Cookin5m² is the blog of Hisham Assaad, a passionate food enthusiast, author, food photographer, and humanitarian clown. Hisham has always had a deep connection with food, and his blog serves as a platform for him to share his culinary experiences, recipes, and writings.
Hisham has written two cookbook: Bayrūt The Cookbook and Taboon

Hisham’s second book focuses more on dough, baked goods, and sweets. Recipes featured in this book cover different types of Manouche, buns, and bread, and a wide array of sweets from Bilad Al Sham; Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria.
In this book, Hisham digs deep into stories he rarely talks about; memories of living in the refugee camp but from a culinary and olfactory perspective.
This book was written while the attacks on Paelestine and Lebanon have been increasing, and it was hoped that it would have stopped by the time the book is scheduled to be published.

Bayrūt The Cookbook.
In this beautifully curated cookbook, Hisham takes readers on a captivating journey through the rich culinary heritage of his family and traditional Beiruti dishes. From mouthwatering mezzes to hearty stews, Bayrūt The Cookbook offers an authentic taste of Lebanon, filled with flavors and stories passed down through generations.
Aside from his culinary expertise, Hisham is also an accomplished food photographer. He worked for clients like Moulin D’or, Feryal The Mouneh Boutique, Meptico (Domo), Lakkis, Say It With Chocolate, and many more.

PHOTO EXHIBITIONS


Hisham held his first solo photography exhibition on February 29, 2024 with 17 framed artworks displayed and on sale for 2 months at Blush Beirut.
His first residency with BeyArt was at Saj Stories with 8 artworks.
The curation process of these photographs, accredited to Hanine Abdel Rahman, was to choose artworks that match the ambience and theme and even the color palette of the venues.
