A SWADDLED TREASURE

Shine, O stars shine
Jingle bells , jingle bells
Every sign tells
What a joy, what a time!
A moment so glorious
A celebration period
A festive season

Wrapped in a swaddle
A gift, a treasure
A token of love so inexplicable
A love without measure
A king indeed humble
A son has been given
Our sins have been taken

A prince of peace
In a world full of struggles
His word, Be at ease
Do not stumble
For this too, I can handle

Wonderful in counsel
A shephard, an ally
To guide even in the darkest valley
To lead in to straight paths
To teach all truths

A promise of life
A life eternal,
A life in abundance
The old is gone, cheers to new life,
Guaranted of righteousness
Indeed, we are now precious.

LIFE IS A GIFT

As the sun rises, you too rise
A new year, a blessing to tell
Wisdom comes with each wrinkle
Just like the stars in the sky twinkle
Let your dreams never dwindle

As you check your tick box
Be merry for every made achievement
Clap for holding on in the most difficult of moment
Give yourself a pat, in circumstances that felt like torment
You made it through, you didn’t bend

Here’s to a fresh start
As you walk in it, go with delight
May you in your paths find light
May you find favour in the Creator’s sight
Soar with your dreams to the highest height

This new year, as you embrace
I pray for bliss, peace and grace
To good tidings, yourself brace
As you beautifully walk in to this new year’s space
Always remember to each blessing trace

Life is indeed a gift

Cherish every moment of it

keep memories hold them tight

Celebrate this day with laughter and cheer

Happy new year to you my dear

ARMORED

When the day finally comes,
I’ll be all set, ready for the battle,
For less I won’t settle,
See, I’m well trained for the wrestle
And this time, I won’t fumble

Take a look at me,
My adornment, do you see?
My head crowned in an helmet,
A crown that reminds me of my salvation
On it, I have all of my attention

On my chest, lies a breastplate
Made of righteousness,
Guarding my heart from all evil, keeps it from flaws
for from it everything flows
Day by day, walking in this righteousness my faith grows

Round my waist, a belt of truth buckled
Truth that enlightens,
All my anxieties, fear, worries are tackled,
I’m no longer bound in deceit,
This truth, I won’t forfeit

I’ll be so focused on that battlefield,
I firmly hold my shield,
It is made of faith,
I’m not scared by the flaming arrows, when they flock,
I have my shield to block

In my right hand firmly held is a sword,
Made of the spirit, the word
It is double-edged, sharp, it is alive
Through the lifes struggles ,I take a dive
only on it, I survive

My shoes, tightly tied with laces,
I stand in readiness, for the race
To preach the gospel, I myself brace
I understand it might not be all bliss
Wherever you sent me, there I go in peace

A HERO’S TALE

Wear it with pride
your medal of gold
you shine with a heart untold
your selflessness, courage so bold
A choice made, to dreams fold, and life to put on hold
A hero’s tale will forever be told

Receive your flowers
For kindness so adorable
That calms the easily agitable
That understands behaviours most formidable
That ignores words unbearable

An award awaits
For intelligence, trully remarkable trait
Leading their journey, with insightful gait
Noticing the hidden whispers, easing each tense
You shine with pure benevolence

A concert specially for you
We celebrate you with heartfelt affection
A compassion so beautiful
That questions not untidiness
That minds not clumsiness
That only aims at others happiness

A round of applause to you
Your sacrifice, a beacon so bright
Guiding others through the darkest night
Your efforts, relentless amidst every giving up thought
Instilling hope to them, you are a true light

BLOOM

Tick tock, tick tock
A gleesome moment, a beautiful season
Gladly, take this token
Like a bloomed flower, you are fullen
This era, is golden

Put on your glittered gown
Particularly, the one that is brown
The radiance of your smile, knows no frown
With jewels, yourself adorn
Walk up to your throne, take up your crown

Wow! See, it fits perfectly well
No doubts, that I can clearly tell
This is your kingdom, there dwell
In your majesty, ignore every yell
Ignore, just ignore, it’s not pride in swell

You have trully earned it, your valor
In cheering beat, beat, beat the tabor
Dance, ululate,this celebration is major
You are no longer, not any more the wailer
You have blossomed in His favor

Rule, roar, take charge with no fear
Get intimidated not with even the weirdest stare
No, No, don’t you dare
It is all crystal clear, you on the steer
You are the queen here

OWN IT

I choose to throw
away all my throes
For it may seem impossible though
Today I choose to happiness bow

Today I won’t again howl
For my tears have become foul
I will get out of this hole
Where bitterness has entangled my whole

For it is a new day
And all my problems I now keep abay
Strong I will stay
For to be happy I don’t pay
Also, for together we fay

It is today that I forget the mistakes,
For it is happiness to put at stake
And I choose not to worry for that sake
For this ain’t fake

KNOWN

I am chosen
From when I was formless
In my mother’s womb, when I was nameless
I was neatly woven
Made a heir, made a citizen
I belong to the kingdom of heaven

I am known
Now His child, brought out of slavery
known to my innermost being, perfectly, no flattery
Made in His image,utterly
I am made fearfully, beautifully and wonderfully.

