PANEL 1: Location: TIERRA Description: A fleet of ships in silhouette speed toward the viewer, streaks of stars indicate FTL flight.\ NARRATION: It is of historical note that the Nyx built exactly 72 ships for their new fleet. This was not an accident. In. Nyxian mathematics, 72 carries a quasi-numinous weight. PANEL 2: The NYX ships speed from left to right, 4 ships indicating a large fleet. Stars streak behind them as they continue in FTL flight. NARRATION: They chose 72 because it reflects the internal harmonics of an eight-dimensional structure. PANEL 3: Close up on one ship, angled toward the viewer, stars streaking behind them. NARRATION: They chose 72 because it counts every rotation of an ideal form that preserves identity. They chose 72 because it arises naturally in the mathematics of continuous symmtry. PANEL 4: 14 of the 72 ships are shown, no longer in flight, all firing M-waves from their cannons at one target (off panel). NARRATION: And so it was that 72 Nyxian ships unpinched space just past the Lagrance Point for Tierra. And fired 72 next-generation M-Wave cannons. PANEL 5: Close up on the ring of La Invencible being rained down with M-waves. NARRATION: Which struck presicely at 72 points around a Class-9 Super Heavy Ring. PANEL 6: A full view of La Invencible, it’s ring completely blown to bits. Shadows of other hits around the entire ship. NARRATION: Which meant La Invencible would never again pinch space. ——— Want to read the full story? This week’s ComicLab Podcast is live!

Pals! Every week my cartooning pal Brad Guigar and I fire up the mics to talk about comics. It’s half shop talk, half how-to, and half friendship. That’s right: WE SQUEEZED IN THREE HALVES. It’s tips and tricks and all the joys of cartooning as a pro!

TITLE: Why don’t you do MORE?!?

comiclabpodcast.com

Apple Podcasts: https://buff.ly/pmzb68x

Are Brad and Dave not doing enough? A listener question sparks a candid conversation about creative bandwidth, sustainability, and why “doing more” isn’t always the smart — or sustainable — choice. The episode then dives into one of the hardest challenges in humor writing: How to judge your own work when readers don’t get the joke. How much confusion is normal, when feedback matters, and how to balance ego with humility without losing your voice.

TITLE: Wobbly Legs

We always advise having “many legs under your table.” In other words, comic creators should have many sources of revenue. If one is threatened, the others can keep the business aloft. So it’s important, from time to time, to check for wobbly legs! What are the sources of comics income that are currently vulnerable? ALSO: What’s the difference between Design and Style?
