Welcome to my blog! It started life way back in 2012 as a bit of a brain-dump online diary when my first daughter was tiny, and soon evolved when I realised I wanted to make food my focus!
What Hellie Eats is a way for me to keep all my favourite recipes and the wild experiments in one place. Like many home bakers, I have a notebook full of tried and tested recipes so this site is a virtual version of that, with less splatters!
I’m also passionate about good food, great cooking, super ingredients and supporting local businesses so you’ll also find restaurant and dining reviews here too.
As the daughter of a Sicilian, food has been a key part of my world since I was tiny. I’m also the daughter of a Lancastrian so pasta and pies were my childhood staples! I learnt by watching my parents, helping them to cook, and picking things up as I go. I now live in Manchester and have two daughters of my own, and I’m passionate about teaching them to love cooking and baking too.
Baking has become a cornerstone of my kitchen life and I love trying new recipes, learning and experimenting with flavours. I still have lots to learn and I’m enjoying it more and more. I mostly bake big cakes; pastry has always been, and still remains, my nemesis.
When not cooking, I am a Communications professional who works in Manchester, UK.
