The Pleasure Of Small Things

•October 27, 2008 • 2 Comments

. . .the pleasure of small things, here goes!

The snugness of my hijab on a cold day.

Writing in a brand new clean, empty notebook.

Drinking water in a mug.

Teasing the kids.

Play-dough.

I love modern means of communication but still, post is best!

Staying connected with friends.

On HOPE: because I continue to believe it springs eternal!

On WINTER: Mr. Snowman is my friend 😉

On SUMMER: How I wish there was a way to fast-foward this season already!

Delicious, savoury book, you almost feel sorry reading because reading them means they will soon be over

Ah, and that sigh when you finish a good book!

Listening to my gran’s stories.

When my dad pats me oh the head.

Leaving work early.

Walking in long grass.

Believing in all that might be!

Bird company.

Window shopping for things you could never buy.

Seeing green things.

That Friday feeling. . .

Paying attention to even the simplest moments.

I know Allah is kind and loves me.

What small pleasures make your day and bring the moment alive for you?

He’s gone

Today, I spent the day after work vacuum and sorting his room,

his closet and picked up the many things he left lying around on the bedroom floor

and found that he had left his favourite olive-green galabiya. . .

he’s gone

and I miss him so, he has a place right in the middle of my heart. . .

ahh, my (not-so) little bro!

Mercy rain

It has been raining almost every evening here.

It is pouring heavily outside and it’s very cold!

I am listening intently as the rain falls onto the already rain-soaked ground

I want to be with the clouds, submitting to Lord’s Greatness!

Would you be so kind to pray for me?

I don’t know if I’m the only one who feels like this.

I seriously doubt it, but I love receiving post! I tell all my friends that if they want me to feel happy and put a smile on my face, then that’s the way. I do love modern means of communication but post is the best!

And I actually received one today : )

It was a small package from a close friend of mine currently studying in Japan. We were friends since we were in our mothers womb. She sent me a special gift (japanese silk purse, a beauty!) with a small post-it note attached.

There was message,

“May Allah ease everything for both of you, ameen”

I thank you for your DUA rabiy dearest! I ask Allah to grant you serenity of the heart and soul and bring yours forth soonest possible, ameen.

Last ten nights

•September 25, 2008 • Leave a Comment

The last ten nights, Subhanallah Ramadan is almost over, have we been forgiven?

Will we be among those who enter Jannah without hisaab?

Have I perfected my prayers yet?

Is my heart pure yet?

Do my actions reflect my heart?

Is Allah pleased with me?

How much time have I wasted?

Will my heart remain the same after Ramadan?

Can I do something to get closer to Al Kareem?

Am I sincere in my prayers and duaas?

Have I made duaa for everyone I know?

Do I show mercy?

Have I prayed for our Ummah?

Is my recitation correct?

Will I be among the lucky who drink from the hands of RasulAllah from his fountain?

Am I honest when I speak?

Have I fulfilled my promises?

Do I ask for enough forgiveness?

Am I kind to my family? Are they pleased with me?

Do I show mercy toward my loved ones? Have I told them that I love and appreciate them lately?

Have I listened enough or do I talk too much?

How can I be from those described in Surat Mu’minoon?

Do I love and put Allah above all?

Am I ready to meet my Lord?

I pray your last 10 days are blessed that Allah graces us to achieve Layltul-Qadr

Allahuma Ballighna Ramadan..Allhuma Ballighna Layltul Qadr..Alluma Ameen.

Ramadhan Mubarak!
