Hello, hello! My last post was over a year and a half ago. Sheesh. That’s slightly pathetic. Ezra was just 9 months. I think I succumbed to the craziness of 2u2 and I had to let something go. Sadly, it was this. I’m sorry!

So yes, it has been a little while. And remember Jude? He would have been about 21 months the last time I posted:

And now he is 3.5. WHERE DOES THE TIME GO?

Also, something else has happened. Or maybe I should say SOMEONE:

This is Isaac Edwards and he is the happiest baby that ever lived. He just turned 6 months (he’s 4 months old in these photos). We have 3 July baby boys and we could not be happier.

Now that I’m out of that crazy 2u2 stage and into the sometimes just as crazy 3 3 and under stage (ha!) I wanted to pick up blogging again. But, I wanted a fresh site, a fresh outlook, and a fresh piece of paper, so to speak. So I’ve picked up a new website and you can find it here. Please please please subscribe so we can stay in touch! Really late update, but here it is!

Ezra (9 Months):

Weight: 19lbs 4oz (37%) He is dropping in %iles, but I’m trying not to worry as the Dr. doesn’t seem too concerned.

Height: 30.25″ (97%) This boy is tall and skinny!

Head Circumference: 19.02″ (99%)

Clothes: Some 9 months and a lot of 12 months.

Eats: We are STILL able to breastfeed! I am so incredibly excited by this! Though, judging by his weight, I’m afraid I might not be supplying enough of the hind milk (the good stuff). The Dr. was happy that we were still breastfeeding, though. I’m really hoping we can make it to a year. He eats fruits and veggies with us at meal times along with an occasional VERY SMALL sample of meat, pasta, or cheese (depending on what we are having that night). He eats a little but of muffins and eggs in the mornings at breakfast with us as well. He also has oatmeal mixed with some of the pumped milk in my freezer stash that I’m trying to use up before it goes bad. He also loves yogurt. I’m starting to feed him little chunks of food and he does quite well with it!

Sleeps: He takes two naps (most days): 9ish-11ish, and 2ish-4ish. He goes to bed for the night around 8:00. He will still wake occasionally during the night and almost always wakes in the morning sometime between 4 and 6. MOST of the time he will go back to sleep for awhile, but sometimes he’s ready to be up for the day. We moved Ezra into Jude’s room last week and they are really enjoying being together (the first night was a bit rough, though.)

Milestones: He is still not crawling regularly, though is getting closer each day. He has pulled himself up a few times and LOVES to stand. He now has 4 bottom and 4 top teeth (though 1 of each popped through after he turned 9 months so they should really be included in his 10 month update).  I am almost positive he said “thank you” and “Jude” one afternoon during a diaper change when Jude handed him a toy to play with. I have yet to get him to say either again, but I know I heard him say something! He jabbers and will say “Mama” and “Dada” and will clap his hands when told to. He is starting to self feed a bit, too.

Jude (21 Months):

Weight: 27lbs (according to our home scale)

Height: 33 1/2″

Head Circumference: 19 1/2 ”

Clothes: A healthy mixture of 18 months, 24 months, and 2T. He wears a couple pairs of 12-18 month shorts for church as the nice, dressy shorts seem to run big around the waste.

Eats: Everything. Except carrots and pasta with red sauce. We are still not really eating nuts yet. He broke out in hives shortly after eating peanuts the first time so we are waiting to try those again for awhile to see if that was the cause. He will still kind of pick and choose what he wants to eat at some meals, but normally does a pretty good job of eating what I make.

Sleeps: Lately he has been taking 2 naps a day (I think this is because of his super early morning wake ups). He still goes to bed at 8 and will wake anywhere between 6 and 8:30, normally closer to 7.

Milestones: I honestly can’t write out all the words he says because there are so many and it would take me a lot of time to try to think of them all. He has said a few sentences, his first (more than two words) being “I like that tea!” (Tyler gives him sweet tea from time to time and I try not to look 😉 ). He also said his first prayer, “Thank you, God, for this food. Amen.” He is jumping off two feet quite frequently, climbing on everything, sharing with his brother, and following directions pretty well.

Weight: 18.8lbs (according to our home scale)

Height: Not sure!

Head Circumference: Not sure!

Clothes: 9 months.

Eats: People! He is over 8 months old and we are still breastfeeding! I am so excited about this. I nurse him on demand and if he just needs some comfort. And lately my supply has been great! He is also getting at least one helping of solid food a day. He’s had avocado, peas, green beans, sweet potato, potato, carrots, bananas, strawberries, and apples and he likes them all! I will normally puree/mash whatever vegetable we are having with our meal for him.

Sleeps: (Basically the same as last month!) He takes two naps: 9:30ish-11ish, and 2ish-4ish. He goes to bed for the night around 7:30. He has been waking 1-2 times a night, but again, I think that’s because of my supply issues. I still wake up really full if he goes 5 or so hours between feedings, so I’d say that’s positive. He will wake up for the day around 6 or 7.

Milestones: Really starting to make some more sound. Still just rocking on his hands and knees and army crawling. He will try to pull himself up, but can’t because he won’t scoot up on his knees. He is becoming much more aware of his surroundings and much more attentive to what happens around him. A third bottom tooth has popped through.

We are so thankful for this boy!

I’m a terrible mother and never got around to taking his 6 month pictures. Here is his information!

Weight: I think he’s about 19lbs, but I’ll update with his exact weight after his appointment on the 3rd.

Height: Again, update after his appointment.

