If It Wasn't For My Horse…

A Boolprop EPIC Challenge

Babies!

I wanna dedicate this post to boolprop.  Such a great community of simmers, I can’t believe it’s shutting down.  I’ll definitely be signing up for the new forums when it’s set up and encourage everyone to do so also.  Thank you for everything Rhea and all the other great people who made boolprop such a success over the years!

Welcome back to gardening with Calvin!  Remember plants grow extra fast if you only garden in your cowprint undies.  It is a fact.

Holley finally clues in about the pregnancy.

Since Holley is pregnant and Hazelnut is also pregnant there isn’t much I can do racing wise at the moment.  Surprisingly there isn’t much else to do at the home lot so Holley is desperate for activities.  You know it’s bad when you’re thinking “Yes!  The toilet got dirty, now I have something to do!

She’s not perving on her husband while he has sexy bath time, she’s upgrading the toilet!

Calvin came with a maxed out writing skill and constantly rolls wishes to write books.  Since computers aren’t allowed I figured he was screwed but then I remembered the scribble pad mod someone made!  Technology free!  Now Calvin is free to write all the smut he wants, he’s currently writing one called “Sexy Time Barn.”  It’s gonna be a big hit I can already tell.

Occasionally he has to take a break to get that fun meter up.  It’s really a win/win situation though cause it counts as research for his novels!

Yup, that was very inspirational!  Calvin already has ideas for his next book!

Holley is super supportive and reads all of Calvin’s books!  Of course this usually leads to a whole lot more “research” which of course leads to a lot more novels, it’s a never-ending cycle of win!

Calvin is seriously the cutest thing ever!  He doesn’t mind hanging his junk out for everyone to see while he gardens but he’s terrified of the dark.  It’s not even that dark out and he’s scared anyway!  So cute, I could just eat him right up.

Not much to do while pregnant but spend time with the horses.  Holley has upgraded everything on the lot that can be upgraded.  She could leave the lot to do something but I don’t think she can ride a horse while pregnant and she can’t run either, so getting anywhere would take her about a billion years.

“Fuck yeah, watermelons!”

Holley has a ton of watermelons in her inventory cause remember we’re going for the matriarchy points.  Using watermelons are allowed, just no mods that mess with baby gender.  Cross your fingers for a little girl!

“OMG did you see that rubber ducky they got for the tub?  It’s staring right at me with murder in its eyes.”

“I dunno about that but don’t you wish we had a dog?”

“Yeah sure. . .a dog would probably chew that duck right up.  Bye bye ducky.  We should totally get a dog.”

Yay for easy to fulfill wishes!  Most of the wishes everyone has locked in are horrible ones like befriending a random stray they met ONCE ever and will never see again.  So frustrating!

“Oh no!  I broke the toilet, Holley is gonna be so mad at me.  What do I do?”

Trust me, Holley is so bored she’s probably happy you broke the toilet.  The only reason she might be upset with you is the fact that you’re fully clothed.  What’s up with that?

Hazelnut gave birth to her foal in the middle of the night in the pitch black barn.  It’s hard to tell here but the foal looks pretty much exactly like Hazelnut.  Fail!  Hazelnut is super adorable and I love her but I was hoping for more of a mix.

Holley also goes into labor!

That look on Holley’s face is priceless.  It says “I wasn’t panicked before but after seeing you freak out now I am!”

“What if a thief steals the baby?”

Well considering the baby is still in your wife at this point. . .I think you’re safe.

It’s a girl!  Woo, the matriarchy lives another generation!

Randomized the traits, not too bad!  I love excitable sims!

Third person means third room, so I split off a section of the upstairs to make a nursery.

Here is a picture of Mocha in the daylight.

Mocha is a boy but luckily the pet legacy part doesn’t count toward the matriarchy rule.

It looks like Hazelnut wants another foal!  I checked with Styxlady to make sure more animals are allowed and she said sims are the only ones limited to one kid per generation.  Hmm, maybe I should give Hazelnut and Cinnamon another one, what do you guys think?

