It's been a blast!

 Aloha my friends...
I've said my goodbye on Facebook and the Y&FH Blog and I wasn't even really thinking I needed to do it here, as my time on my own blog is so incredibly rare, but I felt it was only appropriate.  This is the message I shared on my FB page...

yup, Yumi & Fumi Handmade is closing up shop. Several different circumstances lead us to this decision and we are definitely a bit sad. BUT I believe things all happen for a reason and Yumi & Fumi Handmade has brought together so many amazing people from allllll over the world. I found myself emailing with customers from Slovenia, Spain, Holland, Dubai, Italy, Denmark, Russia, Sweden, Germany, the UK and all over the United States from Hawaii to New Jersey and that was WONDERFUL! Although I know many of my friends are not crafters, I think you can all see how it was this amazing phenomenon of connection. So many different people from so many different countries and cultures all coming together to share their creations.

That is the treasure that I take away from the experience of Yumi & Fumi Handmade. You know...I do love the customer service industry, but in particular the craft industry. It's filled with such endless creativity and sharing and friendship and community. The support we received from everyone, near and far, was never waning. Our team...you just couldn't ask for a more freakin fantastic group of friends. Seriously. Each retail show that we did (all those pictures we'd post) all those friends did that out of love and support and not for pay. I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!! Chuck Garcia Kat Wong Chin Masako Inoue Jesse Ontiveros and Kathy Dinh...you all seriously ROCK!

and Mike Eaton...he is an amazing carpenter and I consider him one of my best friends.  He was the one to build what we needed for our booth at the retail shows. But it wasn't just that...it was his invigorating and spirited support of everything...there are no words, Mike. Thank you for being such an amazing friend and also for always making sure our booth was looking sharp.

We also had a Design Team sent to us from heaven For those of you who might now know...a Design Team or DT are fans who for maybe a little crafty gift box and some stamps work their crafty lil' fingers off creating projects to show the world what can be done with our images. They open windows with their imaginations and inspire everyone. If you have never checked the blog and seen who these ladies are...I think you should. The items they created all started from a simple stamp, some ink, some paper, a little glue, some markers or color pencils...and became masterpieces in our eyes

There are some other craft projects I've been eager to get started.  Maybe once everything settles, I can begin those and maybe even start to share and actually post on this blog :) hehehe...WHUT?! LOL!!

Well, anyway, I am thankful for this experience and the friends that have come with it and now I welcome the next journey...

Aloha everyone

Bring on the battle!!!!

Yup, it's a blog battle
Team Yumi vs. Team Fumi!!!

We've got a battle brewing between Team Yumi & Team Fumi and you're invited to a front row seat of the feud.  No we're not really fighting, we're just having a bit of fun between teammates and what better way than to show off with a crafty style blog hop?  We're going to give the teams a theme to create with and you will be the judges.  Now it wouldn't be a blog hop without prizes yes?  Well you're absolutely right!  As you hop along make sure you leave comments on each blog post because each team member is giving away something on their blog.  Yep your eyes do not deceive you, so there are lots of chances to win.

There will be 4 types of winners:
1. Overall Design Team winners
2. Individual DT winner
3. Overall Blog hop winner will receive a stamp of our choice, plus similar items each DT member shares in their picture on their projects (it could be you)
4. DT will choose a winner from their own blogs to receive something as well (it could be you)

Battle #1 - Embellishments
Team Yumi Yummies vs. Team Fumi Faves
Starts: 11/15/13, Midnight pst
Ends: 11/18/13, 11pm pst.

Each DT member will:
1. Share their project
2. List their embellishments
3. Share a picture of what they are giving away on their blog

Here's what you need to do:
1. Go through the blog hop and leave a comment on everyone's blog post
2. When you come back to the Y&FH blog you will vote 1 time by leaving a comment with your favorite designer who you think used the theme the best. We'd also love to hear what you liked about their project so please include that in your comment.
3. Link up below

It's BLoG HoP Time with Perfect Paper Crafting!!

Aloha Everyone,

Today Rosemary, Denice, Leanne & I are representing Yumi & Fumi Handmade and teaming up with the amazing Design Team from Perfect Paper Crafting (the makers of the Perfect Layers rulers) for a fun-filled and creative blog hop.  If you are hoppin' in from Kim O'Conell at Paper Perfect Designs then you are right on track.  If you hopped in by chance and want to start from the beginning, all you have to do is stop in at Laura's/Perfect Paper Crafting blog where the party starts.

