It’s been over one year since my last blog post. So long in fact that I forgot my password, WordPress locked me out because I’m evidently a security risk, updated my password, and I had to take a tour of all the new formatting. Well, welcome back!
This past year has been a major shift. No long saga of details, but I have not been willing or able to reboot my jewelry business. Major life interventions. In fact, as a result I made the decision to not renew my seller’s permit. It actually feels good to not have to keep business and tax records. I just make a few pieces of jewelry here and there when I want to. That said, I still feel the frequent, strong urge to purchase lovely stones, shiny wire, and more tools. Does this ever go away??
I decided to post a few photos of some of my makings this past year. Frustrated that I even had to refresh my photo editing skills. Such a pain. These aren’t the bests, but here they are.
First, some thank you gifts for ladies who have helped with our Women’s Ministry this year.
Next up, a very flashy labradorite cab in a sterling prong setting.
The stone is one of a group of about 15 I did purchase this year. Oops!
I also made a special order necklace for someone whose girlfriend loves purple. I had put the first pendant into a gala’s silent auction. Try as he might, he was outbid. So he asked if I had any other purple stones. Unfortunately, the rough amethyst was a one-off, but I did have some other faceted amethyst stones. The second photo shows what I made for him. He loved it!
I’ve posted some watercolor cards before. These have given me immense pleasure during some down times recently. They do not require the set up that jewelry making does. I can get lost in creating these for an hour or two. And I have something so very practical to use. Either as a personal note card mailed to someone or tie up a small bundle to give as a gift. These next photos show something I really enjoyed making before Valentine’s Day. (saw the idea on instagram, I think). After painting a collage on large watercolor paper, trace and cut out lots of hearts. Acrylic and watercolors. I attached them to a notecard with those sticky foam dots to give a little dimensional effect. There were enough scraps left to cut out tiny hearts for the back of each envelope. I don’t know if you can see this, but I’m in love with adding splashes of gold watercolor paint.
Even though this year has had big changes, I am so grateful to still have the ideas and the ability to do some creating here and there. To be honest, I’m not sure what this means for my blog. This has been such a wonderful way to personally record my jewelry journey and adventures AND connect with a huge community of supporters. Such an unexpected and glorious gift.
Thank you all so much.