Holley can start riding again but Hazelnut needs to stay near her foal so it’s Cinnamon’s time to shine!  Obviously Holley is rusty at this horse riding stuff.

Calvin is a good daddy.  🙂

Holley got a wish to eat pancakes while she was pregnant and I of course had to lock it in.  At first I thought to myself great there goes another slot taken up with a wish she can never do ’cause I can’t have a fridge till someone tops their career.  (Topping the gardening career is damn near impossible and it’s looking similar for the jockey career.)  Then I realized that I could just go to someone else’s house to make them!

I quickly bought her the “inappropriate but in a good way” perk and sent her to the kitchen!  I’m too smart for you game, you can’t trick me!

We got a horse gnome to keep Calvin company while he gardens.

“I can has foods?”

We also got a puppy!  This adorable little fellow is Greg, I adopted him from my friend Avanis who writes the awesome Seastrider 100 baby challenge.  Thanks Avanis!

Oh gosh, he’s just too cute!  I put his bed and toys in the nursery since he’s mostly going to be Tabby’s dog but I had to move it all down to the barn for now when I realized the poor guy couldn’t use the stairs yet.  I didn’t want him to learn that pissing in the house was acceptable so for now he’s gotta live downstairs where he has access to the outdoors!

So close!  Holley has had the wish to win an advanced racing competition locked in since before she got pregnant.  At least she got some money toward her career.

Birthday time for little Tabby!

She’s so adorable!  When I play tested this challenge Calvin and Holley had a pink haired girl.  The first natural-born pink haired child I have ever seen in all my years of simming!  I was prepared to be all disappointed if this Tabitha wasn’t pink haired but she’s just so damn cute I can’t be.

It doesn’t even look like she’s gonna get that huge nose Calvin has, though her lips look like they might end up being sorta funky.

Toddler spam!

I can’t help it, she’s so pretty.  🙂   That’s it for this time!  Tune in next time for more toddler and puppy cuteness and maybe even another foal!

Chasing Calvin

My traumatized simself and this pervy mail lady would like to welcome you back to the blog!  I find it amusing that the very first time Holley ever used the tub this happened.  After she flipped out at the mail lady and shooed her off the lot she tried to take another bath only to be interrupted by the paperboy.  She’s so embarrassed now that she might never take another bath again.

To make matters worse the mail lady brought bills and Holley is really short on cash right now.  We need to move Calvin in pronto and hope he brings some money!

Gotta get Hazelnut ready to go riding!  Gotta clean those hooves and run a brush over her, maybe even sneak her a carrot while she’s at it! 🙂

Yay, that carrot pushed us over the edge and we became besties!  Which is awesome ’cause we both had a wish for it.

A quick glance over at Calvin’s house shows us that he is out at the moment, so Holley saddles up Hazelnut and trots around town looking for him.  Stalking is fun, kids!  After a few minutes of this and still not finding Calvin I check his house again and it says he’s home!  Quick gallop to his house!

Well, shit.  It took us hours to get almost to his house and when we were almost there Calvin passes us in his car.  Cars aren’t allowed Calvin!  Stupid townies.  Follow his car I guess.

Success!  He went to the art gallery to admire these towels I guess.  That’s not weird at all.  Well, I guess it’s just about as weird as following a guy on your horse all day.

Holley did about three interactions with Calvin before he ran off to work.  Are you kidding me???

Fine, while Calvin is doing his job (he works part-time at the cemetary) Holley and Hazelnut will enter their first race together!

Well, it could have gone worse.  Neither Holley nor Hazelnut have a very high riding skill yet.  We even won a little prize money for this, 40 or 50 dollars I think.

After the race Holley headed over to Calvin’s house and started working on winning him over.  He agreed to let Holley stay the night, score!  Now if I don’t manage to get him tonight I can always try again in the morning.

Calvin cooked her breakfast!  Since I’m doing the mini challenge for this generation Holley doesn’t have a fridge yet, so this is the first real cooked food she’s ever had.

