Strategic Planning For Zakat Empowerment

INZAC 2025 Forum

“What should we do to improve our IT system?” asked Sheikh Imthathaau during the forum’s Q&A session.

“It should begin with a clear and dedicated strategic plan for IT enhancement. From there, we can identify the specific IT modules that need to be developed or upgraded.

This is exactly what Lembaga Zakat Negeri Kedah (LZNK) did five years ago, and the next phase of our 2025–2030 strategic plan will kick off in 2025,” I explained to them.

Among the key recommendations to improve zakat management in the Maldives is to start by preparing a comprehensive strategic planning document.

This proposal was also strongly supported by Prof. Dr. Baharom during his session.

When this matter was shared with Dato’ Sheikh Zakaria Othman, he immediately agreed to assist Maldives Zakat House in formulating their strategic plan.

It was also proposed to the CEO of Maldives Zakat House and the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs that the theme for INZAC 2026 should focus on strategic planning.

This is expected to strengthen the strategic direction of Maldives Zakat House for the next five years, from 2026 to 2030.

International Zakat Conference Maldives 2025

Honoured to deliver my keynote address this afternoon at the International Zakat Conference 2025, hosted by the Maldives Zakat House in collaboration with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Maldives.

I had the opportunity to share Lembaga Zakat Negeri Kedah’s (LZNK) journey in leveraging technology to enhance zakat collection and distribution, driving greater transparency, efficiency, and impact for the communities we serve.

Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saaed, Minister of Islamic Affairs

The event was officiated by Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saaed, Minister of Islamic Affairs and Chairman of Maldives Zakat House, who also launched the Shariah Principles and Standards for the Collection and Distribution of Zakat, developed by Maldives Zakat House.

Grateful for the engaging discussions and meaningful questions from participants. I hope the insights shared today will contribute to strengthening the role of zakat and Islamic social finance in addressing global socio-economic challenges.