Head Circumference: Awaiting his appointment!

Clothes: 6 months, 6-9 months and 9 months. We are starting to pack away a lot of his 6 month outfits.

Eats: Exclusively Breastfed every 2-3 hours during the day. We made it to 6 months! I am so excited! My next goal is 10 months and then I may start a very slow weaning process. My supply fluctuates day to day, tho, so I’m hoping to make it that far. I have close to 200oz stored in the freezer and that makes me happy! We will last awhile with that if I need to supplement occasionally. We will most likely start solids after his appointment. I’m wanting to talk to his pediatrician before we start.

Sleeps: We have been sleep training and this boy has been napping! I’m talking REAL naps–none of that 20 minute stuff anymore. He is currently going on 2hours as I type this. He sometimes still needs help falling asleep, but now that he knows how to self soothe he’s connected his nap cycles which has given us much longer naps. Today, for instance, he fussed for 20 minutes (fussing is NOT crying) with a few moments of actually crying here and there. At the 20 minute mark I decided to intervene. I picked him up, nursed him until he was almost asleep on me, then layed him down. He fussed for 10 seconds and then was asleep. Like I said, he’s been asleep close to 2 hours, so  this is major progress. There are quite a few times he actually falls asleep on his own with minimal fussing. I just need to work on reading his cues and laying him down at the right time. And he is back to sleeping all night now! Thank you, sleep training!

Milestones: He is clapping his hands, sitting unassisted (I still leave the boppy around him most of the time) and army crawling. Go, Baby, go!

7 Month Update: 

Weight: At his appointment (he was about 6.5 months at the time) he weighed 18lb 3oz (55%).

Height: 2’3.75″ (83%) (6.5 months)

Head Circumference: 18.27″

Clothes: 6-9 months and 9 months. I’m about to pack away some of his 6-9 month clothes.

Eats: He still nurses every 2ish hours. I’m not surprised, though, because I am having trouble with my supply towards the end of the day. We haven’t had to supplement too much with pumped milk yet, but that time is quickly coming. We introduced some solids at 6.5 months. I have steamed some peas, green beans, carrots, and baked sweet potatoes and mixed them with a little pumped breast milk to feed to him. He like the green beans pretty well. He is still getting used to it all. I tried laying whole green beans on his tray one night and he just looked at them.

Sleeps: He takes two naps: 9:30ish-11ish, and 2ish-4ish. He goes to bed for the night around 7:30. He has been waking 1-2 times a night, but again, I think that’s because of my supply issues. He has been putting himself to sleep fairly well. Sometimes, on his really bad days, I have to intervene. But normally he does okay.

Milestones: He got his first two teeth! Sitting completely unassisted (no more Boppy for “just in case”), army crawling like it’s his job, rocking on his hands and knees, self-soothing, and he is starting to jabber. It is cute! He moves all over the place.

This is supposed to be his 18 month update, but I never got around to taking his picture. Most of this was written a month ago, but I added a few things here and there this past week.

Weight: A little over 25lbs

Height: Not sure!

Head Circumference: Not sure!

Clothes: 12-18 month and mostly 18 month. He wears a couple 2t pajamas.

Eats: The past few months he has been refusing vegetables. My dad actually got him to eat his peas one night when he and my mom were watching the boys and now he eats them every time. He does pretty good with green beans and potatoes, too. He still loves his pasta and has taken to eggs now, too. For fruits he will pretty much eat anything we give him. He just tried oranges this week for the first time and loved them! Some days he’ll eat anything and everything and some days he wants nothing to do with food. He is not a fan of juice, which is fine by me since we rarely keep it in the house. He drinks one big glass of milk in the morning and then water the rest of the day. Sometimes he will have milk at night, especially if he specifically asks for it.

Sleeps: 8pm to 7/8am. He is starting to transition to one LONG nap during the day. If I lay him down in the morning, he won’t want to go down in the afternoon. So I’ve been trying to wait until about 1pm to lay him down for a 2.5-3 hour nap.

Milestones: He is starting to try to use silverware while eating. He helps us set the table. I’ll say, “Jude, come help Mama set the table!” and he will come running to the kitchen to help. he has really taken to looking at books on his own and bringing them to us to read. His favorite is “Go, Dog. Go!” and he will call it by the title. He loves taking things to the trash and will put his own shoes in the closet after they are taken off. He is also starting to learn to put his own toys away. His memory on where things go is great. We love watching him learn!

Vocabulary: He is getting better with enunciation of the words he already knew at 15 months (Ball, Dad, Jack, Down, Night Night, Mama, Drink, Bath, Ezra, More, Go, No, Red, Yellow, One, Two, Three, Trash, Shoes, Nose). He has added to his vocabulary: sock, floor, dog, blanket, brother, table, fork, food, nap, block, bear, book, milk, car, ring, fish, cow, cat, truck (but sometimes the t is replaced with the f sound. Oh boy),  thumb, foot, mouth, teeth, Bible, cheese, Malachi (his cousin), help, up, door, Piper (a friend), Dayne (his uncle/mybrother) and I think he has said grandma and grandpa. He will also answer “no” if he doesn’t want something I ask. And he will say “no” if he does want something I ask. I don’t think he understands the word no.

Learning: This month’s color is purple. We still do “school” about every other day. This week we’ve added flash cards and he is already learning the words and can say them without looking at the pictures. One side of the card has the word with the picture and the other side just has the word.

We love our boy!

He has started to ask to wear one of my aprons now to help me cook. So cute!
