Trump at UN. “A pugilistic and pugnacious President peppering his presentation with a lot of little pills of poison.”

So the ABC reporter characterised it. Even the abbreviated clips I have endured were so awe-inspiringly stupid, and so revoltingly vain, and had such titanic levels of Dunning-Krueger’s – that like Dobby from Harry Potter – I felt compelled to ‘iron my hands’ just to get through it!

Trump rambled at the UN that:-

* their climate predictions will be wrong because they have ‘stupid people’ working in climate science (ha ha ha – irony much!!?),

* he ended 7 wars. (Nurse! Nurse! He’s out of bed again!)

* the EU should adopt the SAME immigration tactics as Trump.

* international immigration is their fault and because of it all the other countries in the world are ‘going to hell’. (What kind of international statesman SAYS that to the UN!?)

* Trump is SO much better than Joe Biden! (Relevance at the UN? Do you know where you are?)

* he was a great real estate developer and even looked at redeveloping the UN site.  (Who cares? Relevance? Oh yeah – his NPD cares! The world might forget how utterly fantabulous Trump is – so he’d better toot his own trumpet at us all! He needs his narcissistic supply and all that.)

As Snape said after peering into Harry Potter’s mind – “I may vomit.”

MAGA politicians talking about ‘these people’.

😢”THESE people.” “THEY did it.” “THEY are coming to get us!”
“We are at WAR with THEM!” 😭

Thanks MAGA politicians and newsreaders. 😭
Way to turn down the temperature!

ABC reporter Matt Bevan compares this to when the LEFT’s celebrity Martin Luther King was assassinated. What did RFK say? Did he pour fuel on the fire? His speech is included. The way he spoke of his own brother’s assassination … 😭

Compare THAT speech to the incendiary rhetoric today – and it might hint at a better way – at how previous generations thought Statesmen and women should behave. How far our culture has drifted from earlier ideals. (In some areas. We also had MASSIVE blind spots back then as well.)

Where is the effort to calm things down? To admit both sides have their disturbed, isolated, lone-wolf assassins that do not represent their party or majority of members? Where is the language about ALL of us suffering when these things happen?

But because I’m politically left of centre, and like to TALK about lefty subjects like healthcare and the climate – I somehow share in the guilt of SHOOTING Charlie Kirk dead! Yet evidence suggests the shooter was a socially isolated, registered Republican. Planet America suggests Tyler Robinson was a FAR-right crazy – way outside even MAGA’s political range.

THEN Bevan covers the Republican’s plans to be carried out ‘In Charlie’s name.” Wow!

I’ve tried to contact someone who accused me of celebrating Kirk’s assassination – and has ghosted me. I thought we were friends? I thought he understood I would never say something like that? I’m collateral damage in this MAGA crusade. If that’s happening here in Australia – how toxic must it be in the States?

AUKUS looking more dubious

Does anyone actually think America’s manufacturing sector is going to come ROARING back as Trump’s tariffs increase the cost of cheap supplies from overseas? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Personally I think Australia should not get caught up in the sunk cost fallacy – and just give America the $1.3 billion we’ve sunk into AUKUS and run! As the Associated Press says:

The review comes as the Trump administration works to rebalance its global security concerns while struggling with a hollowed-out industrial base that has hamstrung U.S. capabilities to build enough warships. The review is being led by Elbridge Colby, the No. 3 Pentagon official, who has expressed skepticism about the partnership.

“If we can produce the attack submarines in sufficient number and sufficient speed, then great. But if we can’t, that becomes a very difficult problem,” Colby said during his confirmation hearing in March. “This is getting back to restoring our defense industrial capacity so that we don’t have to face these awful choices but rather can be in a position where we can produce not only for ourselves, but for our allies.”

I’m not sure I want to follow Trump into any war he starts. I don’t want our nation decimated because of his NPD! I’m not sure the last few wars we’ve followed America into have been legal and in Australia’s interests. I’m not sure I want to be a part of the American Empire any more. Might is not always right. Friends, yes. Allies even. But a locked-in vassal state? No thanks. Not with that buffoon in charge!

The Pentagon is having trouble scaling up their industry to build their own subs – let alone ours. With Trump’s tariffs, and much higher import costs – their industry might even contract – let alone expand to meet their own orders! (FORGET ours. Face it – we’ve lost that $1.3 billion.)

Australia needs a Parliamentary enquiry into AUKUS. Rather than diplomats deciding defence deals behind closed doors – how about a little democracy? How about opening it up for some debate? I did not know about the other options until I heard some discussions on the “Democracy Sausage” podcast. I don’t think the average Aussie politician knows what else is possible.

If we decide we’re in the American Empire – we need nuclear subs. They just go the distance.

If – on the other hand – we decide we’re an AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE force – how about we buy DEFENCE SUBS?

They could be about half the price – like the Spanish S-80. In fact – we might be able to buy the plans off the Spanish – or even develop and build our own. These Bioethanol Fuel Cell subs can stay underwater for a month. They’re also a bit stealthier than the American nuclear sub – as they do not leave the same thermal wake in the water.

And we could put Adelaide and other ports back to work!

Finally, I also have concerns about the future nuclear subs we could be building with the UK (in the 2040’s?) These monsters are huge. Four Corners raised issues with their size preventing us negotiating some of the shallower waters we might need to patrol.

This whole article is great – and has some colourful characters. But I’ve timed it to the “Too big” section if you just want to jump straight to that future issue. (Otherwise – just drag back to the beginning – you know how to YouTube.)

This video about the Sydney March for Humanity made me cry

For context – the last few weeks have been rough on my personally. I’ve had an osteoporosis diagnosis, then Influenza A and RSV, then last Thursday night Kidney Stones! OOOUCH!

But the point of this post is RSV kept me from going to the Sydney Habour Bridge “March for Humanity”. I wish I had been there!

Being a big fan of Hunger Games – and I guess so run down in real life – this video match-up made me cry! Soppy – I know – having the horror of war dramatized by the whole YA Dystopian Sci-Fi song of “Hanging Tree.” Just letting you all know where I’m at.

How to replace the ‘drum beat’ of the grid?

Ever hear the one about how we cannot go 100% renewables because the grid needs the timing ‘drum beat’ of the great big spinning turbines that create the AC sine wave? Yet in South Australia – the “Tesla big battery” supplies about 15% of their “drum beat.” So how do they do that then?
