A few of my blogging friends write about what book they’re reading at the moment so I thought I’d jump on the band wagon…
So far this year I have read:
- The Guardians: Book One of the Restoration Series – Christopher Williams
- Ossendar: Book Two of the Restoration Series
- Valley of the Ancients: Book Three of the Restoration Series
- Dragon Stones (Book one of the Dragon Stones Saga) – Kristian Alva
- Return of the Dragon Riders: Book Two of the Dragon Stone Saga
- BlackThorn (Chronicles of the Dark Sword) – DeWayne Kunkel
- Aethir (Chronicles of the Dark Sword)
- BlackThorn’s Doom (Chronicles of the Dark Sword)
- The Dragon-Child (Hyborean Dragons) – B.V. Larson
- Storm of Prophecy, Book I: Dark Awakening – Michael von Werner
- Storm of Prophecy, Book II: Pillar of Light
- Storm of Prophecy, Book III: Flames of Retribution, part 1
- Wasteland – Lynn Rush
- Century – Sarah Singleton
- The Diamond Throne: Book One of the Elenium – David & Leigh Eddings
- The Ruby Knight: Book Two of the Elenium
- The Sapphire Rose: Book Three of the Elenium
- Domes of Fire: Book One of the Tamuli
- The Shining Ones: Book Two of the Tamuli
Well I say I’ve read them all I’ve just started The Shining Ones.
Last year I read 72 books but I’m not going to bore you with listing all of them. I did look and I noticed I go through phases, mystery then murder then fantasy and so on… This year I seem to be in a fantasy mode.
1,2 & 3 – Christopher Williams
Thoroughly enjoyed the story line, the editor needs to be shot though which does ruin the whole reading process. I know that he’s mainly an author who releases Kindle books but surely if you’re going to bother releasing a book for people to buy you want to ensure words are spelt correctly and the grammar is correct.
4 & 5 – Kristian Alva
Again thoroughly enjoyed the story line, as suggested by other reviews it does start off very similar to Eragon but it does grow into more of a Tolkien style. Much better editing and both books together cost me just over £2!
6,7 & 8 – DeWayne Kunkel
Yet another good storyline but awful editing!
9 – B. V. Larson
Awful as it sounds I can’t remember much about this one… either I was reading it when I was in my brain dead, over worked state or it just wasn’t one that kept my attention… maybe when I’ve finished my David Eddings fetish I’ll give it another go.
10, 11 & 12 – Michael von Werner
Book 1 and 2 were brilliant, magic, zombies, monsters, dragons all in one book together, Book 3 went off in a dark tangent introducing a sexual element that really wasn’t needed. That said I am looking forward to the next one.
13 – Lynn Rush
This was one I jumped on having read a blog she did over on Victoria Writes page… I and do mean quite literally jumped on. I read the blog by the time I’d finished I’d already sent the book to my Kindle! I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a joy to read.
14 – Sarah Singleton
Sarah is the mother of my step children, she’s a very respected writer and I thought it was about time I read some of her stories. I must say I am glad I did! Really good book and I enjoyed it all the more because I could see who she’d used to inspire her characters….
15 – 19 – David & Leigh Eddings
Well, what can I say? Still a favourite of mine even though I first picked one up when I was a young 11 year old. Sadly even these have a few editing issues! But not enough to put me off, I’m just glad they’ve released them to Kindle. I loved the Belgariad series with Polgara and the rest, but when I was a hormonal pre-teen I would read of Sparhawk and dream of him coming to rescue me from my dull and dreary life.
