Let’s grab the great opportunity to join Computational Thinking for Educators Online course to get more information about Computational Thinking (CT) and learn about CT from educators from around the world by visiting this link:
This 3-hours workshop teaches students to create 3D sculptures using SCULPTRIS. It was held at STEM Center at Tech Mahindra, Cyberjaya. By the end of this workshop, students have to design Angry Bird.

Beaver Computational Thinking Competition was held from 1-10 October. The competition was organised by Bebras in collaboration with Mdec and KPM. Bebras is an international initiative whose aim is at promoting informatics and computational thinking among teachers, students and the public. Bebras has organised many online challenges in many countries. This competition was participated by students involved in a pilot programme named Digital Tech @ Schools. There are 15 tasks for each category that participants need to complete. The tasks are grouped under three levels of difficulty namely easy (A), medium (B) and hard (C). Participants were given 45 minutes to complete all the tasks.
In developing pupils’ computational thinking skills, I taught my students using Scratch Programme where they learned how to use the codes to make story animation. This lesson is part of Digital Tech @ School programme. In this programme, students have to undergo 6 lessons and complete a few projects. The final project is creating story animation.
The best 8 stories were chosen as the winners. The links to students’ story animation projects are as follows:
Scratch is one of the greatest tools in our lives. There are so many things that we can do using Scratch. Apart from creating games and animated stories, we can also make animated greeting cards. It is so easy to make greeting cards using Scratch as this programme provides tutorial for beginners.

Digital Tech @ Schools Pilot Programme is a programme where 24 schools have been selected based on several criteria to run a pilot programme developed by MDEC (Multimedia Development Corporation) in collaboration with Ministry of Education. This programme involves Standard 5 and Form 1 pupils from 11 primary schools and 13 secondary schools throughout Malaysia . This programme takes place in 6 months starting from August 2015 to February 2016. A few teachers being selected in this programme have undergone training sessions on Digital Compentency Standards (DCS) game’s instrument. These teachers are required to select one classroom and carry out 6 lessons to expose pupils to DCS game. DCS game is a tool where pupils are required to play an online computer game to assess their digital competency levels. In this programme, pupils are taught to use Scratch Programme to complete the tasks given. Basically, the approach used in this programme is gamification approach which provides pupils with a great learning experience where pupils learn by doing. This programme is a great effort to shift our education system from producing ‘ICT users’ to producing ‘ICT producers’.

Seminar 3i was held at Brickfields Asia College, PJ Campus on 19 and 20 September 2015. The seminar was free of charge and offered to teachers from all over Malaysia who are interested in learning about ICT in education. It was organized by Google. Many sessions, workshops and ‘unconferences’ were conducted by local teachers and education experts. The seminar was very beneficial to educators as it provides a learning experience to teachers participating in this seminar to learn about new techniques of teaching by incorporating the use of ICT in the classroom. There were also inspiring stories from some of the successful people namely Captain Mohammed Faiz Kamaludin and Dr. Amani Salim who shared their experiences being experts in their own fields.
Learning about creating innovative site using VLE Frog. This workshop was conducted by VLE Frog Admin from SK Bandar Rinching, Mohd Hanif Zaimar. I learned how to use Google Form.Learning how to create i-think maps (thinking maps) using Google slides and embed to VLE Frog site. This workshop was conducted by Khairul Anwar Sharin.
Other than that, I also learned creating a collaborative atmosphere with technology . The workshop was conducted by Nazira Roslee, an English teacher from SK Putrajaya Presint 9 (1). She shared with us a list of collaborative tools that educators can use in the classroom. The list of the tools is available at this website:
KL Converge 2015 was held in KLCC from 27 to 29 August 2015. It was a fun-filled event which exposed the public to the world’s latest achievements and opportunities in the music, film, gaming and Internet space. The theme for KL Converge 2015 is “Convergence and Digital Inclusion”. I found it really exciting and informative. As a visitor, I had the great opportunity to explore and learn more about digital content.
Here are some of the photos taken during the event:
There are many exhibition booths by various companies displaying their technologies and exhibiting their services.
The exhibitor is demonstrating and explaining to us how 3D printer works. You will be amazed by what it can do. It can make a 3D printed object from a digital file. Learn more about 3D printing by visiting this linkhttp://3dprinting.com/what-is-3d-printing/
The music will be played as you touch the fruits and vegetables.
There were also amazing activities for pupils to try out.