In case you get lost here's the line up:
Did I mention there will be prizes?  You bet!  Perfect Paper Crafting is giving away a very generous $50 gift certificate to one lucky hopper and we're giving away a single stamp from our Kigurumi series (a value of $40) to 4 lucky hoppers:
Prize 1 - Yumicorn (It could be you)
Prize 2 - Fumi Panda (It could be you)
Prize 3 - AJ Lion (It could be you)
Prize 4 - Chasezilla (It could be you)

Want to get in on the contest???
It's easy peasy...just leave a comment on everybody's blog.
You have until Oct 28th, 12am PST.

We decided that we'd highlight all the images from our Kigurumi Kids series and I chose to do the fantastical and super kawaii YUMICORN!!

I decided to focus on and play with the Perfect Tears tool set and
it was fun and easy!

Here's a pic of the set...
6 tearing edges and water pen
I used 3 of the different edges along with the water pen and I love the effect!

All the paper is from the American Girl crafts Super Paper PadI've paper pieced Yumicorn with 3 different choices of dp paper and embellished the buttons with little crystal gems.  Her unihorn and her wings and the edges of the Perfect Tears strips are slightly dazzled with a dab and a spread of Stickles.

The funny eye ball stickers for Yumicorn's outfit
came from an awesome clearance find at Michael's...

I used Copic to color and to add shading on the paper pieces...

Time to keep on hoppin'.

I'm gonna check everyone else's creations and then play some more with the other
Perfect Paper Crafting tools!!

Next up is
Roxie - http://paperscaper.blogspot.com/!

Aloha and hugs,

Happy Birthday Leanne!!!!!!!!

It's time to celebrate a wonderful friend and creative soul...

Here is a little altered frame for my friend using our
Yumi & Fumi Handmade rubber stamp

Ms. Leanne's good heart and amazing creative mind and soul is the reason she has an amazing circle of friends.  She also values and loves her ohana above all things and they are a loving, dedicated and close family.  I think the blog world was given a gift when she decided to start her blog and share her creations because now her circle of friends spans the planet.  Everyone feels her love and support in how attentive she is to everyone's blogs.  She tries her best never to leave anyone out and when she leaves a comment on one of your projects...you can be sure they are made with complete sincerity and that her comments are made with love.

I have had the fortune to have her in my life since high school :)
So, yes, I definitely celebrate Ms. Leanne and I know for a fact, that if you know her (even through blogland only) that you celebrate with me.

If you wanna see some of the love shared with Leanne, please visit us at
Yumi & Fumi Handmade Crafts
blog to see some wonderful creative goodness!

ENJOY YOUR DAY MY FRIEND!!!!!

Aloha always,
Ren

Time to Celebrate!!!! Hop with us!

Whooo hooo!!!!!

It's amazing how quickly time flies.  One year already and we've been having a blast!
It's been such an adventure for myself, Leanne and Zach
and there have been ups and downs, round-abouts and sleepless nights

I wanted to keep this post simple and get down to the core of why I am celebrating...
With the roller coaster of beginning a business, the first amazing thing is getting to start this adventure with friends dear to me...Leanne and Zach.
The other and most rewarding thing about our journey
has been getting to know all of you.

Our hope was that by sharing our visions of Yumi & Fumi
we would get to share a smile or two
with you  :)

...be the reason you smile when you turn on the computer
or create something with one of our images...

We've been blessed to have this opportunity to enter your lives
and I want to thank you for letting us in.

I'm sorry that I am not the most productive crafter or the best blog hopperer...LOL!!  I do not have a card or project to share with you.  I've been working on the celebratory blog badge and Facebook cover and that's what I'd like to share with you today.  Please feel free to share the love and if you like them, go ahead and place them on your blog or Facebook page.

HUGE HUGE aloha from the Yumi & Fumi Handmade Team

Well, THANK goodness there are PLENTY of other wonderful bloggers and crafters and just all around awesome people who have agreed to celebrate with us and HOP around the blog world!!!
It is such an impressive list...gets me a bit misty eyed <3
