I found a couple of old Kryomek Bio-Tanks in the Loft Full Of Lead and I am thinking about repainting them for my One Page Rules Alien Hive army.

No quite sure what colours to use yet, but as my force is mostly old Tyranids, I guess it will need to be a scheme that fits in at least a little bit…

Whats On The Table?
In the first issue of the GW Combat Patrol last year, there was a Winged Prime model, which I have now built ready to join the undercoating queue.

Whats On The Table?
I wanted to add a few more models to my Tyranid force a while back, so I took advantage of the Combat Patrol early issues to buy a few of Von Ryans Leapers.

As the body and head was once part, I could not be bothered to do much reposing, so I limited myself to just randomlu swapping the claws around.

Three of the models were built following the instructions, so six others ended up being a bit different.

It may be a while until they get undercoated, too cold here right now.
Ork Flamer Boyz
I seem to have exactly five old Ork models with flamers which is just enough for a unit.

Of may of course find one or two more in the pile, but we will see…
Ork Warbikes
A bit of speed and mobile firepower for the Ork Waaargh!

Three classic Warbikes with twin cannons ready to rip up the roads and have some fun.
Ork Scrapjet
Rivets done, a bit of rust added and completed with an ink wash.

That makes two Scrapjets finished for the Ork Waaargh!

Whats On The Table?
The first Ork vehicle for the New Year is this FDM printed Scrapjet, a second for my Ork Waaagh!

I have started painting the rivets and realised it was probably not the best idea…
Looking Ahead to 2026
What is the wargaming plan for 2026?
Painting Stuff?
One priority is to complete some of the goals I set myself for 2024. That’s right, the goals from 2024, not 2025. I clearly failed at some of my 2025 goals. I really need to finish my House Cadmus Imperial Knights. There are fewer left to do than at the start of 2025, but still more to do, including one to build.
The ongoing project for the first half of 2026 is to complete a reasonable sized army list of Orks. I need to work out a few army lists, including for 8th Edition Warhammer 40K (just in case we ever play 40K it again), at least 2000 points for One Page Rules Grimdark Future and finally for my 3rd Edition No Limits rules. There are still several FDM printed Ork models not yet painted, including a few Puppets War models like the excellent Aliens style OPC and the O-14 Fighter Jet.

There are a few Ork Puppets War models that I am having resin printed, so they will get added to the queue when they arrive, I suspect they will jump to the front of the queue as I am looking forward to them.
I also acquired some new Tyranid models to add to my old style force, including the newer Prime and Leapers models. I also found a couple of old Kryomek bio-tanks on the Loft Full of Lead and these need a quick repaint to bring them into the “bug” army.
On the fantasy side, I need to concentrate on a few units, mainly foot knight models from Black Scorpion and Baratheon models from Game Of Thrones.
As the year starts, I only have two terrain projects to work on, the first being a rather nice multi-level Guard House for Silver Bayonet style games. The second is a large amount of trench terrain for some narrative games.
Anyway, that is the painting plan…and it does not exclude anything else I might print (see below).
Building and Printing Stuff?
I have just finished printing an Ork Stompa, so that needs to get built in time for outside priming season.

Just started is another large Ork vehicle, a multi-tracked Mega-Battlewagon that should look amzing when finished.
I also have an insane desire to print an Ork Gargant, but I may seek psychiatric help first.
A few months ago, another Kickstarter from The Fabricators Lair was delivered and I really need to print a smallish test piece. This contains loads of modular components to build all sorts of Gothic Fortress terrain, my biggest challenge will be how to store anything big that is printed.
Around the same time, another more complex terrain Kickstarter delivered, a huge sci-fi modular set with endless potential. This one will need some thinking about before I start anything. This set has the capability to have LED strip lights added, a step too far? But it does look good, so I could be persuaded to have a go as a long term project.
Buying Stuff?
The ongoing goal is to build and paint what I already have and not buy too much new stuff.
2026 may be the first time in many years that I will not go to Salute in April, and quite possibly any other show this year.
One thing I was good at in 2025 was getting rid of old models on eBay and I plan on continuing the purge in 2026.
No Limits 3rd Edition
During 2025, we played several games of my own No Limits 3rd Edition, which is really a more generic version of my Steam Wars game. No Limits 3D takes the Steampunk rules and expands them to work in multiuple genres. In the first half of 2026, I need finished editing the rules PDF and rework the spreadsheet a bit. There are some extra ideas I have that need to be incorporated, mainly so we can include some of the larger models in our collections. These rules will be available online at some stage.
Games For 2026
So what is it to be in 2026 on the dice throwing front?
Apart from my own rules, Steam Wars and No Limits, there are a number of games we want to play some more.
We had a couple of refresher games of Mordheim late in 2025 and we want to run a short campaign. I think I will be using my old Rackham Orcs for extra krumpin’ potential.
Another campaign we want to run is the newish Bones Of Albion campaign for The Silver Bayonet.
For larger games, some more One Page Rules Grimdark Future will be trotted out, although I do find the way be suddenly remove units from army list a bit frustrating (my Orks being an example). I will have to try out the Patreon again to get access to the full army builder and create my own retro Ork list.
Also from One Page Rules, there is their fantasy rules and their space battle game Warfleets.
Will there be time for anything else in 2026? Oathmark, Age of Sigmar, Warcry, Laser Bayonet?
As usual, the main goal is to continue to have fun with the building the painting and the game playing.
Have a great New Year and let’s see what the year brings. ![]()

That Was 2025
So what happened in 2025?
For me, the biggest wargaming progress was made with my old and new sci-fi Ork army. I 3D printed a load of Ork vehicles and Mechs in the first half of the year and actually managed to get paint on quite a few of them in the second half.
The Games
As it turned out, 2025 was perhaps not the best year for getting games played. No one particular game stood out as the most played, although One Page Rules Grimdark Future and my own Steam Wars/No Limits games did get several good games going. Other games that saw a bit of action included Bushido, Warcry, Dust and a bit of Turnip28, although definitely not not enough Turnip28.

3D Printing
As mentioned Ork vehicles were rolling off the print bed at a steady rate and some of the big models did actually get painted in a very busy Orktober.

This Guard Tower is a large bit of terrain got added to the painting pile, but at least is now undercoated…
…although the same thing can’t be said for the trench complex that got printed much earlier in the year.

The Figures
When I started out in January 2025, I wanted to get my Imperial Knights finished. I did not. I did manage to get one nearly done, but there are still a few to start and then all the bases to do.

One success however, was the completion of my Van Saar models, not a lot of them, and they do include some nice proxies, but they have been used in One Page Rules Grimdark Future Firefight already, so that is a win!

A few other odds and ends did get some paint, a few Turnip28 models got completed to finish off some units and figures for The Silver Bayonet were finally done for the Bones of Albion campaign.
Then of course there are the old Orks. I have a decent sized bucket of Ork models from the 1980’s and 1990’s and finally got started in touching up and repainting a load.

With so many to do, I have split them into units to tackle the volume.

Progress is slow, but they do look a bit better now.

2025 was a good year for my Orks, but perhaps not the best for other models…
Merry Christmas
Have a very Merry Christmas.
