Assembling Rolife’s Floral Corner Book Nook

Not too long ago, I decided to try my hand at my very first model kit.  Mother Duck and I enjoy miniatures, particularly dollhouses, but we are more likely to decorate these dollhouses rather than actually build them.  (My parents did build one dollhouse a long time ago, but it was damaged during our first move across the country.)  Eager to try something new, I ended up buying one of Rolife’s Book Nooks, which are these little enclosed scenes you can easily display between your books on a shelf.  I chose this because the enclosed nature of it made it less likely to collect dust or get assaulted by our feisty cats.  (Even so, I now really wish I had purchased Becka’s Bakery instead.  All those tiny treats look so dang cute!)  I ended up picking Floral Corner because of the presence of a little cat situated near the front of the diorama, despite the 3.5 out of 5-star difficulty rating.

Boxville: Demo Review

Boxville is a point-and-click puzzle game about sentient cans inhabiting a cardboard city.  No one speaks, but rather, communicates completely through drawings.  I’ve played plenty of games like this, whether it be When the Past Was Around or The Almost Gone, where you wander around, gather items to use in other locations, and solve puzzles.  And yet, for whatever reason, I really struggled with this demo.  Part of the issue arose from my confusion over where the inventory was (you need to hover over the top left corner of the screen), though I guess the game does show you this the first time you obtain an item.  I must have just missed it.

The Duck Dreams of an Empty Office, a Weird Mall, Kittens, and Candy

The night of July 8, 2025, I had a whole bunch of random dreams.  It started with me working in this office, but most of the time, none of my fellow coworkers were there.  There was basically this section with cubicles and open space with tables separated from this “hallway” by a partition, and at the end of this “hallway” was the boss’s office and maybe a few other offices.  The place was a bit dark, but I would sit at this one round table and work on my computer.  At one point, this guy showed up who was an old coworker of mine, but in the dream, he was my brother.  He was worried about me working in this office alone, but I said I wasn’t too concerned.  Though it eventually occurred to me that, since my coworkers are almost never here, I may as well work wherever I want.  So after my “brother” left, I decided to find another place in the building, a quiet and comfortable spot, to work that would be more pleasant.

The Blog is 15 Years Old!

My blog has aged another year, and for those who still read this dusty, old thing, you may have noticed some changes.  I have been posting to this blog a bit less in recent months, with only a few more gaming posts left before all of them will be strictly relegated to the far more successful Virtual Bastion.  Life is still going through some large changes, and those changes are most definitely affecting the blog, as well.  There’s a good chance that weekly Friday posts will become far more sporadic, though I do enjoy using this blog as a digital dream journal.  I have some pretty wild dreams, and I like writing them down to look back on later.  And who knows, maybe as life changes, I’ll have other good updates to post, as well.

Drowning: Demo Review

Drowning is a short game about a teenage boy struggling with depression.  The demo lasts about 15 minutes, and the entire time is spent walking along a path in the forest while text appears.  I know the term “walking simulator” can be overused, but there are few games that really illustrate the nickname better than this one.  And it wouldn’t be so bad if the walking speed wasn’t so slow and if the story was more interesting.

The Duck Dreams About Being Pursued by Ennard from FNAF

I’ve been playing FNAF: Ultimate Custom Night lately, which spawned a dream the night of May 20, 2025.  I was in this place that was a mix of the UCN office and FNAF 4.  You know how, in FNAF 4, there is a bedroom with a hallway on either side?  And then, there must be some room we never see at the end of those two hallways.  Well, the UCN office was on the other end of the house where the two hallways meet up, if that makes sense.  I was doing my best to keep the animatronics out, but Ennard crawled out of the vent into the office.  So I started running down the hallway, and Ennard followed casually along behind, in no hurry to catch up.  I was going to run into the bedroom at the end of the hallway and lock the door, but I knew it wouldn’t matter because Ennard could easily break down the door.

I barely remember my death, but I know I died in some way, only to respawn in the office.  And so the night began again, and I had to fend off animatronics once more.  Somehow, people were watching me, as if this was merely some sort of game and not a life-or-death situation.  I yelled at the people to be quiet, as they were talking loudly and making it hard for me to hear if anything was in the vent.  The dream, fortunately, ended before any more animatronics got in my office, but I won’t soon forget being slowly pursued by the horrifying tangle of wires known as Ennard, so casual about his chase because he knew his victory was guaranteed.  Shudder…

FNAF Ultimate Custom Night Playthrough on Virtual Bastion

FNAF Ultimate Custom Night has us squaring off against a grand total of 50 animatronics spread across the first 6 FNAF games.  This no-commentary series has the Duck earning high scores in roughly 700-point intervals so that we can unlock the various Bear of Vengeance and Toy Chica: The High School Years cutscenes.

FNAF: It’s Past Your Bedtime

Having animatronics watch over children is probably not a good idea…

I’ve been slowly working on this picture for a couple of months, featuring Moon from Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach in the Superstar Daycare.  Although I’d like to imagine that he was normally perfectly gentle with the children under his care, the same could not be said of his behavior after he was infected by the Glitchtrap virus…  This is one of the most detailed pictures I’ve ever done!  That one poor girl better get back to sleep, or else Moon will not be pleased…

The Duck Dreams of a Benevolent Funtime Freddy Teaming Up with Jack-O-Moon

Recently, I’ve been catching up on most of the Five Nights at Freddy’s books by listening to people read or summarize them on Youtube.  One of the most recent was Count the Ways, which features Funtime Freddy from Sister Location.  Plus, I recently saw some fanart of Jack-O-Moon while browsing Youtube, which is probably what led to some recent dreams.  Anyway, the night of May 5, 2025, I had two interesting dreams, but unfortunately, I only really remember the second one.  All I can remember about the first one was that it featured Funtime Freddy and Cassie, though fear not, as Freddy didn’t seem to have any intentions of, you know, doing what he does best.  (Cough, murdering people, cough.)
