“This Meetup is devoted to exploring how Spotify’s technology stack works and to the hackers who use Spotify’s APIs. We’ll get together to meet both Spotify engineers and business leaders and anyone who takes the time to do something cool with Spotify’s APIs.”

“This is the first in a series of tutorials on functional programming. We will begin with elementary concepts and assume you have never seen functional code before. Although the Scheme programming language serves our immediate purposes best (it is powerful, expressive, and not statically typed), we will constantly show and discuss parallel functional features in other languages, Ruby, Python, Scala, OCaml, and Haskell.”

“Ready to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty? Continuing on from Jeff’s work, I’ll be giving a hand-on F# workshop at our next meet up. We’ll work through some easy to moderate level problems.”
We’re having a BIG all-day Scala meetup in New York on February 18, the Northeast Scala Symposium. People are coming from all over the place and it’s going to be super-sweet.
But various clocks are ticking! The first is the deadline to vote for the headline presentation. You have until midnight EST on this Wednesday, December 15th, to get your vote in. Thursday we’ll announce the winner, and of course all contestants are welcome to come and present regardless of who gets the travel offset.
The other limit approaching in starts and fits is the rsvp maximum. We can only offer 100 seats and those are going to be filled. There will be a day, possibly even a day in December, when it’s too late to get a ticket for the 2011 Scala Symposium. So you just might want to think about that as you surf the web between drunken holiday parties this week.
END OF LINE.
