It's 2010, and I am creating my first Blog entry. I always seem to get on board with things late, after everybody else that I know has grasped on to them. I didn't get my first Sony PlayStation until the PS2 came out. By then the PS1 was affordable. The same is true when I upgraded to the PS2, the PS3 was flying off the shelves. The PlayStation 3 has been out for over 3 years now and I still enjoy my PS2. Come to think of it I have always been a late bloomer. Honestly I was still mostly a little kid when I graduated High School and went promptly in to the US Navy. I never had to shave before they made it a daily occurrence in boot camp. Baby faced, underweight, and no muscle tone to speak of, I was not what Uncle Sam was looking for in a recruiting poster.
It wasn't until I left the Navy, and moved back to Boulder, that I tasted a decent beer, and was hooked. We were at the Oasis Brewery, on Canyon Blvd. I had the Scarab Red. Finally a beer with flavor, color, body and aroma. There would be no more choking down Bud Light, or MGD for me. Even today, I would rather go with out than buy any watered down American style Lager. That said, I won't turn up my nose to a frosty cold one while fishing or at a neighbors cook out. That is just plain bad manners. Since then I have tried hundreds of world brews. Most I would drink again, very few were so bad I could hardly force it down. and I can think of only 2 which I poured down the drain.
I seem to always get a late start with the milestones of life. I was almost 20 when I graduated High School, started College at 26. In my 30's I began playing hockey, got married, had kids and bought a house. My younger brother, jokingly my big brother, in his 20's was in College, married had kids, bought a house and earned his degree in some kind of computer something programming and management, it doesn't matter.
The point is in the game of life, I seem to move at my own pace. In fact I have returned to college in hopes of getting this piece of paper before I'm 42. and now I am starting to Blog, is that really a verb? We will see how it goes. Give me 10 years I may start Tweeting?
