I would get my nails done in a nail shop about every 2 weeks. I had let that slip since I have been working this job and my nails have been downright embarrassing at times. I've started going to the nail shop again, but I also need to be able to care for my fingers at home between visits. Target had Essie Nail polishes on sale last week and I picked up two colors and a top coat. My polishes have actually been lasting a while. The time before last I had a pretty pink and this time I got OPI bubble bat...

The grass is always greener on the other side of the bridge

Wait, now that I think of it I didn't see any grass. I had a nice day today. I took a walk down a neighborhood street with a girl who was doing a project for school. Not sure if what I had to contribute was useful, but hey. It was too nice a day to go back home, so I got my nails done.  A pretty pink  color to match the sweater I was wearing. I'm going to wait until next week to get my pedicure. I need to also get my eyebrows threaded and get an hour long massage. My muscles are so tense. I have to start taking better care of myself. I also need to get a gym membership going again. This is the year I get myself together. I have my passport book and card and I am ready to go right now! I went to Brooklyn after I got a manicure and had the most wonderful sangria I've ever had at a place literally around the corner from my old apartment in Brooklyn, called Outpost . They put ginger in that baby! It was delicious! They also had a homestyle mac and cheese and a nice selection...

Oh hail naw!

Just saw some unflattering pictures of myself. Guess where I will be for my vacation? In the gym! Seriously, this is ridiculous! File under reality check!

Counting down to spring

Only a couple of days left before I start my spring vacation! Woo hoo! No plans to travel anywhere. I think I am going to take advantage of my passport and go some where I can earn a stamp in the summer. People have been pissing me off. I am in need of some "me" time. Spring is my season.

Energy zapped

Wow! What a day, what a day. I feel like I was on the run from the time I walked out my front door until I got home. I wanted to attend an event after work, but the day kicked my butt. Hard. My "down time" was completely highjacked by a meeting that took an hour. The afternoon was non-stop. Now, I have another conference call tonight. Just like last night, when I get off this call I am going right sleep. Light outside or not. I'm whipped. G'Night.

Coltrane and Coffee

Good Morning! What a refreshing sleep I had last night. I went to sleep around 8 PM and awoke at 5 AM. I don't consider myself a morning person, but I love how much I can get done when I wake up early. Not that I did anything special, but just having a few moments to myself before starting my very busy day is enough. I have on some Coltrane and was able to actually sit down and drink my coffee rather than stealing sips as I walk toward the door. I was able to commune with God as I listened to gospel on the radio and I read a morning devotional. I am refreshed, revitalized and ready to start my day. If I could do this every day I would definitely be up for going to gym every morning. As a matter of fact, I think I am going to pay my get caught up on my gym membership and start using it. They recently opened a second facility near the other and I understand that as long as you use it before the peak hours of 6-8 it isn't so bad. While I doubt I would go back out after 8PM, I co...

On hold

So, I adjusted all of my plans to be on this conference call this evening and I am sitting here and there is no one else on the call. I was supposed to be a half hour call and it is now about 25 minutes in and no one is there. This is the kind of stuff that pisses me off because I left an event early to take the call and I am tired as hell since I only had a few hours sleep. Soon as 7:30 rolls around I am hanging up, turning off the phone and crawling in the bed. I doubt I will wake up in the middle of the night because I am so tired. If I do, I need to write any how. Counting the days down to my vacation!

Where did Sunday go?

Image
What a short Sunday! Even though I woke up early I still did not get much done. I spent the morning uploading pictures, paying bills, and finally getting out of the house. It was a lovely spring-like day (I never get tired of saying this. This "winter" has been absolutely Ah-may-zing!) The goal was to get a mani-pedi and then take care of one or two errands. Didn't work out that way. Seems everyone else must have had the same idea because the nail salon was busy. Not packed, but a steady flow of customers. I was in there for hours. On the plus side, my feet are baby soft and my nails are cleaned up. I also got a 10 minute massage. I also checked out a new little flea market that recently opened up. Picked up some cute jewelry.  Stopped for dinner to go and headed home. Ready to start this week before vacation!

Spring Forth

Despite losing an hour this weekend, I woke up early and rested. I am sitting here contemplating brunch and a mani-pedi before coming home to clean up and write. I have a long to do list for this vacation: taxes go to The Hamptons (and hopefully D.C.) buy and decent shredder and shred years worth of paper that has piled up job hunt write renegotiate payment arrangements for student loans I'm sure there is more, but that is all I can think of. I should also get an oil change since I think I am overdue for one and typically do it around this time.  I need to head out before Lazy Pants decides to come visit.

W.A.D.

What a day! I started off by getting up early to wash clothes before attending 3 events. I also got my first passport since I was a kid! I am so excited since this has been a goal of mine for at least two years now. I can scratch it off of my to do list list! Where shall I go first? Tonight, I have one more event to attend and then I am done. Tomorrow I shall do absolutely nothing! If I have enough energy I will go grocery shopping, clean, and cook for the week ahead. Next week will be another crazy, busy week. The follow week I will be on vacation! Heck-frickin-yeah! When I will find the time to write?  I will have to sneak it in there somehow.

Stay in your lane

So, I know that I am not a recruiter or salesperson. I just don't have the go for it. I try to stay in my lane, but folks always want you to do things you know you aren't good at. In other news, the rumor that half of the staff will be let go is true. So many people have been let go so far. Not a good move to have that many new bodies in an organization. But, I will just stay in my lane.

and the &$%@ hits the fan

One of my co-workers was "not invited back next year." This makes me sad. I encouraged her months ago to start looking for something else because things weren't going well. My sleep schedule has been off. I've been staying up too late and getting too little sleep. I couldn't stay awake tonight and went to sleep at 7 PM. Now I am up. I had something else to write about but can't think of it now. Will try to get more sleep.

Trying to keep the balls in the air

So glad to be home. Spent the weekend working on "board" stuff. Trying to catch up on emails and stuff that sat dormant since December. I updated all of the social media and emails only to have to undo it because the chairperson didn't want everything streamlined. That was pretty annoying, especially since she expects me to be the person checking two different email accounts as well as Facebook and Twitter. I can barely stay on top of my own stuff! Speaking of, I went to a concert Saturday night. I would have pulled out if it wasn't for the fact that I had flaked on Friday night. It was nice to be out. Funny thing is this person asked to syndicate my other site. He provided two posts. Last week's post was a day late. This week's post is MIA. I saw him walking down 125th street and wanted to stop him to ask him why I didn't get my post this week. He disappeared into the crowd with his silver mid-length jacket. Sunday, I played catch up with all of my er...