Holley decides to go thank Calvin for the delicious waffles.  The fact that he stayed up all night long and just now went to bed didn’t seem to matter much to her, she just woke him up.

“Hey, I just wanted to thank you for. . . ”

I think she just swallowed her tongue.

Hold on a sec guys, Calvin is going to help her find it.  It might take a few minutes.

Whew, found it!

The sexy cow print man panties melted Holley’s brain a bit and she is ready to just jump right into some risky woohoo with Calvin.

Wait, what?  You are home. . .

Funny story time.  I noticed when Holley came over last night that Calvin had two children living with him.  They had his last name and I was worried he had kids somehow, so I used master controller to look at his family tree.  Turns out they are his brother and sister and their parents are dead, so Calvin takes care of them now.  I didn’t want to add two random kids to my house when I married Calvin and I know you can’t leave children alone in a house so I decided I would add another adult to their house to stay with the kids after I steal Calvin.

Following this so far?  OK, good.  So I found a nice lady who lived alone and merged her into their household that night.  I felt a little bad that I was going to such lengths to separate Calvin from his only living family.  So that brings us to the present and apparently Calvin was just waiting for someone else to take care of those kids cause he moved out on his own!  WTF Calvin?  I don’t feel bad about stealing him from his family now.

Stalker Holley followed him down the road, this is his new house I guess.  Before he could get anymore weird ideas I decided that enough was enough and invited him to my house.

The game forced me to use a car! 😦  I guess you can’t use the “invite over” option without this happening.  Good to know.  Although if you invite people to move in with you the same thing happens.  (The game forces them to drive to their new house.)

“Look, I’m not going to spend another whole day chasing your ass around tomorrow so let’s get hitched right now.”

“OMG YAY!”

I knew he would be easy!  Silly family-oriented sims!

“Gee Holley, I’m really tired. . .is this going to take much longer?”

Poor Calvin, I think he got about one hour of sleep the night before.

I just love him!  I think sim cowards are the most adorable things ever, so I don’t even count that as a bad trait.  His favorite food is cookies, so cute! ❤

I didn’t get a shot of it but I used the money Calvin brought in (about $7,000 cause he had a laptop and a crappy car that I had to sell) to build them a loft bedroom in the barn.  They went up and consummated their marriage.  No try for baby yet, I’m going to wait till they both want kids to do that.  I guess they did it right cause Calvin needed a nap afterward. 🙂

Uh…thanks Hazelnut!  I sold it for $1,200 so it was a really thoughtful gift.  I just wonder how Hazelnut bought it, how she wrote a note to go with it, and how she managed to mail it all while being a horse.  Stranger things have happened I guess.

Some random neighbor that neither of us know sent this wildly inappropriate painting as a wedding gift.  It only sells for about 20 bucks though and Calvin begged me not to sell it so I hung it up in the loft.

Calvin made sure to send a thank you note to the nice neighbor that sent him that painting.  Holley just rolled her eyes and went to another race.

We won!!!

Two racing competitions so far and we managed our first win, not bad.  It was only a beginners racing competition but that’s fine. 🙂

Look at the trophy Holley got!  Of course after she won she rolled the wish to win 5 races.  That’s going to get annoying ’cause I have to lock it in and I bet as soon as she does that one she is going to wish for 10.

While Holley was out racing Calvin did two things.  First he started working on the garden.  He’s going to be a gardener!

Second, he wished to have a child.  I’ll give it a few days probably to see if Holley will wish for one too.  His lifetime wish is surrounded by family but since we can only have one child per gen I’ll probably change it later when he has enough points.  (I know there are extra points if you don’t use any LTH points ever but I just can’t do that one, I need a motive mobile and a collection helper too much!)

Who is this handsome fellow?  If you look at the standings for the last race this was the horse that came in second.  His name was Roamer but we renamed him Cinnamon Steele after we bought him.  Hopefully Hazelnut likes him!

He was a little more expensive than some of the other horses cause he was really nice stats, but he was worth it!

