I can’t believe it has been over 2 years since I visited my own blog. Today I felt like writing, so here I am. I was scrolling my Instagram feed for reviews on a pattern I’m working on, and there were plenty of pictures but only a couple of reviews. This was a quick reminder why I kept this blog so here is my review for Simplicity 9702.

I sewed this dress back in April; I chose view C and I chose cut size 8. The instructions were easy to follow and the dress came together fairly quickly. Well, I suppose depending on your ability to gather fabric. Anyways, this dress is so good I already made a second one!

For my first version I chose this hot pink crinkle rayon. I bought this fabric years ago in the Los Angeles Fashion District. I didn’t feel the first tier added anything to the design so I decided to omit it. This fabric gathers easily but hey, why add unnecessary work? The sleeves, in my opinion, is what makes this dress special.

For my second dress I chose View A with short sleeves. I used this silky crepe I bought from fabric.com a few years ago. Beautiful fabric but it’s not great for gathering, I really had to forget about my perfectionist complex and just let it go. I can say I did the best I could without pulling my hair out. Overall this is a great pattern, easy to sew and fun to wear! Highly recommended by me 10/10!
