Belief, faith, devotion is a powerful thing
Not only for the God Goddess
But towards any person or anything
As yesterday was Mahashivratri
I went to a Lord Shiv temple and the queue was atleast 3 km long
All the devotees flocked to submit themselves to Lord Shiva
And in that queue, I saw all kinds of people
Men, women, kids, old people, and more
What stuck with me is I saw old people
Taking stairs, walking using a stick
Holding the hands of their kids or grandkids
Telling them the stories of how they used to worship in temples in their childhood
The kids were happy listening to the stories from their grandparents
I was just a spectator because I didn’t know the local language
But I was able to see the excitement and contentment in their eyes
Throughout the period
And I was phasing in and out thinking that one day
I might be in their place
Going to a temple, holding a stick, walking with my kids and grandkids
Telling them the stories of yester-year
Telling them about Mahashivratri
The Shivgange treks
And life in general
But, to tell these stories, first I got to live those stories
I gotta live my life and then if given a chance, share it in the form of the stories
Till then, happy living and keep smiling!
P.S. : Mahashivratri is an auspicious event in Hinduism. The song pick for today is Chandrachooda. It is a bhajan for Lord Shiva.