Oh, look what Holley rolled!

It took a few rounds, but we finally got a lullaby!

I wouldn’t be comfortable taking a bath in a yard full of horses, but it really doesn’t seem to bother Holley.

Holley took the day off racing because she wasn’t feeling so well, so Hazelnut and Cinnamon got a chance to bond a little.

“I take it back, I don’t want a kid if I have to be this sick!”

Too late sweetie!  Don’t worry though, you only have to do it once.

You probably can’t tell what this even is but trust me it’s better that way.  Hazelnut and Cinnamon are having some sexy times right now, the hay is flying everywhere!  That’s where I’m going to leave you.  Next time we will have a baby for sure!  Maybe a foal too?  Tune in next time to find out!

An Epic Start

Hey, welcome to my new blog!  Now you might be thinking “Hey shouldn’t the title of this blog be capitalized?”  If you are thinking that then you just might be as obsessive about grammar as my husband is.  I assure you that I DID capitalize it but this theme apparently has some sort of war with capital letters and killed them all somewhere along the way.  The theme is pretty though so it wins the war, deal with it.  Has my rambling scared you off yet?  Hello?  I’m going to pretend you’re all just wandering over to the about page to check out the rules.  It’s OK, I’ll wait.

All done?  That’s a lot of rules, huh?  I’m going to try to follow as many of them as I can!  Of course that might lead to random bouts of cursing and frustration with my sims and the game in general, but I figure that happens even when I’m not trying to follow a bunch of rules so it will be fine.  Are you sick of me talking yet?  I’ll stop now.  Well OK, that’s a lie.  I’m not going to stop, but I will at least add pictures in between all the word vomit for you to look at.

This adorable girl is my simself!  Before you ask, no I don’t look like that in real life.  Why would I want to make my fantasy self look like my real self???  Anyway, cute and awesome me is named Holley Steele and she’s posing with her adorable horse, Hazelnut.  Yes, my real name is Holley and yes, I know it’s spelled all funky with that e in there.  What can I say?  My dad named me after a carburetor, it could have been worse.

Here’s a good shot of what we have to work with.  The challenge said I could only have one room per person but it didn’t say how *big* that room had to be so. . giant barn go!  I figure my simself loves her horse more than she wants to live in a house anyway.  You can see that the house barn is made entirely of wood as per the rules and there is clearly a pond and a garden on the lot.  My toilet and tub are outside so all my neighbors, who don’t know about the challenge and have indoor plumbing themselves, can watch me pee and bathe.  How embarrassing.

Inside shot of my awesome barn.  Dirt floor?  Check!  Only candles for lighting?  Check!  If you haven’t been able to tell yet Holley’s favorite color is brown.  I tend to go a little overboard when it comes to decorating and always end up with my rooms and houses being extremely monotone.  Hope you guys like seeing brown. . .

I changed my simself’s traits to suit this challenge cause her normal ones are just awful for this.  (She usually is a shy, bookworm, animal lover, light sleeper who hates the outdoors.) I picked brown as her favorite color but heck if I can remember picking that music or food choices.  Holley usually loves electronica and hamburgers, I guess I thought sandwiches and indie fit the challenge more?  I honestly don’t remember.

The rules specify that in addition to cooking, gardening or fishing a female founder may race and breed horses for a living.  Perfect time to try out the new lifetime wish!  I’ve never done this yet and have only participated in one single race ever since pets came out and I managed to get very last place in that race. . . so wish me luck.

First order of business, getting to know Hazelnut!  I’m doing the no wish left behind challenge which means I have to lock in every wish (as long as it doesn’t break any rules for the gen I’m on) and try to do them as soon as I can.  The first wish both Holley and Hazelnut rolled up was to become friends with each other, aww!  A few hand sniffings, hugs, neck rubs and several sim hours later and we are friends!

Time to gather my courage and get on this horse!  Luckily Hazelnut loves me to pieces and didn’t do anything awful like stomp my head in.

