This Cruel War: Stones River The Union Right Wing

The games starts with a spine shivering rebel yell!

Yankees caught only half prepared are sent backward pell-mell.

Its a good start but the Yankees quickly start to get organized.
Turn 2 Celbume's Division continues to drive back Sheridan's division destroying another brigade and driving the final one back.
My advance is steady though not as dramatic as turn 1.
Turn 3 the Yankees get Frisky and launch a counter attack but are driven back.
The attack on the left begin well Driving one unit back.
Then the second brigade of the echelon attack goes in! but we cannot break Through
Turn 5 my cavalry with Hardee in the lead charges and break one infantry unit
Then Woods Brigade overwhelms another Rebel unit and captures the Yankee corps commander.

Challenge Bonus Round 1 Emprie

'Empire' From AdamC - Battle Fleet Gothic Imperial Navy (94)

The Imperium of Man is the not exactly good guy empire of humanity in the 40K universe. I am not as up on lore as some so I will not dig into that but they seem to fit the bill an Empire them. I enjoy Naval games including space combat and I have always liked the look of Battle Fleet Gothic ships so I garbed these when I saw them at a convention flea market. These are STL file 3d Prints so some of them may not be "cannon" but I have done my best to identify them.

First we have a 5 Sword class Frigates, Small fast attack craft that also serve as escorts for larger ships.

I added some 1/2400 (5 inch) turrets I had lying around from some old GHQ models as enhancements

We then have what was identified after many searches and discussions a an Assyrian class Light Cruiser. There is also a chance this is Dauntless class Light Cruiser

This is another sword class but in larger scale. Lets call it a "Great Sword" class frigate.

I added a 1/2400 scale cruiser turret. See can act as "flotilla" leader for the Sword Frigates

For larger ships we have a variant of the Dominator class cruiser the prominent broad side weapons make me wonder if Black Seas could be adapted to pace combat

Finally a Lunar Class Cruiser.
The Midships Turrets confuse me they could get as more broadside fire power if they were mounted on the top of the ship and positioned they way they are only one can fire for and aft. I guess the Imperium doesn't do Super firing turrets.

I am very please with how the White, Gold and Black color scheme came out. The US Great White Fleet was in my mind as I painted these.
Points the smaller escort/light Cruisers count at 15mm Guns so there are 7 of them for 4 points each (28) The larger Cruisers count as 15mm Vehicles with 2 for 8 points each (16)

Challenge entry #3

From AdamC: German Destroyer and Torpedo Boat (4 Points)

With the Flue hitting my home hard I have only small entry this week. A pair of German ships 1/2400 Scale form GHQ.

First up a Z1 Class German Destroy. The Z1s were big destroyers mean to counter the large French and Polish destroyers of the late 20s and 30s. Unfortunately for the Germans there were issues that came from a lack of practical experience among German ship designers/builders.

These ships had too much capability crammed into too little hull. Sea keeping was poor (one commentator indicated they had distressing habit of plunging bow first as if trying to join the U-boat arm). Three out of the four were lost in 1940 the last one eventually being surrendered to the British.

I also have a Type 23 torpedo boat also called a Mowen (Seagull) class Theses are small ships built under the restrictions of the Versailles Treaty.

Six were built in total and despite being older designs they saw a good deal of fighting. All six were lost during the war. I am not sure if Baltic Camo pattern is appropriate for Destroyers and Torpedo Boats but I like how it looks and use it for all my Kriegsmarine ships.

Two 1/2400 Scale ships is 4 points

=============================
Sylvain: Great looking little ships. Destroyers make naval games fun. It's a great idea to use transparent bases. Bravo!

Challenge Entry 2 an eclectic mix

From AdamC: Gunfighter, Chaos Cruisers, Anglo-Dutch Warships and Japanese warships (85 Points)

First up a lady gunfighter a 3D print from Bloody Scotsman Games for Devil in San Miguel. They aren't selling miniatures any more but you can buy at least some of their games.

I made her outfit vaguely US cavalry, perhaps a sutler or camp follower of even a woman scout.

I'm please with how the skirt pinstripes came out.

A pair of Battle Fleet Gothic Chaos Cruisers. These are 3d prints, not the originals.

I came up with theses colors purple and bronze with black, seemed like they would be striking.

Ships are sort of my thing. These are Anglo-Dutch wars vessels for the game "Mad for War"

This first is a Dutch frigate

Then we have two 50-gun English ships of the line

In this era the 50 gunner is a true line of battle ship not the awkward isn't a ship of the line isn't really a frigate it will be in the more familiar Napoleonic period.

We also have an English frigate.

I wouldn't call these my best work but they should be OK on the table top. The print weren't as good as some I have worked with and there is less art for inspiration showing how individual ships looked in this period. If anyone has a good source I would welcome the info.

Two Kamikaze class Japanese destroyers

These were state of the art in the 1920s but clearly second line units by the Second World War,

Still they saw a lot of action in the war. Early in the war the Japanese tended to have red Hinomaru, often called "meatballs" by the Americans, for identification usually on the turrets but as these are open gun mounts I put one on the top of the bridge. Such recognition is clear sign you fear friendly fire from your own aircraft more than you fear the enemy aircraft (rightly or wrongly). Its a fun distinctive look even if it was sort lived.

Points :
1x 25mm figure for 5
2x chaos cruisers for 16 points (counted as a 15 mm vehicles I believe )
4x Anglo-dutch wars ships for 60 points (these are similar in size to the Black Seas ships I did in the past at 15x points each)
2x 1/2400 ships for 4 points (2 each I believe)

Total: 85 points

========================================

Sylvain: Adam, you offer us a very eclectic selection of models. I especially like your BFG chaos cruisers. Their esthetic is very unique and your paint job enhances their menacing look. You will definitely keep naval wargaming alive. Joli travail!
