KING CANNIBAL STACKS…
Upon recently observing it was 10 years since my first ever release . I decided it was time to go back and upon up the vaults. Upon finding some mashups even i had forgotten about i thought i’d upload them to soundcloud and share. There are currently a free download link for these, but as ever these things are always limited.
The first was created around the time of Grinted Teeth & Brawlsville and is a hidden track on that CD, from back around 2005.
The Second is from slightly later yet carrying on the vibe of southern hospitality. Master P Vs Funkarma.

KING CANNIBAL POSTS…
Don’t forget kids… My ‘All Of The Colours Of The Night’ EP is now out digitally. Vinyl should be hitting shelves very very shortly.
KING CANNIBAL SAYS…
If you head over to Ad Noiseam you can preview and pre-order tracks from my forthcoming E.P – Al The Colours Of The Night.
Get your business face on with a slice of the official info below – more of which can be found at http://www.adnoiseam.net/adn140. The Machine Code remix of Dirt (Mary Anne Hobb’s set opener for her recent U.S tour, Sonar & Boiler Room shows) is the first part of a remix swap between Dead Rodell, Current Value & Myself, the second part being my remix of User Error which is featured on CD2 of the Machine Code album.
“The night has roared, and now has many colours and shades on King Cannibal’s most varied record to date. From this established producer’s insidious remix of Bong-Ra’s “Come Out To Play” or Machine Code’s anthemic and furious version of “Dirt” to the more laid back and melodic remixes by Krumble and Dead Fader, this EP is an accurate snapshot of what King Cannibal is about: not only can he pack a dancefloor, but he also delivers gentle tunes or impressive beatwork. King Cannibal has a posse, an untamed, diverse one.(get this on 12″ / as digital files)”

Get to know Ghettozoid, producer of my favourite 140 track at the moment ‘Boy Toy’ out on One4Ho which she co-runs with Mai Harper. A wet dream of rhythm that effortlessly injects an overbearing, moody tension (taking it’s cue from Dj Funk via Miss Kittin & Chicks On Speed ) into a dubstep framework. It’s about time we had something to counter the amount of ‘brostep’ that the dubstep scene has been drowning in recently. Hopefully we will be seeing a lot more of Ghettozoid around these parts including some work from her on the next King Cannibal album.

Ad Noiseam, I hope you are used to that label name as it will be getting used around here a fair bit in the near future.
Miike Teknoist contacted me last year about putting together a remix of Aragami Style, i think originally planned as part of a mix cd. I’m happy to say the release has found a home in the form of The Teknoist’s new album ‘Trainwreck Magnetism‘ which is available on Ad Noiseam. A tightly clenched fist of an album containing original solo tracks and remixes. Mu-Ziq, Drumcorps Hecq & Exillion also get the Trainwreck treatment. As said on the press release “The Teknoist drives one of his main points home again: however hard his music might be, it’s a world apart from just throwing fast beats around, but requires a lot of open mindedness and care. ”
Available on both CD and digital download NOW
“The Teknoist is back, and he has a posse. “Trainwreck Magnetism” not only gathers the newest composition by one of the rare musicians who can combine the words “breakcore” and “pristine”, but also his remixes for high profile friends such as Drumcorps, King Cannibal, Hecq and others. It’s hard (very), sometimes dark, often angry, but also particularly varied. A highly rewarding album which satisfy both the urge to thrash around and the need for carefully crafted music, The Teknoist’s new full-length is another crown for this pillar of the breakcore and hardcore sounds.”

It’s with sad news that i have to announce that my appearance at De Spot, Middelburg this Friday (15th of April) has been cancelled. From my understanding the show will still go ahead with Knalpot (but best to check http://www.despotmiddelburg.nl/Web/Programma/bekijk/Knalpot-King-Cannibal for details) and we will try and rearrange the show for the near future. I never take cancelling an appearance lightly as i appreciate every gig i’m offered and a lot of work goes in both from the promoters and the booking agents. I also would never want to toy with the feelings of anyone who bought a ticket to a show. If you follow me on twitter you may well have noticed some upset messages from me of late. The health of an immediate family member has been deteriorating and the emergency surgery has to be performed. Needless to say my place is here, at home for this event.

