 Drove by the Sacramento CA Stata Capital building today. It is majestic.

Weather reports

Looking at the weather reports and seeing road closures and accidents everywhere, I am thankful we made it through those same roads a day before the weather hit. We are enjoying being with family.

Left for Roger's

 We left for California 0n the 22nd.  We drove to Elko, NV and spent the night there.

We continued to Antelope on the 23rd and arrived there early evening.

First Offer on House

We heard that we had an offer on the house.  It was a verbal offer.  This all happened within a week.   The people offered $280,000 plus paying the closing costs.  The house is listed at $205,000 so we thought that was a little low.  I learned  about closing costs though which made that a better deal than I originally thought.

We counter with 285,000 and they pay closing....  They want the washer and dryer included in the deal also.  When they submitted the written offer, they backed out of the closing costs totally and dropped the offer back to 280.000 still wanting the washer and dryer, as well.  They also put a clause in the contract of having 6 months to find things that needed repair and submitting that to us to repair.  

We were the only ones trying to negotiate.  I wanted to walk away then - not feeling good about these people at all.  Shayne, our broker, talked us into making one more counter.  He thought they found out they did not have the money they thought they had and the closing would be more than they could come up with along with their down payment.

We tried one more time.  They didn't even have the decency to respond.

At first my heart was broken, but I don't want to be taken advantage of either so it wasn't meant to be.  The house has barely been on the market for a month so we will wait some more.

Presents arrived

What a surprise to receive this pkg today from my brother Frank! It is filled with goodies and with delicious pears and apples from Oregon. Thank you Frank. We are enjoying this so much!

We attended this tonight. It was very well done and we were glad we attended.

Dentist in Salem

 Had my (a little more than) 6 month checkup at the new dentist today. X-rays , checkup, cleaning with a thumbs up. Dr. Justin Perry's my new dedtist.

Dr Pope

I had a dr appointment with Dr. Pope today.  He is examining my thyroid closer.  He doesn't like the way the numbers are reading.  He decidd to lower one of my medicines down quite a bit - from 25 to 10. 

My A1C test was the lowest it has ever been - 5.7%.  He may deal with changing some of those meds, too. I wanted to work on one at a time.

He had given me a pill called gabapentin to try to lower my pain in my feet.  This medicine ended up given me severe diarrhea o I quit taken it.  He gave me cymbalta instead. I hope this works.

Del Dimick Birthday

 Today was Del's birthday.  We went over for cake and ice cream.

Forgotten Carols

We attended the musical of Michael McLean's The Forgotten Carol in Richfield tonight. We had excellent seats near the front and center. 

It was excellent. What a reminder of how we need to let the Savior into our lives. I felt the spirit very strongly doing the production.  I love to hear Michael McLean speak and he did at the end.  There is something about him that carries the spirit to others.

I am so glad that we were able to attend this special production!

Leaving Altamont

Left here today as a former Altamont resident. The house is cleaned out and ready for someone else to take over. 

Altamont was a very good chapter in my life and I am grateful for all my experiences and the special people there.

My memories will be with me forever, Thanks to all who interacted with me for the past 5 decades. I will miss you!

Thanksgiving

We were able to celebrate Thanksgiving on Friday the 28th this year. It was my first Thanksgiving as Mrs. Dimick.  There were 10 of us for dinner: Frank. Myself, Ed, Roger, Tanner, Marie, Billy, Dylan, Del and Jeannie. Marie made quite a bit of the dinner and Jeannie brought a couple of pies.

It was wonderful having us all together.  It truly is a joy.

I know that it has to be strange to each of the kids having me married to their father, but they all seem to have accepted me as a different part of the family.

Waiting for Family

We are now waiting in the Cedar City airport for Ed, Roger and Tanner! I an excited that they will be here for Thanksgiving. And Marie, too!

I can't wait for another hour until we pick them up!

Mountain Meadows Massacre Historical Site

We stopped at the Mountain Meadows Massacre Historical Site today. I can't believe such evil took place. tt breaks my heart just thinking about it. I felt such sorrow being there.

I was glad to have the experience of being there though.

Iron Town

We stopped in the ghost town Iron town. Here are some photos from there.

Pine Valley

We went to Pine Valley today. We found some of Frank's relatives buried in the cemetery there.

We saw the historical church house there, too!

They still hold church there in this building!

st George Temple

 We stopped to see the St George Temple today! We weren't able to attend, but I enjoyed seeing it!

Social Security

I had my meeting with Social Security in St George this morning. It was kind of a hassle getting this meeting. It had to be in person. It had been quite stressful. Everything waswent well though and I am finally and officially Carol A Dimick!

The people I worked with today were so kind and helpful!

Doctor report

I had a set of blood tests taken last week... for thyroid and for diabetes. The A1c came back at the 5.7% which is lower than it has been in decades. That is after they took away some of the medicine also. I can't tell you how excited I am.
