The arrival of a new toy today got me pretty excited. I’ve been eye-balling a heavy duty folding wagon for some time now and finally pulled the trigger. So far, I’m very impressed in this little bad boy that will help me immensely on daily mobile shoots when I need to take the mobile studio with. I haven’t been excited about a wagon since I was like… 3!
Here’s a super silly stop motion video I made while testing some camera settings.
Hope you had an amazing day! Make sure you hump someone! 😛
It was another crazy day for me at work… shoot an interview, scout a shooting location, capture some updated pictures for a client. Plus driving around to the tune of 200 miles. Ahhh, the life of a schmuck like me. 🙂 It was a beautiful day. Not quite 78, but the sunshine had me smitten. Hint, cough.
Here’s a pic that caught me off guard today…
Not my best look but a working man. Should I keep my bangs? 😛
While I was driving, I was contemplating how much happier I am in what I do now. It inspires me to make people smile with my creations as I always want to put my own touch on things. I don’t think there’s anything more rewarding than being able to share your creativity.
I found a secluded spot and pulled over to put the bird in the air to catch a picture for the meteorologist. The weather guys and our viewers always get a kick out of my aerials on the broadcasts, so I’ll share another with you. If you haven’t noticed, aerial landscape photography and videography are definitely my favorites…
The ice on most of the lakes is getting quite thin. Think Spring!!
It was a very busy weekend for me. I ended-up working allllll day Saturday (unexpectedly) but I covered a fun series of events shooting video along with the weekend Anchor from the TV station. The theme of everything was Maple Syrup Fest – everything and anything having to do with it. We met a character named Farmer John who owns a farm housing quite the Northwoods syrup operation. John was an absolute hoot and took us through a behind the scenes look into what makes amazing maple syrup. I put together a little feature video for the town Chamber below with aerial footage I captured that aired on the story…
From there, we moved on to the local school which was taken-over by thousands of Maple Syrup Aficionados.
Packed house for Maple Syrup lovers
Twelve sweet hours of shooting and post production later, I was ready to fall over. Sunday, I was a complete useless P.O.S. all day long (and it felt great!)
Good morning and Happy Friday to all of you beauties (yepp, dudes included!) I’m continuing to feel better… well, no longer hacking lung cookies the size of small cars so I’ll take it. The mix of health, sunshine, and fact that the weekend is here has brought out my sass a little so enjoy a few moments of ridiculousness…
Meow, Friday kitty…Well, then, see you at the barCan you guess the first?Couldn’t have said it better myselfIf I lick it, I get to keep it
Now, go lick something something and make it yours! 🙂 Have an amazing weekend.
Wow, what a gorgeous day today. Beautiful healing rays are what I needed still feeling rather like poop. I’ve been outside running from job site to job site all day shooting aerials and video. The 60+ degrees and fresh air have left me rather tired, but at the same time, feeling like revived poop. Wait, errr, ummm.
Anyways, here’s a moment captured today showing things starting to green-up and true signs of Spring while I was scouting a future shooting site. This is the Wisconsin River winding along a State highway, which provides beautiful vistas.
Enjoy. Smile. Breath. Make-out with someone that suits your fancy (as long as they don’t have cooties.) 😉
I had a really shitty weekend… not because the actual weekend sucked, but because my body was invaded with cooties (of the sickness variety.) This is the first actual day I’m feeling human once again, which was good since I’ve had a crazy day of meetings. Being sick as a dog, I still managed to kick myself in the ass and get to work on Saturday to cover a fun event.
How many of you have ever played Ice Golf?!
Yepp, that’s right… 22 teams of brave souls out on the ice having a blast hitting golf balls all over the place. Only in the Northwoods of Wisco. 🙂

Make sure you hug someone today (just don’t catch anything from them!) 🙂
The final night of stunning Eagle River Ice Castle at Dusk
Living in the Northwoods of Wisconsin affords me so many awesome opportunities to capture beautiful imagery. In this case, it was the Eagle River Ice Castle this past Winter. This stunning creation was constructed from ice blocks harvested from an area lake. The All-Volunteer Community staff was headed by the Eagle River Fire Department members that actually built the structure by hand and machine. The Ice Castle has quite the history as a favorite by locals and thousands of visitors alike. Due to weather issues, the Ice Castle took a two year hiatus and was so warmly welcomed back this year in Downtown Eagle River.
Here is a video I shot and produced on the final day of construction, including a hyperlapse of 150 photos edited-in (no audio on this segment.) Both videos are best viewed in 1080 HD so change that setting! 🙂
Sadly, the entire week following construction was unseasonably warm and deteriorated the ice to an unsafe state where it had to be taken down. Luckily, the final night it was standing, I decided to capture it on video since so many people had not had the opportunity to see it.
This video footage was all over the media outlets and went viral on Facebook! I was happy to provide so many people the opportunity to see the amazing work that was a labor of love for the community.
Wednesday Shenanigans just never get old to this prankster.
So, I’m in the process of updating the look of my blog. I didn’t have much time to spend making it pretty on my return, but now I think I’ve settled on a better look. The old style was rather dark and ominous (fitting for that time in my life, but now inappropriate.) The Dark side of the Force is now restricted to naughty days.
I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions on the layout and look. Keep in mind that I’m geared towards sharing photography and media I’ve created versus sharing crazy ass-hat stories that I went out with last night. No promises though… 😉
Or maybe you just swung by to say ‘Sup!’ or ‘How YOU doin?!’ Either way, thanks for your patronage and please drive thru. Remember to hug or lick something… windows acceptable 🙂
Ahhhh… Spring is finally upon us. This has been a rough Winter, especially in my new home of far Northern Wisconsin. Yesterday turned into a gorgeous afternoon which inspired me to create some content for the news broadcast. This is a view from directly over my downtown office studio in my new hometown of Eagle River. For my fellow photography buffs, this short timelapse segment was edited from 250 still pictures. The challenge was that these photos were taken with a drone. Maintaining position and attitude when there is wind is not an easy task. Make sure you watch the videos in 1080P for best viewing experience –
Have an amazing Tuesday and remember to tell someone you love them (or at least want to fornicate them!) 🙂
In my absence here, I’ve been shooting pictures and video like a madman over the past year. I have the awesome opportunity to capture images that many will never see. It’s one of the things I love most about aerial photography/videography – giving people a new view and perspective on things, even if they’ve seen them 100 times.
As part of my apologies for disappearing, here are just a few of the many views I’ve had while working last Summer and Fall. I’m honored that several of my photos have won awards.
