Friday night

I took a little walk in my neighborhood last night. It was cloudy so I wasn’t expecting much but it turned out to be quite magical.

I love the futuristic architecture of these 80’s balconies! I would happily consider moving in here if there were suitable flats.

It was a cloudy evening but the clouds caught some amazing hues from the setting sun. I tried different edits and colours for my pictures on Lightroom and liked cool blues and violets the most.

Outside, looking in.

Life is so exhausting right now, but at least the small details always manage to fascinate me.

Everything looks different (and better) in twilight and in the dark.

A red moon rising.

northern mountains

My sister and I decided to travel to ”the Arm” of Finland in the very north, close to the borders of Norway and Sweden. This is where our highest mountains are. Somehow, whenever I am planning a trip in Finland I usually turn to the mountains.

It’s been a very hot summer once again and it seems this is the new normal. But the week we spent in Lapland was the chilliest of the whole summer. It was kind of strange to be wearing a beanie and gloves in July.

It was also cloudy and at times foggy which is probably why my pictures came out even moodier and darker than usual. I like clouds though, they have a dramatic effect on photographs.

Next time we’ll explore Malla fell behind Lake Kilpisjärvi and also the nature reserve that it is a part of.

That’s Norway somewhere out there in the fog.

At times it felt like we were climbing a higher mountain than Saana (1029m). It was still surprisingly rocky at the top. It looked smoother from afar.

a detour

I intended to take the bus home the other night but instead I made a detour.

I have been here before so many times but never in this mood, light and ambience.

I admire the contrast between the gloomy old sulphite pulp mill and the igloo-like illuminated greenhouses.

Maybe there was a bizarre party but everyone has already left and now only the lights remain.

30/5

I managed to take my favourite kind of photos of small forest stuff today while being hunted by hungry mosquitos.

In the woods I often get the feeling that I am in a tall, wide room, maybe one that resembles a cathedral. If there’s anything divine in the universe it’s this.

I stumbled upon this very small yet overflowing rivulet. It even had several tiny waterfalls. My brother will be delighted to see this.
