Volvo Ocean Race

The Volvo Ocean Race made a stop in Hong Kong.
The venue was on HK’s former Kai Tak airport landing strip, which is now getting rebuild as a entirely new district with sports arenas and exclusive apartments.
Perfect weather, food trucks and good music created a festival like atmosphere.

Lima

Against the popular opinion that Lima is not worth a visit, we highly enjoyed our stay. The city center is not any different from the one’s of Madrid, Barcelona or other Spanish cities.
We were surprised by how modern and advanced the city is. Of course the suburbs are less developed and probably not as safe as the city center, but that is also true for other metropolis.

Nazca

Not much to see here aside from the famous Nazca lines.
30 minutes on a plane, that’s about all the time you need for this stop.
Till this day the purpose of those lines is still not 100% certain.
The most likely and accepted theory claims that the lines are markers pointing into the direction of places where people could worship their gods.
Interestingly this place was not always a desert, but used to be green and lush.

Puno & Lake Titicaca

Lake Titicaca is not only special because of its extensive. sea-like size , but most notably because of its elevation at 3,800 meters above sea level. That’s why it’s often referred to as the highest navigable lake in the world.
The major city at the shores of lake Titicaca is Puno, which hasn’t really much to offer. We enjoyed our trip to the Taquile island and stopped by the overly touristic floating islands on our way.
