Charming’s Angel is our name; we consisted of Me, Dea, and Diana. Originally, we have Efren as Charming and us, as his Angels. The tale started on our first year in High School where Dea and I were classmates and at the same time we shared the same school service. Since then we sat beside wach other until we got along so well.
While, Diana was my classmate since first grade yet we do not consider each other as super friends, until she sat beside Dea and I, and the rest was history.
One hot and sunny afternoon, after class, we decided to walk home. Dea and I were wearing plain white shirt and our skirt uniform matched with our rubber shoes. Meanwhile Diana wore our blouse and skirt uniform complimented with her rugged shoes.
Because we did not bring our umbrellas, we suffered the tremendous punishment of the sun. Sweat run from our sulky faces. We did walk for silence; it was an unusual for me, because I knew we were so loud.
We were walking along the side of high way, Dea was on my front, Diana was on my back, no one spoke until he passed by. Who is he? Well, he made our day so hilarious and adventurous.
He was known as “Richard” he has mental illness, one of our classmates told us, that he is harmful and he could chase anyone he like.
As he was passing by with his walkman on his ears, our exhausted and sweating body awaken. Dea thre a suspicious look at me, then I threw the same look at Diana when she saw the presemce of Richard after her. And that time, frighten beheld us.
As I was eyeing Richard and Diana as well, I saw he stopped and he turned his back to us. I started to scream. Ideas from what one of our classmate said flooded my mind. Diana started to run, from my back she swiftly changed her place on the front of Dea who started to run also and I did not notice that I am also running.
Running, as if the danger was after us; that death was chasing us; running faster than a horse. While running, I saw Diana closed her eyes while summoning her mother. Meanwhile Dea was so eager to get her butt out of the scene. Me? I was laughing. Laughing out loud.
I am so keen observant that time that I noticed every person we passed by wearing confused looks towards us. I don’t know why, but I could not turn my head 360° while I’m running, it was difficult.
Because we were in high way, there were plenty of vehicles that day, yet they could not stop us from running, instead they will stop for us. Drivers yelled at us, but who cares we can’t hear them, and the only care we have is to escape from Richard.
We were near at the end like, I thought, when a huge pig appeared together with its master, maybe it was ready to be slaughtered. The man kipped on waving his hands to us to stop, but he failed, he was the one who stop and the pig cried, as he pulled its collar.
I remember I fit myself between a tricycle that had stopped and a jeepney that thanks God was parked. The driver yelled at me, but I don’t care, I just need to get out of this chase.
As we were running furiously, we cannot feel the weight of our bags and our soaring feet.
And as we reached the end line ensuring that we have run far enough from Richard, we fin’lly stopped. Gasping vigorously our breath as if it was the last we were going to breathe. We were gasping and coughing while chatting for how long, I could not remember. Still we were ensuring ourselves that we were farther to be caught.
As we were chatting, our lungs kipped on pumping and pumping air because we were lacking some fresh air but still we were laughing so lout. Laughing at ourselves because we realized he did not chasing us at all.
