Iran bans women from 77 university majors, including engineering, physics
Iran’s Science and Higher Education Ministry has banned women from enrolling in 77 university departments on the grounds that there is no work for them once they graduate from post-secondary education, according to the Telegraph.
"Our experience in the past showed us that even if women graduate from these departments, they fail to work actively in these fields," a ministry official said.
“Departments like agriculture and mining are unfit for the female nature,” the official also said.
With the move, women will no longer be capable of becoming engineers, nuclear physicists, archaeologists, business graduates and computer scientists as these and other departments in over 35 Iranian universities will henceforth only admit male students.
English literature, translation and hotel management are some of the other banned departments.
Another Iranian official said the move was designed to establish “balance” in the education system.
Some 65 percent of students in Iranian universities are women, and the country also has one of the highest female-versus-male graduation rates in the world.

Mattel’s launch this week of its autistic Barbie doll triggered a hot debate among advocates for and parents of autistic people.

Those in favor said the doll may be relatable to a growing number of children. Others accused the toymaker of “normalizing” the autism epidemic.

Polly Tommey, CHD.TV program director, said the doll “doesn’t represent my son with autism or the 12,000 signatures on the bus. Normalizing a condition that is debilitating with lifelong suffering is cruel.”

Brian Hooker, Ph.D., CHD’s chief scientific officer and the father of a severely autistic adult male, called the doll “extremely insulting.”

“Autism is a neuroautoimmune disorder and not a people group,” Hooker said. “Most individuals I know with autism identify at their core with their humanity and uniqueness and not their belonging to some type of ‘marginalized people group.’”

Karl Jablonowski, Ph.D., CHD’s senior research scientist, said he had a mixed reaction to the new doll. “Autism is an injury, and an injury is not to be celebrated or normalized. But autism affects children, and all children should be celebrated and included.”

“Autistic Barbie is not designed to portray moderate or severe autism, which accounts for roughly 60% of all autism diagnoses. She does not come with a head-banging helmet nor an adult diaper. When they grow up, there are some cold, hard facts that await people who played with autistic Barbie.”

Dr. Peter McCullough said autistic Barbie “raises complex ethical and sociological concerns.” He said it “blurs critical distinctions between acceptance and indifference” and “can dull urgency for researching underlying causes, removing pressure from regulatory agencies and vaccine developers whose negligence may have contributed to the surge in cases.”

“The timing of this release is revealing,” McCullough wrote. “Instead of confronting potential iatrogenic causes of epidemic level neurodevelopmental disorders, corporations and advocacy networks are reframing autism as a benign form of ‘neurodiversity’ to be celebrated.”

President Donald Trump’s suggestion Tuesday that his Board of Peace “might” replace the United Nations is likely to compound concerns that the body meant to oversee the reconstruction of Gaza — and that he will indefinitely chair — will instead become a vehicle for him to attempt to supersede the body established 80 years ago to maintain global peace.

Before Trump’s comments, some diplomats already had myriad concerns over the board’s possible membership and the fact a permanent seat is up for sale at $1 billion.

The White House on Friday announced a “founding Executive Board,” including Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, special envoy Steve Witkoff and former British prime minister Tony Blair.

And according to the charter draft, a copy of which was obtained by CNN, Trump will serve as indefinite chairman of the board, possibly holding the post beyond his second term as president. Trump will be replaced only due to “voluntary resignation or as a result of incapacity, as determined by a unanimous vote of the Executive Board.” A future US president can appoint or designate the US representative to the board in addition to Trump, a US official said.

Although some, such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, have confirmed their participation, others have yet to commit — and some, such as France, have declined.

Russia is among the nations invited to join, raising alarm about how a country actively waging war could be involved in an effort to secure peace. China and Belarus have also been invited.

My mom was 15 when she dated my dad who was 24. Today, my dad might as well be labelled a pedophile, but it was my mom who was the one who sought it out. It was consensual. She was not traumatized by the event in which I was conceived. Possibly because there wasn’t so much hysteria about it at the time. My grandmother didn’t prosecute my father and instead insisted they got married. There was no trauma because no one made my mother a victim!
