Wonderful time of the year! ⛄

image

Christmas is, as the songs say, the most wonderful time of the year! It is such a special time of year, you want it to last all year! Best of all, Christmas means a spirit of love, a time when the love of God and the love of our fellow men should prevail over all hatred and bitterness, a time when our thoughts and deeds and the spirit of our lives manifest the presence of God. Christmas time is my favorite time of year. I love when it’s time to shop for all those Christmas gifts for everyone. I love the red and green decorations. When it’s Christmas time, people exchange gifts often and take it for granted. This holiday is usually associated with receiving gifts. Personally, I think giving a gift is just as great as receiving one. Most of the time giving can be even more enjoyable. The whole idea of finding that perfect gift, making someone smile, and him or her realizing that you put that much thought into just one gift is just one way which Christmas brings happiness to everyone.

SPORTS VS. ACADEMICS

image

Does sports or academics come first? In most cases, academics should ALWAYS come first, no matter what. So, just because you are on a sports team does not mean that you can slack off in academics because you can get kicked off the team for failing grades. When you stress out about how much stuff you have to get done, it can make you stress out just because you are already stressed out. Take things slow and just breathe through it. Stressing over it will make the situation worse. If you are failing a class, try to take a break from the sport for maybe a day or two to really get your priorities straight. Ask your teacher how you can bring up your grade, if there are any extra credit assignments you can do, anything to bring it up. Study, Study, Study! Even though it may not be the funniest thing to do, you have to study in order to get good grades on your tests and quizzes. Just remember to try your best and have fun playing the sport that you love!

When You feel like Giving Up

670px-Never-Give-Up-Step-14Though you may find it nearly impossible to be positive if you feel like you’ve tried everything and nothing is working for you, it’s important to stay as optimistic as you can if you want to never give up. Being positive makes you see all of the good things in your life that you may be missing out on because you’re focusing on the negative things. It will also make you more open to more opportunities and possibilities because you’ll be looking at life with a “can do” attitude. It’s true. Being more positive will not only make it easier for you to deal with challenges, but it will help you embrace new ones. If you’re bitter or focused on all of your failures, then you won’t be able to move forward.

670px-Never-Give-Up-Step-1-Version-2If you want to be able to not give up, then you have to get into a mindset that allows you to come to terms with the mistakes you’ve made and to learn from them so you don’t keep having the same old problems. Though you may feel only discouraged or embarrassed when you first make a mistake, you should take a step back to understand what you did wrong and make a plan for not making the same mistake the next time.

How to be Calm in a Stressful Situation🍃

image

The clock is ticking. Everyone’s counting on you. Which wire should you cut? While most of us never have to deal with the life-or-death dilemmas of a bomb squad, everyday situations such as job interviews, public speaking, and family emergencies can be every bit as stressful if we are not accustomed to dealing with them. Learning how to remain calm in times of stress will not only have immediate smoothing effects; it can also, over time, help you lead a healthier, happier life.

🍃Even if you’re powerless to change the source of your stress, you have the power to choose how you’ll respond to it. The appropriate response to stress should depend on what’s causing it: you can either shake off your stress (ignore it and let it go immediately)

A complex problem can be overwhelming, even when you’ve got your plan mapped out, but remember: the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Just focus on one small goal at a time. 😘:)

SOCIAL LIFE VS. SPORTS

670px-285301-15

There are a number of reasons why your life may be lacking in the social life department. It’s likely that one of them is that you haven’t made socializing a priority, favoring work, school, or you are a part of a student-athlete in your school, over getting out into the world and making friends. If going out to the bars every night seems exhausting and unfulfilling at the end of the day, there are lots of other ways to make friends. Because friends are after all, one of the main sources of meaning and fulfillment in a person’s life.

If you have a problem with socializing because you’re too busy to socialize, then you shouldn’t make your schedule more busy. However, you should rearrange it so that you have time to pursue new hobbies or interests that could lead you to meet more people.

One of the most important things you can do is to stay on the grid, keep attending your commitments, and continue to hang out with people. If you met a new friend and had two successful coffee dates, don’t let two months go by without reaching out to the person, no matter how busy you are. With a new friendship, it’s important to keep moving forward.

Don’t overdo preparing for training, You’ll end up being late and will have no clue what is going on.

670px-Look-Effortlessly-Pretty-While-Playing-Sport-Step-4

Wear your track pants and sports top. Nike or Adidas tops look the best, they are sweat absorbing and also keep you warm or cold. If you are on a team, wear the clubs team jersey or colours.

EARLY MORNING TRAINING?

Get a dab of concealer or if you don’t have any, make your own. First, find a jar or an empty moisturiser tub to but your concealer into. Next, get a white moisturiser and put some into the tub. Put in a generous amount, don’t be afraid of wasting it! This method acts as a moisturiser too! Grab some of your foundation and mix it in well with the moisturiser. Add more or less than each ingredient. If you want a fresh, dewy look, add more moisturiser than foundation and. Apply the concealer under your eyes or wherever you feel you need it.

The worst possible thing to happen is to get burnt while playing sport. It hurts and makes it virtually impossible to run. Even if it’s not hot out, still apply sunscreen or a moisturiser that contains SPF. Rub it thoroughly into your face in circular motions.

GO ABOVE

670px-Be-a-Good-Taekwondo-Student-Step-14-Version-2Think to yourself…why do you play this sport? What drives you to want to get better? Truly dedicated athletes will seek out summer leagues and camps to improve themselves. Play with different people and push yourself to different levels of competition. Don’t just “go through the motions”. Strive to get better in each drill that you do. Work as hard as you do when the coach is looking as when they’re not. Be a good role model for others on the team. Don’t just settle for improving at practice. You will need to put in some time outside of practice to work on your game and get better.

As an athlete, your most important asset is your body. Eat healthful foods, get enough sleep, refrain from drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. You should also keep your body in shape through conditioning and strength training outside of practice. A good athlete never lets their self get out of shape or practice. Find some way to keep improving all year long, whether it be in your backyard or wherever you can, just don’t get out of momentum. Practice makes perfect! Lastly, have fun! There isn’t much point learning a sport if you do not enjoy it.

What to Eat Before Games🍴

image

First, the athlete should maintain a healthy diet every day, not just on game day, for overall well-being.

Now on game day…
diet high in carbohydrates (avoid fats, grease) about 1-2 hours before game-time or practice (you need time to digest it). Players should eat enough to feel their hunger is satisfied, but not overeat or stuff themselves. If it is a larger meal (lunch or dinner), eat at least 2 to 3 hours before the game; if it is a snack (you already had lunch or dinner earlier), eat the snack 1 hour before the game.

Suggested foods:
Some kind of pasta is a good lunch or dinner choice.
Others:
Cereals and grains
Vegetables
Crackers
Peanut butter crackers
Peanut butter sandwich
Pancakes
French toast
Bagels
Orange juice
Apples
Bananas
Grapes
Lean Meats
Avoid dairy products high in fat. Low fat yogurt would be fine.

Adequate fluid intake is important before and during the game to avoid dehydration… but again, too much is not good medicine. In addition to water, sport drinks or fruit juices are good choices.

If your practices or games are late in the afternoon, right after school, make sure you eat breakfast and lunch that day. Some fruit like bananas or oranges one hour before the practice or game would be a good booster.