I am loved
wholly, without measure
valued more than a treasure
Made His special possession
For I got on me, all His attention

I am graced
Was with faults, now made righteous
was a sinner, now His precious
My life made holy and pure
In His arms I am secure

I am saved
From the law , from condemnation
I’ve been set free, found my salvation
I found freedom
Now I belong to the Son’s Kingdom.

I am owned
Purchased at a price
His spirit dwells in me, I’m now His
It’s a made deal
fully owned, on me has been put the seal

I am held
I rest in His righteous right hand
Never ashamed, never forsaken
In fear,never shaken
All my worries, He has taken

Lucy’s Take: Do Not Ask Me Why I Don’t Take Alcohol, That’s Me

Lucy’s Take: Do Not Ask Me Why I Don’t Take Alcohol, That’s Me

It is argued that no person is perfect. But, I opine that one becomes perfect by being truly himself. To be truly oneself demands one to be honest with the self. And once this happens, the inner self definitely corresponds with the physical self.

I have recently been struggling to explain to people how I don’t take alcohol. That’s not to say that I have a negative attitude to it, nah. And, ‘doktari’ has never advised me not to take for health’s sake. It’s just a choice, my choice.

But, the matter has always elicited negative comments every time I have tried elucidating it. I do not grok why it is so difficult for people to accept me as I am. Honestly, would there have been any better way to explain this, I would have already opted for it.

It is weird that my choice induces a variance of utterances. I mean, why would anyone be surprised? It is weirder when they end surmising my whole life as boring. They must be too mean to me, don’t you think so?

‘No, wait. Are you trying to say that you don’t take alcohol? How?’ Someone would just put it blatantly and plainly. Someone else would say, ‘You must be a pretender. How is it possible that you were in the University for FOUR GOOD YEARS, and six for the comrades of ‘Woi’University, yet you don’t drink? Anyway, I would not have anything more to say, but simply agree that it is possible.

It’s ironical and similarly interesting that I would not turn down any invitations for drinking sprees. I will however honor the invitation(s) with a disclaimer.

Disclaimer 1: Kindly, do not try to convince me to take whatever amount of alcohol. Because, no matter how hard you will, you will definitely lose. So, just allow me enjoy my DelMonte mango juice. I would prefer a mango one mainly because I’m a Kamba, and secondly, refer to the first argument. Worry not anyway if DelMonte isn’t offered, soda would be a favorite alternative. And yoghurt is still okay. And, since it’s likely that you might be worried of what would be said about us, we’ll just stick to soda, eitherSprite or Coke.

Disclaimer 2: Don’t you try to tell me everything about YOLO. Guess I know everything about it. So, just save your energy and enjoy your drink. So, let’s just take the drinks as we bring back all the good memories.

Cheers.

We are here, we’ll get there

There were days, sad ones
When our smiles couldn’t surface,we wore gloomy faces
Like tousled winds, came challenges
We got befuddled, like to solve puzzles
But we had to push the pedals
We are here, we’ll get there

There were days, that were jubilant
We laughed and played like puppies And danced , We were exuberant
To an extent, we became extravagant ft
We were happy, and recorded every epic moment
And also, noted every made achievement
We are here, we’ll get there

Other days were silent
All that we breathed and that mattered was only peace
We felt at ease
And never felt like losing even of it a piece
We enjoyed the calmness and also the bliss
We are here, we’ll get there

There were lazy days
When all we thought of was in bed staying
And to the kitchen sneaking
To quench our thirst and also snacking
Music soothed our souls, we were smiling
We are here, we’ll get there

There were low days
Intimidation found us, to us others were mean
Others pretended not to be, but it was crystal clear
They couldn’t hide it in their demeanor
We never chose to be conformed
In the ideas of us, that they fathomed
We are here, we’ll get there

Some days were useless
The battles we fought hard, we lost
We cried, felt weak and empty inside and got drained
We thought we had well trained
For our success we had already ordained
We are here, we’ll get there

There were daring days
Those were defined by boldness
We grew strong
And could even face the throng
We found the courage we had lost for long
We are here, we’ll get there

Insider’s Diary

I sing,
Loudly and melodiously
I sing not to my pain let out only
And my blessings to say
But also, to my worries extricate
It is how I myself vindicate

I write,
Simply and boldly
I write to not my thoughts express only
And to experiences and stories tell
But also, I write to be happy
It is for me, therapy

I paint,
Diligently and beautifully
I paint not to relieve stress only
And my different ideas express
But also, to away keep myself from distress
It reminds me to on press

I weave,
Neatly and extraordinarily
I weave not to get myself busy only
And various patterns process
But also, for my Creator to my work bless
It helps me to focus

I dance
Slowly and vigorously
I dance not for fitness only
And for providing entertainment
But also, for encouragement
It is how I get payment

I play,
Enjoyably and emotionally
I play not my piano and my violin only
And for the love of strings
But also, I play my guitar
It makes me an amateur†

I pray
Honestly and sincerely
I pray not to be thankful only
And when weak for strength

But also, for good health

It is my breath