KING CANNIBAL SHARES…
Whilst browsing Diabolikdvd i stumbled across a strange looking VHS titled Video Horror Show Vol.2, a product boasting to be a 15 min witch house track created as an original score for this haunted tape, on blue vhs no less. What can i say, i was drawn to digging out more.
http://videohorrorshow.com/ are behind these superb limited tapes, Each seeming to be different exercises of cutting up all kinds of visual dark matter and pairing the footage which a variety of aural sludge (and i say that in total compliment) focussing on an act per tape. Think of them as in home installations, designed to make your TV twist and moan like it was in Videodrome. These make great companions with last year’s Jigoku by Lovely Jon and The Cherrystones, more focussed on italian bloodlust, goats and Barbara Bouchet than the Clouzot kinetic art and vintage region 3 of Jigoku.
This speaks to us here at Godsofwar on all levels so we URGE to investigate and CONSUME. They have a membership option allowing a year’s subscription over on their site http://videohorrorshow.com , or you can still pick up The Five Wounds
KING CANNIBAL DOESN’T EXPLAIN…
This doesn’t really need words. Just a link from where to buy the album.
Here is a chart i put together for Mixmag a few weeks ago, it slipped my mind to mention it previously. By way of recompense i have given myself 3 Hail Marys and 5 Halie Selassies.

If you head over to Ninja Tune’s Ninjashop you can hear samples from Amon Tobin’s forthcoming ‘Chaos Theory Remix’ album. I was honoured to be asked to be part of the project and for these to be the third and forth remixes i’ve completed of Amon’s works. Other remixes come from Kid Koala, Lorn, Eskmo, the Qemists and the man himself. Come take a listen. I’ve you’ve been to any King Cannibal show in the last 5 months you’ll know doubt have heard my remix of The Lighthouse already, when i’ve a fully developed av show i look forward to playing Theme From Battery,
The blackmaps record label/arts enterprise (which I’m loosely associated with due to label founder Stuart Souter being an old friend and player in Knives ov Resistance) asked me for a mix, which we were then lucky enough to get hosted on the truly excellent Quietus web magazine. Features Juked-Up TG and Stereolab and a Kraut/Jungle clash. Listen here.
After the release of the Way Of The Ninja mix late last year i was asked to put together some extended standalone edits of a couple highlights to send out to radio. Too good to waste the lovely people at Big Up Magazine (hey what happened to that really long interview i did when i was in SF about this time last year? ) are offering downloads of the two tracks below.
Wiley – Bow E3 (King Cannibal’s XX Edit)
Daedelus Vs Emika – Retouch Tone (King Cannibal’s Long XX Edit)
Spykidelic Writes
The nice folk at Discrepant asked me to contribute a mix and I happily obliged with my homage to the legendary Starck Club. Listen/Download here
KING CANNIBAL SAYS…
So the end of 2010 is near and the blogs are full of round-ups and best of lists whilst the record shops take a breather from new releases. Last weekend saw my final two gigs of the year, at the Ninja XX after party at Concord 2 in Brighton and The Way Of The Ninja album launch at the Rhythm Factory in East London. Thanks to everyone who came out for the shows, extra thanks to those who mobbed out the launch making it strictly one in one out on the door and going nothing short of buckwild on the dancefloor.
Wednesday night saw me attending my first ever album launch as The Way Of The Ninja was up for DJ Mag’s Best Of British 2010 : best compilation award. I had stiff competition up against big names like Scuba and dBridge & instra:mental (who have been particularly influential to me this year) and wasn’t surprised to miss out to Autonomic Fabric 50. Congratulations guys. Also congratulations to Bonobo who won for Best Album and Ninja Tune for Best Label (so i guess i had a default win of sorts).
Before i head off to New Zealand tomorrow for a break over the christmas & new year period (i’ve got a large number of press interviews lines up for my stay, so if your in that part of the world stay tuned to your local favourite stations) i completed an interview for Miami crew Smut & Bass. Its fairly long and spills the beans a bit on how my second album is taking shape and what sounds you can expect as well as the thought process on my Blackout track and general production talk. You can check the piece out HERE.
NTSH London have put together a 15 minute documentary and behind the scenes piece on Ninja’s big XX show at Ewer Street earlier in the year. Its the best little doc i’ve seen on the label tied in to the 20th birthday – and i’m not just saying that as i feature quite heavily. honest.
With that being all things 2010 you can get a glimpse of 2011 with my remix of Memory9’s new single feat Juakali (whom i have also recently collaborated with) on Data Transmissions 2010 round up mix (podcast 075) which you can check out HERE or on soundcloud below. Whilst my material in the past has been very focussed on deep round low end and sharp high frequencies i decided to experiment with a ‘flatter’ sound for this, typical in more modern productions.
