Houston, We have a Climber!

Garrett surprised us the other day when he climbed onto the couch. He was so excited that he started jumping up and down. For a couple of days now, his favorite has been to climb onto the couch. Then he uses US as his stepping stool to climb onto the back of the couch and look out the window. This kid is seriously trying to give us a heart attack.

Then on Sunday I was getting ready for church so I put Garrett in his walker to keep him out of things. I turned around and this is what I saw:

Yep, that's him - CLIMBING OUT OF HIS WALKER! Not the best photos since they were taken with my cell phone, but you get the idea. I don't know what I'm going to do now. We're doomed.

Garrett's 1 year pics

I was so excited to pick up Garrett's pictures yesterday from Portraiture Studio! We had them taken last week and I've been patiently waiting. Yeah, I know. Why wouldn't I just take them myself? Well, because I bought a Groupon awhile back and it was a great deal. Plus, she's a great photographer. Why not let someone else do the work? :) So here are a few of my favorites.

Garrett's almost 1!!

I can't believe how big my little man is getting. In just 3 weeks he'll be a year old. I really wanted to do a big birthday party, but there really is no point in spending the money on all kinds of decorations just to please me. He won't have any idea what's going on. So in an effort to save some money (you know me!), I made the invitations for the party.

With the exception of the monkey (I stole that online), I made the whole thing :) I wanted to hang his name from the vine somehow, but I couldn't quite figure out how so Matt gave me the idea of the smaller vines w/ leaves. I think it turned out pretty well!

So on with some random pictures...Garrett LOVES swimming. We got him a little pool and I finally decided to put it up for him. Look at the blonde hair!

I have no idea what this next one's about. I think he was splashing and got water in his eye.

And look at those eyes. He is his daddy's boy :)

Onto some more random pics. I decided his nap was lasting a little too long one day so I woke him up. Mean mommy, I know. But I wanted to get some sleep that night! He was so cute trying to figure out why I woke him up.

And recently he's figured out to yell and scream at me. He's not fussing, he's just trying to get a point across that I'm not paying enough attention to him. This especially happens while I'm on the phone or when we're in the car. Yesterday afternoon was pretty sweet and playful ... until he started yelling at me. I think he wanted me to stop taking pictures of him.

Look at all of those teeth! He has 7 now and is working on the 8th one. He'll be eating steak before you know it.

And this is where the yelling started.

I suppose that's enough for now. Off to lunch!

Independence Day!

This past weekend didn't start out as good as I'd hoped. Matt was supposed to be home from Oregon on Saturday, but didn't make it in until Sunday afternoon. Then on Sunday I was sick most of the day. I think I had food poisoning from my birthday burger at Red Robin. I think I'll stray away from there for awhile. Thankfully I started feeling better just in time to go to the family cookout. Garrett had this cute little shirt on that said "Made in the USA" I love this picture..too bad I wasn't pay anything attention to my focus.

Uncle Dave put a bottom in the tire swing so Audrey could use it... but it worked out great for Garrett, too. He loved it so much that Matt is talking about getting one for home!

And here's little man smiling at daddy.

So all in all, it ended up being a good day. Despite my illness and Matt's speeding ticket (shhh!), we had a good cookout and some family time. I can't wait for this weekend! I have four days off and Matt's going to be home. We plan on going to the IMA and checking out the new grounds they just opened up....and maybe even the Zoo!

I LOVE Saving Money!!!

Most of you know that I've recently become completely obsessed with saving money. Today was no different. On my lunch break today I rushed over to Target. I rushed because I only have 30 minutes to get there and back. Granted, it's across the street but I work on the second floor and we have a big parking lot.

Anyway, I had 30 coupons in hand - 15 for BOGO and 15 Target Q for $.50/1. Target was having a sale that ends today - $10 for 10 Sobe Lifewaters....and when you buy 10, they give you a $5 Target gift card (no limit on how many you can get!) So I loaded up the cart with 30 drinks and a package of sushi (YUM) and went to the checkout. The cashier guy thought I was crazy buying all of these drinks. {Guess what I'll have to drink at G's party next month :) }. Then when I handed him the coupons he kind of sighed a little. I think it was one of those "I was supposed to get off right when you walked up to my check out. Now I'll be here forever" sighs. I joked and called myself the crazy coupon lady. He didn't crack even a little smile! So I got my drinks, paid for my sushi with one of my gift cards and RAN (well, walked very briskly) back to work. I made it with 30 seconds to spare!

Oh, and I'm going after work to grab some more!

I've been a slacker long enough

Garrett's almost a year old now so I figured it was about time I worked on this blog. I set it up and completely forgot about it....so here we go!

Garrett was incredibly bored playing in the house the other day. Thankfully, I mowed the yard the day before so we were able to play outside. We grabbed his bouncy ball and headed to the side yard. He was more interested in playing with and eating the grass than playing with the ball.

I did get a shot of him with his ball, though. Look at those baby blues :)

Now onto a couple of weeks ago where Garrett attempted to feed himself spaghetti. I had the bath ready before I even took this picture.

We spent a couple of days in Bloomington with Dad and Lisa. Their pool had a hole in it, but thanks to Kody and the water hose, Garrett was able to enjoy a little bit of summertime fun. Lisa decided this was a better idea than a bath.

(sorry, these pics haven't been edited)
And here you can see the diaper laying next to Lisa's foot ...

While we were at dad's, Lisa also decided it was time for G to learn the guitar. He actually liked it quite a bit. We might just have to get him one soon

I decided Garrett needed a haircut because he was starting to look like Joe Dirt with his mullet. He was such a trooper and sat still the entire time! Now he really does look like he's two.

Ok, that's enough for now. I'll add more pictures later tonight when I get home from work :)
