Hi, it was a beautiful winter day here in Kentucky on January 9th. and the temperature was 69% ! My three awesome cats had enjoyed it to the fullest as you can see. Sleep well my kitties, it may be the last nice day you all will see until April. Cloud, the big white guy and Dixie my black and white one are pretty old now so they don’t usually stay outside for very long. Tucker, the perky gray and white one is a teenager and it’s hard to get him to come in before dark. Oh how I love them all!
A friend of mine just lost her horse that she had for many years. I was trying to understand how sad she might be feeling so I could comfort her with some kind words. I started thinking about my cat that died two years ago, you all might remember this. I felt so sad about losing her I wrote a poem about her and posted it here and all my other social media’s
A Poem For Little Girl
She’s gone now in a long lasting sleep Sweet memories edged in my heart so deep The pictures I’ve taken of her over the years Some funny, others fill my eyes with tears
Lot’s of head butting she did so that we would bond Her constant purring told me she felt secure and calm She followed me around Like a little puppy dog Sleeping on top my head while I slept like a log
In pain with arthritis and diabetic too A crackling meow that barely got through So old she was when alas put down to rest I lost a loyal companion, I lost the very best
I didn't do it, that should be obvious for you to see For some silly reason you guys want to blame me Hiding in boxes and bags that's what we cats do Blame other critters for drinking your trout stue
I'm not the bad guy, just tryna stay outta your way There are other cats around, I'll bet it was a stray I'm big old and fat, which makes me not so quick So don't try to pin it on me, it's never gonna stick
Well it's needless for me to say I'm not getting any work done to day Knowing full well my schedule is tight t am certain in this my cats take delight
Yes I have cats, last count there was three As challenging as you think that might be Navigating a wheelchair around them can be intense Writing poetry at the same time may not make sense
Working on three websites for me can take some skill Making sure the bird feeders and squirrl feeders are full Taking care of my spiritual needs is also a daily pleasure Writing a new poem each day, now that's the real treasure
Although I’m a little limited in my way of life I don’t often get to lonely or filled up with strife I have a little partner that is always hanging around, He keeps me happy, seldom do you see me frown
He’s watching closely from the back of my chair People that approach me, do so with much care. His secret is well hidden in his soft little paws, If you mess with me, out will come his sharp claws.
I’m not trying to frighten you, so here’s the deal Just me giving you caution, to you I appeal. It’s better for you to know right from the start, This little guy has secured himself in my heart.
This is so good for both Cloud and Tucker. to have each other. Both are male, Cloud old and Tucker a teenager. Cloud is patient and gentle with Tucker who is young and feisty, always eager to play and Cloud tolerates him, they are good for each other. I might add for those who are first time visitors, Cloud is the all white cat that belongs to my daughter. She tells me the old boy has signes of arthritis setting in. =^..^=
He sleeps under this step ladder all the time. I think he thinks he can’t be seen under there and so Dixie can’t see him under it and so he feels safe.
I have three water dishes out on two decks and Tucker insist on drinking the water out of the bird bath. This water is not fresh and clean and cold. The cats water dishes are cleaned and filled every morning with fresh water. Why Tucker?
Can you find all of them? I don’t often get to see the cats all together like this just minding their own business, but the weather is great with the fall temperatures upon us now and the cats know that it won’t last. Tanzy and Cloud are my daughters two cats. Tucker and Tanzy like to go for walks together and Cloud and Tucker get along by playfully pawing at each other. It’s all so nice and peaceful until Dixie showes up. That’s why I have to tell you, she’s not really in this picture, I put her in it because she is part of the family.
I need to add something to this post. The funny thing is my neighbor has 2 cats that look like my two cats. One looks just like Tucker and yes, the other one looks like Dixie without the moustache. I was trying to get Tucker to come up on my deck yesterday, but it wasn’t Tucker, it was the neighbors cat, the one that looks just like Tucker. As he started to come up on the deck I could see he was wearing a collar. I had to tell him, never mind, never mind, don’t come up. If we get any new cats around here lets hope they are orange!
Does Cloud really enjoy Tucker ‘s company or is he just tolerating him? Cloud is pretty old and Tucker is the kitten, might be just a little over a year old. He follows Cloud around and playfully pawes at him all the time, I think he looks up to Cloud kinda like a big brother.
The missy says I’m getting freckles on my nose as I get older, do you see more freckles on my nose? Little Girl had that happen to her nose until it was a totally black nose when she became an adult, could happen. I also noticed that his nose looks dirty. Maybe he was digging in the dirt, he loves to catch little moles in our back yard, he brings them to my door.
Tucker is a big boy now, that is happy, playful, and fun to have around. He also gets lots of love and attention from me, my caregivers, and my daughter and her husband who are the ones that will be taking him in after I pass on. He gets along great with my daughters two cats, it’s only Dixie that has a problem with him but Dixie has a problem with every body.
Dixie swiped at me and actually drew blood. It was my fault cause I can’t stop messing with her and chasing her around the house even though she is bigger then me and she’s mean. Well the cut itches all the time and I keep scratching it all the time, so the missy puts this thing on me! I am not happy.
Now that I’m old and retired and living alone It’s so quiet and lonely, just me in my home So I’ll get a cat, or a kitten might better do It won’t be exciting, but least there’ll be two
Oh, what I’ve been missing, it’s amazing to me So much fun, so much laughter, so much energy And then the quiet moments, curled up in a ball On the couch, the bed, my slippers left in the hall
I marvel and wonder upon this little creature As she sleeps I gaze upon her every feature Little pink pads on the bottom of her paws And a tiny pink nose, I believe she has no flaws
The most magic moments are at night when in bed Her warm little body lying cross the top of my head The soft sound of purring tells of no fear ever to be Oh, what I’ve been missing, it’s amazing to me
Protection from the snow is what the kitten needs Taking shelter underneath the big fir trees He must have wandered off too far from the barn Foolishly thinking it would do him little harm
A big black bird flew down from the gray sky Landed right next to this fluffy little guy You look cold, frightened and quite alone I’ll guide you back to the barn that is your home

Can you see the big snowflakes coming down The cold wind is blowing those flakes all around It’s piling up real fast making big snow banks Do I want to go out, I tell my missy no thanks
One paw out the door and I could disappear Buried in the snow until the spring gets here The good news is that my fur is thick and black So you could maybe find me by my big paw tracts

Little Girl had to be euthanized this spring because she acquired diabetes and had endured arthritis pain in her legs. She lived a good life for 14 years and was dearly loved.
My Dixie cat is so very much fun I bring her out daily for a brisk run She mostly likes the big Maple trees With their many red and orange leaves
One red leaf dropped on her head And slowly slipped down her nose Her big eyes only saw bright red She brushed it away with her paw-toes
I gather the leaves up into a big pile And so begins much laughter for a while Jumping in and out in and out my crazy cat Till there’s nothing left leaving the pile flat
She stands at my feet looking up at me I kinda know what it is that she wants Gather up another pile of leaves says she I will entertain as well as keep you busy
Whether you love cats or hate them there is no denying Watching a cat or kittens behavior is so very gratifying Graceful and stylish in appearance and in there every manner With there sharp eyes asking, could you find anything grander
Even when cats get old they can still have that haughty composure And the stray that has no shelter and lives a life of exposure Can carry it off having you think there is nothing quite so divine Will we ever learn that all cats know how to let their light shine
Tucker has not been outside yet, he is just to young and he could run off into the woods in the back yard. The white cat is my daughters cat Cloud and they visit often like this. 🙂