Hazelnut is really slow!  I guess it’s cause we both suck at riding right now but it takes forever getting anywhere with her.  No cars allowed though so for now it’s ride or walk.

We rode down to the grocery store where I bought lots of carrots and a few other odds and ends to start my own garden.  I sent Hazelnut home and headed on over to the library to read a book about riding.

I don’t know why she wanted to read about riding when she has a horse and loves the outdoors and could have just ridden Hazelnut more to learn. . . I’m pretty dumb like that I guess.

I’m glad she wanted to go to the library though, cause look who showed up!  Now you might not recognize him cause this town is so new and also cause I already gave him a makeover.  I was lucky enough to play test this challenge for a few weeks and this guy was the husband Holley picked up in that first file!  His name is Calvin and even though he has a huge nose and comes with a freaky pedo mustache and horrible outfit, I just love him and am going to snatch him up again!  Besides I took away his awful mustache and gave him a makeover so it’s all good.  Can’t do anything about that nose though.

Of course this is a new file and Calvin doesn’t know that him and Holley are meant to be together.  So he looks a little worried when she tosses down the book she was reading and practically knocked a few people down as she made a beeline right for him.  Go get him Holley!  Man, it’s really awkward using my own name like this.  Too late now I guess.

“So, are you married?”

Smooth.  Very first words out of your mouth to a total stranger.  At least he isn’t offended by the question.  He gives her an odd look but lets her know that he is single!

“What’s your sign, cutie?”

He seems to be getting pretty uncomfortable with her questioning until he discovers that they are compatible signs.  Score!  Of course I already knew they were compatible cause I’m a creepy stalker person but he doesn’t have to know that.

“Haha, you know what you should do?  Just as a goof you should totally marry me and move into my house.  Wouldn’t that be funny?  I already have a ring, see?  Holley decided when she made me in CAS that she might as well add a wedding ring right off the bat, she’s lazy like that.”

“Aren’t you Holley?”

“Yeah but I meant other Holley.  There are two of us, you’ll see.”

It’s at this point that Calvin should probably just turn around and run.  It’s also at this point that I’m really regretting naming my character after myself, it’s getting kinda weird.

OMG, Holley, lay off the whole “marry me and move in” stuff, you’re scaring him!  We’re not even friends with him yet!

Calvin has a good sense of humor so he can’t resist making silly faces back at Holley even though I’m pretty sure he’s extremely confused and worried at this point.

“Wanna see an awesome trick?”

She then proceeds to deep throat several carrots while Calvin just blushes and tries to look anywhere else.  Shit, this blog just got perverted and creepy all of a sudden.

I’m determined to make Calvin mine before allowing him to go home but I’m starting to get worried he will leave cause he’s hungry.  So I did what anyone would do and had Holley offer him a carrot.

He liked it!  He claims he likes it cause he loves cooking but I dunno after the show Holley just put on for him.  He says he isn’t going to accept it cause he doesn’t know me well enough but he takes it anyway.  Time to start the flirting!

“There is no point in resisting really, you’re going to end up with me no matter what.”

Uh that is less “romantic” and more “stalker.”  Maybe try to tone it down a little?

“I mean, uh. . .you’re really cute!”

One single flirt into the relationship and Holley is a goner.  It’s actually kinda cute.

He seems to really like her now!  She finds out that he’s family oriented, so he will probably be really easy to snag.  Those family people want to get married, right?

He agrees to be her boyfriend!  At this point though he’s constantly complaining about how hungry (he didn’t eat our carrot!) and sleepy he is and I don’t think I have enough time to get them hitched tonight.  Besides Holley has to walk all the way home still and she’s getting sleepy too.

“Good night Calvin!  Come over tomorrow and we can get married!”

“Wait, what???”

It’s happening buddy.

Before Calvin can stop to think about what just went down Holley starts the long run home.  The no cars thing is fun but I can tell it’s going to get old fast.

I’m gonna end here, we had a pretty productive first day!  Next time we’ll see if I can track Calvin down (with no cars or phones remember!) and force him to marry me!
